Our stay at TJ Stables was an unforgettable family adventure! The hosts were incredibly attentive, ensuring we felt welcomed from the moment we arrived. The serene farm setting was perfect for unwinding, and the tipi experience was a highlight—comfortable beds and a cozy vibe made our overnight stay truly special.
The kids were thrilled with the goats, chickens, and pony ride, and we all fell in love with the beautiful horses. The farm's amenities were top-notch, with clean washrooms, a convenient shower, and a firepit that made cooking under the stars a joy. The golf cart ride to the tipi with our belongings was a thoughtful touch. TJ Stables delivered a delightful, family-friendly experience we can’t wait to revisit!

My husband and I had an amazing experience at TJ Stables - we enjoyed the off-grid cabin and the Spirit Horse Tour.
We met Terry (the T in TJ) as soon as we arrived, she gave us a tour of the facility before escorting us to the cabin. Their attention to detail is impressive. They had the bonfire ready to go for us, a full tank of propane for the BBQ, extra firewood, lanterns, lighters, paper plates, utensils, thermacels, bug spray, extra blanket, bedding, you name it. We forgot cooking utensils and Terry generously let us use theirs from the staff kitchen.
Flush toilets are nearby. Showers and bathrooms are available in the main building, accessible 24 hours.
Zoe captivated us with her tour of the rare and beautiful Ojibwe Spirit Horses.
All the staff are friendly and professional. It’s evident they care about what they do and put their hearts into their work. I’m looking forward to going back!

The tipi was nice except when it rained. We got wet. Next time I'll stay in the little cabin. But the 2 hour horse ride was wonderful. Missy was so very patient with us newbies and was so friendly. She really made our stay. The staff were all really friendly. Nice to go somewhere where you are made to feel at home. The experience with horses made us all feel at peace. Thank you f

Overall the stay was Fantastic! The staff are very friendly and willing to help with any questions you may have. it was very peaceful and the views of the pastures along with the small wildlife were great. We also took the 2 hour trail tour ride which we highly recommend The staff are well trained with the horses along with easy to tell they have a real passion and love for their animals, even unexperienced riders will be having fun and feel comfortable by the end of this tour.

We had a really wonderful stay. The staff were extremely helpful and accomodating. From collecting us from the train station and making sure we had everything we needed, to even taking us on a small trip to the nearby lake.
We stayed in the tipi just next to the pond which was very picturesque. In the evening, we had the spirit horse talk. A lovely lady came and explained a lot about indigenous culture and the impact of the spirit horses, before we went out to greet the horses. It was a very genuine and insightful experience. We then were able to use the facilities to cook up a BBQ and a wood fire.
The next day we went trail riding on the horses. It was a new and exciting experience for us. The horses were calm and fairly easy to handle for novices and there was plenty of instruction and encouragement. In the afternoon, we were taken to the lake very kindly by one of the staff members. As the weather was looking to turn stormy in the evening, we switched to the cabin which our hosts had offered us. They helped us move our bags and took us to the grocery store to grab more food too.
There's a tonne more great things I could say about this experience but I will leave it there and state the obvious: we would definitely recommend this experience to others! Just make sure you bring some big spray 😉

Tipi Overnight Adventure
Beautiful grounds & horses. Sleeping in a tipi was very comfortable. The hosts John & Terry were very considerate.The spiritual experience and knowledge shared was enlightening. Looking forward to going back.

It is a privilege to be able to visit TJ Stables. The photos don't show how special it is to be able to be with Terry, John, the rabbits, goats, chickens and roosters, and the horses, of course. Terry and John are very attentive hosts and the animals are so docile. We chose tent 2, that is bigger and accommodates a family of 4+. The tent is unique and spacious. I recommend bringing repellent and book bedding as it gets cold at night and bugs are very active at night. In front of the tent there is a fire pit and a picnic table and a lot of space to explore and have fun.The farm tour is really cool for kids and is really worth doing and they also get a horse walk. There is a playground and a little house for the kids to play too but the beauty is in exploring the land, the colors of the leaves, the history of Terry and the Spirit horses. The spirit horses come to you as they know you. The energy they give you is pure love. It is a unforgettable experience and we are very grateful for these special moments! Thank you so much Terry and John! We will be back for sure!

It was a nice little site with only limited people which is good. There is option of horseback riding (needs prebooking which is cool)
John the owner was really nice and patient, and gave a us good knowledge about history of wild horses.
Will recommend for camping if you dont like a lot of crowd around you. Little bunnies chickens and goats were a plus point

John was an amazing host. Even though we arrived late, he patiently waited to show us around the campsite, started a campfire for us and even gave us a more comprehensive tour the next day.
The horses, other animals and farm overall were incredible and the tipi was a unique experience which we enjoyed.
The tipi was very comfortable.
Would definitely recommend it to others.

Tipi Overnight Adventure
My family had an amazing experience and we can't wait to return. Terry and John were phenomenal hosts. When my daughter couldn't sit still Terry had her dancing, completing crafts and frog catching. John had her engaged with Metis culture by telling her stories and traditional games. David was a wonderful guide to Indigenous culture and traditions. And, meeting the Ojibiwe Spirit Horses was a dream come true. It is hard to write a review that expresses the beauty of this place and the people. You just have to go and see for yourself!

When we arrived we were happily greeted and brought to our cabin. The cabin had everything we needed and it was so relaxing and really gave you that out of town feeling. There were other campsites near by but you could hardly tell and felt secluded and secure. The kids loved all of the animals! They were able to go on a pony ride and the farm tour really made us all comfortable. The bathrooms and shower were always accessible and clean. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful! The cabin is a must see!

It was a great one of a kind experience. We. Celebrated our one year anniversary there. The overnight stay in the tipi was amazing and like nothing I’ve ever done before. Definitely recommend the spirit horses. The new 3 week colt was so adorable. Loved horseback riding on the trails and all the farm animals. Everyone was so kind and accommodating. Definitely can’t wait to go back soon.

I absolutely loved staying at Terry's space. This was THE BEST hipcamp experience I have ever had. Terry & John are such warm, hospital people who really took their time and care to ensure my mom and I had a great trip.
They gave us a welcome tour of their beautiful property - equipped with history, hiking trails, birdwatching opportunities, stables for horses, ponds for ducks & turtles, firepits, a petting zoo with goats, playground equipment & activities for all ages, etc.! It is literally a haven and the perfect location for a getaway, gathering, wedding, birthday, etc. I cannot wait to come back throughout the seasons.
The bunkie was wonderful and slept 4 comfortably. The room had eating utensils, a table, lanterns and a small space heater for chilly nights. My 72-year old mother and I brought our 2 dogs and they were so happy.
Thank you again, Terry and John, & the extended crew at TJ Stables (David, Cara, etc.) for making our stay so memorable!

This is a really unique spot. TJ Stables are doing some amazing things for the endangered Ojibway Spirit Horses and the sharing of Indigenous knowledge. My husband and I stayed with my sister and her friend inside of the cabin.
Terry and John went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. We originally planned to stay in the Tipi but it was very wet outside (mix of snow/rain) so Terry gave us the option to stay in the cabin where we would stay dry. Terry and John payed for our dinner out in town our first night since it was too wet to cook anything outside. They gave us a ton of warm blankets and had a heater going in the cabin to keep us warm. My husband is really interested in hunting and the farm life so this trip was a dream come true for him. He got to spend his morning chatting with John while he skinned a Buck he shot the day before. The girls and I learned how to make coffee over the fire and we were very proud of ourselves. David went above and beyond as he led us through the Spirit Horse Encounter which was truly a beautiful and eye-opening experience. Terry gave us some venison to cook over the fire for our last night and sent us home with a few more pieces. This trip nourished our souls- a combination of adventure, rest and education. Highly recommend checking this place out!

I can never explain how wonderful it is here! My son and I were treated like family! David was absolutely amazing and made such a positive impact on my son. When we arrived, John picked us up in his golf cart and gave us a great tour of the farm. John showed us how tipis are built, and how they functioned. It was an amazing experience and we certainly learnt a lot. The tipi was very comfortable, and John set us up a campfire which burnt all night. I recommend this stay to anybody looking for a peaceful getaway! Would definitely come back! Thank you John!

This was an incredible experience and one that will live long in the memory.
Our children especially just loved every moment of our stay and want to make this an annual trip! They loved feeding the animals and exploring the farm including driving the golf cart!
Terry and John were so kind and welcoming and couldn’t do enough to make us feel at home.
Getting to meet the spirit horses was a unique experience and a really special part of the trip too.
I couldn’t recommend a stay here enough to families wanting a unique, memorable stay with truly warm and welcoming hosts. Thank you Terry and John!

Where do I start. This is a healing place. Terry and John are extraordinary people, doing extraordinary things in their community and beyond. You can see their passion on throughout their property, their staff and them as a beautiful couple.
I was the FIRST TO STAY IN THEIR COWBOY BUNKIE which was such a beautiful little space that made me feel right at home. It's tucked away at the back of their property, for just the right amount of privacy and rustic-vibe. Specially when you add on a trail ride! Would highly recommend, my ride leader Kylie was so perfect, knowledgable and enthusiastic!
My 2nd night I was honoured to received a medicine walk as well as a SPIRIT HORSE ENCOUNTER which I feel could soothe anyone's soul. The tipi is beautiful and it was very fun to learn how the structure is made.
This is a special place that words cannot describe.....you'll just have to visit to be able to understand it's rejuvenating energy.
Thank you Terry and John (and team) for making me feel so comfortable, safe, cared for and for making me feel like apart of your family! Hope to see you in the future.

My friends and I stayed over at TJ's for 1 night in a Tipi! Terry and John were extremely friendly hosts, and were there to help accomodate us throughout the trip, from arrival till the end! It was a one-of-a-kind, quaint expereince, and I would definitely come back for more another time!

Upon arrival we were warmly greeted by Terry and John and given a tour of their property via golf cart. When they brought us to the tipi site, we were blown away by the set up they had prepared. Not only is the tipi itself beautiful, it was decorated with various furs and antlers, we opted for the bedding add-on and were kept very comfortable with what was provided. Outside the tipi you will find a fully stocked cooking area, fire pit, wooden chairs and benches, a pond and a view of the spirit horses--at night the moon perfectly sits right above the horse pasture, it's stunning!
What really made the experience special was the hospitality shown by Terry & John. John shared some of his Metis history, demonstrated how to make a tipi, and lit a fire in our tipi while Terry and him shared stories of their life--you will not meet two more interesting and kind people!
In the morning we were taken to their garden and chicken coop where we were able to pick and collect whatever we wanted for breakfast! John helped us cook an absolutely delicious breakfast with fresh cracked eggs and veggies--this was one of the highlight of the trip!
In the afternoon we booked a horse trail ride for an hour and had a blast riding around the woods on their property. Other things to note is that they have the cutest goats and bunnies that you can pet and feed anytime during your stay.
Washrooms are a quick walk away, they are kept very clean and there is also a shower available for use, which was very nice. I can't say enough good things about our time at TJ Stables.
if you are looking for a unique and fun weekend stay this is the place to go, it gets a 10/10 recommendation from me!!!
