The Perth Harvest Pathway section of the G2G rail trail is quite literally in the backyard. for hiking , bird watching and biking. Purchased in 1989, this small piece of heaven was developed by Peter & Suelaine Poot into a home for their family and beginning in 2003, a welcoming alpaca farm. The bush area has been used for camping by many local and visiting scouting groups over the years. In 2021, we joined Hip Camp and now allow others to enjoy the beauty, peace, and challenges of camping in our bush. The alpacas are a peaceful herd to watch as they graze their way through the day. Crias (baby alpacas), love to pronk and play in the pastures near their mothers. During May you may observe us shearing the alpacas. June is the birthing and breeding month. They birth quickly, so watch carefully. Tours of the farm with explanations of the fibre harvest process and opportunities to walk the alpacas are available to be booked through our website. Car camping here was a breeze - the ground was very soft, it would be excellent for tents too! It feels very private being tucked away in a small wood between the country backyards and the farm fields, and the birdsong was especially wonderful in the morning. Only one word of caution - the lane we drove in on had a lot of ATV action at one point (it seems like it's shared with another property), and we were glad we'd pulled our car in all the way before they rounded the corner!

Weekend Trip to Pootcorners Alpacas

We visited for a winter car camping trip, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The alpacas stay on the property year-round, and as soon as we arrived, they all peeked their heads out and watched us - it was absolutely adorable and such a special welcome. 🦙❄️ (and BP & Marley too!) Our car briefly got stuck in the snow upon arrival, and despite the cold weather, the host came out right away with a shovel to help us. We were so grateful. Communication was fast and clear throughout, and the host was incredibly accommodating from start to finish. The site itself is very private and cozy. Campfires are allowed, and having access to a washroom and electricity made winter camping comfortable and stress-free. We also stopped by the souvenir shop and picked up a cute alpaca keychain—highly recommend as a small keepsake from the trip! If you’re considering camping, this place is a must. We would absolutely love to come back again.

Riverside is a little piece of heaven nestled on the river just minutes from Godeeich and many local attractions. Shelby was a great host and accommodated all of our needs. John provides a beautiful property to camp on, and a nice way to wrap a day of bike packing. The area is quiet and serene, with a beautiful sunset and sunrise. Having an outhouse, and stations with snacks and fresh water was very convenient. I will definitely camp here again if I'm bike packing in the area.

Weekend Trip to Tincan Ranch

Just a great bit of land for group camping. The field is healthy mowed grass and tree lined, with some woods that provide privacy and shade and cut out virtually any road noise (and make for great hammock camping). The ground is nice and essy for staking and sleeping on, and Chris and Denise have set up several fire pits that serve the need nicely. The site is set adjacent from the shop far back enough to have great privacy, and the hosts are wonderful. Strong recommend for group campouts when you want to be near enough to civilization while looking for a unique spot to stay that affords a feeling of isolation.

I very much enjoyed the quiet campsite beside the river, it had everything I needed. I had hoped to fish, but the water level was very low, so i just enjoyed cooking and reading beside the fire. I hope to return with my grandson when the water is higher next spring.
