Sit by the pond, sit by the creek, sit in the waterfall, sit out at Blueberry Hill for a pleasant breeze or up on SunStar Ridge for some nightly star gazing or lay back in a hammock or on zero gravity chairs 1 Bunkie on a hill overlooking the pond and 2 private tent sites, one at Boot Hill and one in the Field of Dreams. Each site has a fire pit and a compostable toilet and there is a compostable toilet in an outhouse on the property for the bunkie. Great for canoes, kayaks, bird and wildlife watching with spectacular star gazing. This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape. Some finds are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

Jacks Cabin was a perfect cozy cottage in the woods. Beautiful property and plenty of classic board games to play by fire light. The wood stove kept up very warm throughout the night. The only con is the outhouse has a window but no curtain. Its a small critique but worth mentioning. We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone looking to get away for a quiet weekend check out this property.

Weekend Trip to Cabin in the Woods

Natalie's bunkie is a truly magical place! The cabin itself is so cozy and thoughtfully provisioned with everything you could need all season round, from practical supplies like cutlery and cookware and a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on cool autumn nights to board games and paperback books and even a portable DVD player for makeshift movie screenings, if you can peel your eyes away from the view of the starry night sky. The bunkie sits on a scenic body of water and a waterfall that make for great canoeing and swimming or admiring over morning coffee, and the rest of Natalie's property is bursting with whimsical art installments as well as gardens, fire pits, fairy lights, and fields of flowers. My partner and I have visited twice - in the summer and the in the fall - and have found each season and each stay so uniquely gorgeous and relaxing. If you are looking for a place to retreat from the noise of the world, the bunkie is perfect. Natalie is so warm and welcoming and has put so much care and attention into providing people with a home away from home.

Weekend Trip to Bushwood!

First of all, id like to thank Brian and Jen for welcoming us on to their land. This was a fantasfic experience. Brain ended up meeting us and welcoming us to his area. He then took all of our stuff to site with his side by side. This spot was beautiful, set up extremly well and maintained and very quiet. We had a canoe to use, and although the water is shallow and weedy, a canoe here was a great time. We paddled and explored various islands. Night time the stars we great although the moon was too bright for them to truly shine, we were able to see saturn and its rings using our telescope. On our 4th and final day, brian and i had agreed on a time and he met us, using his side by side once again to cart our stuff back. He even helped us scour the site to make sure we didnt leave anything behind. Overall, it was an acceptional stay and the hospitality and kindness of Brian made it a trip to remember.

Hi all! We had a wonderful stay at the Blue Heron Bunkie. Super cute and cozy cabin; the host even put a little fire in the wood stove, so we’d have a warm first night. We scored with the view and I scored with a kindred spirit who owns this beautiful land. Did I mention the outdoor shower? Divine.

5 nights at Cabin in the Woods

This was my first Hipcamp experience, and Natalie has set the bar extremely high. She is a fantastic host - wonderful to deal with and very responsive. The Heron Bunkie was immaculate, and had everything you could need including a great little fridge, lights, a small wood stove (and wood), comfy bed and little touches like coffee (plus a coffee maker with filters) and ice cubes ready to go. The setting was lovely, despite the drier than normal conditions - peaceful. Multiple blue heron sightings, too, and a mystery critter in the pond. (She supplies binoculars!) Having coffee sitting on the generous deck was a treat, as was dinners prepared on the bbq. Amazingly, there were very few mosquitoes, so sitting outside to read or have a beverage was truly enjoyable. Being away from any city, the stargazing was stellar, too. My pup was made to feel really welcome, and she started to look for Natalie daily. All in all, a lovely, relaxing experience. Thank you so much, Natalie. You're the best. Not a surprise that Ginny didn't want to get out of the car when we got home!

My partner and I really loved the cabin and area despite not being able to have a fire due to the fire restrictions in the area. The loft was awesome and we really enjoyed going out on the balcony to enjoy our coffee. The cabin has wonderful ambiance and is perfect for couple's or an individual to spend some alone time.

Weekend Trip to The Stonefield Estate Gazebos

This is an amazing place. Me and my 8 year old boy had an awesome father son camping and fishing trip. Sonia is a great host and the property is beautiful and quiet and secluded. The gazebos have pretty much everything you need. The bass fishing is about as good as I have had. Highly recommend.

Weekend Trip to Cabin in the Woods

My husband and I and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The bunky was very cozy. The view was amazing. And lounging by the falls was great. Natalie is a pleasure to talk to and I would definitely recommend and would definitely book again. I felt very comfortable the whole entire weekend, It felt like I was staying with family and friends. Thank you Natalie, it was a pleasure meeting you 😊

Jack's cabin was absolutely fantastic, we had a wonderful stay! The walk from our car was quick and the trail was well groomed and easy to navigate. The cabin itself was stunning and extremely well decorated, inside and out! Very neat, tidy and stocked with everything we could possibly need. Surrounded by beautiful forest with no neighbors in sight, the site felt private, cozy and quiet. We also appreciated the information binder about the cabin itself and the surrounding area. A great guide for nature trails, sights to see, local restaurants and entertainment. We had a wonderful time and will be sure to return!

3 nights at Backwoods Cabin Co

The cabin is cozy and has everything you need…except a shower. The listing is somewhat misleading as it says it has cold water showers and there’s only a camp shower. We got creative with washing so we made do. Just bring extra water or make a plan for bathing if you stay here. Malissa and Corey are very helpful and promptly respond to messages and requests. The kitchen is well-stocked and the DVD collection was nice to check out. There’s lots of games and a listing of places to explore the local area. We enjoyed the peace and quiet but do be warned- the mosquitos are bad, so bring lots of bug spray!
