Bright&#x27;s Grove Bayou

We had a great weekend here. Matthew was very friendly and generous during our stay. The sites are large and well spaced out. You get the perfect mix of isolation while camping while still having access to Tim Hortons down the street and grocery stores to pick things up you forgot to pack. Would definitely stay here again!

Really beautiful farm land and owner is super kind! We were given lots of wood and had plenty of space on our site. Owner let us choose our site too because no one else booked. It was so so calm at night, lots of wildlife to listen to. There was a bit of noise from the roads in the evening, but no noise past 9-10pm. Nice walk down to the water too, trails super close, overall, great time!

We loved the shade that the lot provided. It was super hot in the sun, and some rain came while we were there but the site provided nice shelter from both the sun and rain. A little over ten minutes walking to get to the lake was also nice. All in all it’s a nice location and Matt is a great host!! He met us there when we checked in to make sure we had what we needed and the lot was up to par, then left us alone for our wonderful weekend of peace and quiet time.

Site 107. Quiet and peaceful .. can hear some traffic noise, but didn't bother us at all. There weren't any other campers during our stay, making it our own private getaway. Host Matt was such a nice guy ... Came out with some starter fire wood for our weekend. Would definitely camp here again!

Host was kind and receptive, but the site I booked (102) did NOT look like it had in pictures, and was apparently not bookable (host stated something wrong with the Hipcamp website). Pin for directions sent us to a private residence (not the Hipcamp site), so this took a little navigating to figure out. If booking this site, strongly recommend reaching out to the host to communicate prior to arrival (no communication came from the host prior to arrival).

I was staying one night on my way through the area and this was the perfect spot to stop. It’s private, but really close to modern conveniences that you can walk to (which is hard to manage). As a result you do hear a little road noise through the trees, but nothing that is louder then the sounds of nature. If you’re a light sleeper, some basic earplugs will more then solve the problem. I was tent camping, and each site is a nice size with good shade, and plenty of spots for you to pitch your tent and still have room to move around the site. Matthew was a great host (and provided a great recommendation for a restaurant) - go to Skeeters alongside Lake Huron, you won’t be disappointed.

Great spot! Convenient to highway and beautiful Bright’s Grove. Walking distance to amenities and nice paths. It’s quiet and private and perfect for us with our dog. Highly recommend!

Great Spot!

This spot served as a great home base for us. We were visiting the Sarnia area and the location of this spot worked out great. Close to everything we wanted but still tucked away and private. The sites were clean and the host was responsive and helpful. If we need a place to camp again in the area, this is where we will come back to.

We really enjoyed tent camping at this site, even tho it rained on us and thunder stormed at 3 nights we were there. The best part is the hospitality of Matt, he was very accommodating and understanding, he let us choose and change the site without any hassle and have us wood and fire starters. Offered more wood in exchange of fish i catch! Unfortunately fish weren't biting as well as I hoped and I didn't deliver on that but over all it was a wonderful experience. We will be coming back in the spring sometime for some opening season fishing for Walleye.

We loved our time at Matthew’s camping spot. Nestled amongst the trees and with supply of firewood, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We made the most of the close by beaches spending most of our days swimming in the lake. Super convenient to be close to supermarket and Tim Hortons - and also feel like you’re in the wilderness. Other than the occasional loud car or motor bike on the main road it was nice and quiet. Thanks Matthew - wonderful host!

Matt was a wonderful host!! He met us at the site and shared some tidbits about the area. The sites were close but with the trees between them and how spacious they were it felt very secluded. The bathroom was a very clean portapotty not far from the camp. Some talked about the noise from the road, but it was very minimal and barely able to be heard over the sound of the wildlife.

Great camping spot.

We had a great night! The site is close to a major road but it was quiet and peaceful and we could hear the sound of the lake which is just a few blocks away. Matthew provided us with firewood and fire starters which was awesome. We had some delays and arrived much later than we hoped, but enjoyed our campsite, the fire and had a good rest. We will definitely return and highly recommend this camp. We travel and camp in a VW bus but the space was clear for tents too. And, there is a very ‘high-end’ port-o-pot onsite. Our navigation/gps coordinants took us right to the entrance but we weren’t sure if we were actually there (again, it was dark). It’s not well marked but we re-visited Matthew’s email and he had provided us with instructions.

Motocamping trip

I was on a motocamping trip and found Matthew’s camp. Great spot, super close to everything one could need. Matthew went over and beyond to ensure I was taken care of. 11/10 for Matthew! As is the case on motocamping, it’s hard to have everything on the bike. The proximity to local shops makes this a perfect spot! Will be returning on my next road trip.

Matthew was a great host. The site was private and well maintained with toilet nearby. For RV campers who are able to provide their own hydro and water services (Matthew does rent out a Honda generator if needed), it is a lovely piece of land and a short drive to a beach. He also dropped off some wood for a small fire.
