Welcome to Backwoods Cabin Co. We have two unique glamping cabins available on our property located on the outskirts of Tweed and Madoc. The perfect spot to unwind, relax, and snuggle by the wood stove.
There is a loop trail that goes around the entire 11 acres of land. There are markers along the trail so you know the boundaries of the area
My family and I live on the property, we are here if you need anything urgently. We do spend a lot of time outside so the odd time you might hear our kids playing. We do have 2 VERY friendly dogs named Copper and Chief who might bark at you when you pull into the driveway but are on an electric fence so cannot get back to the cabin. We also have an outdoor cat named Wessie that may come and say hello.

Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too.
We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution.
Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog.
During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey, and homemade baked goods, are also available to purchase too. (check out our "Extras" Section at booking page.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Only 1-2 pets are permitted during your stay at the Dome.
Please note that Dome guests do not have access to Marmora Retreat's Farmhouse area, pool, and waterfront dock area.
The hot tub may require up to 4 hours to reach optimal temperature, which can vary depending on the outdoor temperature.
This year, we've encountered issues with wet wood, affecting our firewood supply. To ensure you have a cozy experience, we kindly request that all guests bring their own dry firewood. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. During the summer months don't forget your bug spray!
Outdoor Fires - based around the Marmora township, all fire warnings are set at the time of your visit. All outdoor fires must be small, controlled and monitored at all times, they must also be put out with water before being left.
Sound - after 10:00 pm there is a noise curfew, but even before that you must make sure you are respectful of other guests on the property who come to relax, as well as our neighbors in this quiet countryside region. In the event of any noise rule violations, such as loud music or disturbances after 10:00 PM, a $500 fee will be applied from the deposit.
Power - we are on solar energy, embracing an eco-conscious lifestyle. Our off-grid setup ensures that your stay in the Dome is in harmony with nature. The water system operates on a pump-action system. Enjoy a sustainable, peaceful retreat, leaving a lighter impact on the environment during your stay.

A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. Accommodations are a 16’ x 20’ prospector wall tent, set up with queen size deluxe air mattress, bunk bed and single cots for extra guests. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

Our Bunkie is fully insulated and cozy on cold winter nights. The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails.
Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. The Bunkie does not have running water, but water is provided, and the sink can still be used.
There is a large bonfire area on our farm, (a little bit away from the Bunkie) also a play area for kids including zip line, boat structure, sand box, swing, above ground pool and trampoline; gorgeous circular organic garden with seating area and a small orchard. A private piece of Prince Edward County! An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. So much to see and do here, lots of sightseeing, nature trails, conservation areas and don’t forget the world famous Sandbanks provincial park! (The largest sandbar beach in Canada). Perfect getaway for a couples glamping experience, some peace, quiet, and relaxation, or to just let loose and have a great time! There are no houses to either side of the property, so there’s no worry to be quiet 😉.

Welcome to Backwoods Cabin Co. We have two unique glamping cabins available on our property located on the outskirts of Tweed and Madoc. The perfect spot to unwind, relax, and snuggle by the wood stove.
There is a loop trail that goes around the entire 11 acres of land. There are markers along the trail so you know the boundaries of the area
My family and I live on the property, we are here if you need anything urgently. We do spend a lot of time outside so the odd time you might hear our kids playing. We do have 2 VERY friendly dogs named Copper and Chief who might bark at you when you pull into the driveway but are on an electric fence so cannot get back to the cabin. We also have an outdoor cat named Wessie that may come and say hello.

Our Farm is located on the very edge of the Canadian Shield, so most of the landscape is a rocky, rugged, and naturally wooded. Throughout the property are numerous short, looping, walking trails that meander throughout the Sugar bush, pasture area, 3 season pond, and our farm animal "homes". These trails are perfect for short nature walks, where you'll experience natural wildflowers and plants, see and hear song birds, small animal wildlife and of course, farm life too.
We are also located on the edge of the Eastern Ontario "Dark Sky" Area, which means we have a very nice view from the edge of our pasture of the North Sky stars on a clear night, with very minimal light pollution.
Our varied collection of farm animals includes; lots of chickens, (including roosters who DO crow in the early morning hours), miniature goats, horses, a couple of barn cats, and a dog.
During your stay with us you are welcome to come learn about and interact with our animals and daily farm life, if you so desire, and farm fresh eggs, maple syrup, local honey, and homemade baked goods, are also available to purchase too. (check out our "Extras" Section at booking page.

Only 1-2 pets are permitted during your stay at the Dome.
Please note that Dome guests do not have access to Marmora Retreat's Farmhouse area, pool, and waterfront dock area.
The hot tub may require up to 4 hours to reach optimal temperature, which can vary depending on the outdoor temperature.
This year, we've encountered issues with wet wood, affecting our firewood supply. To ensure you have a cozy experience, we kindly request that all guests bring their own dry firewood. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. During the summer months don't forget your bug spray!
Outdoor Fires - based around the Marmora township, all fire warnings are set at the time of your visit. All outdoor fires must be small, controlled and monitored at all times, they must also be put out with water before being left.
Sound - after 10:00 pm there is a noise curfew, but even before that you must make sure you are respectful of other guests on the property who come to relax, as well as our neighbors in this quiet countryside region. In the event of any noise rule violations, such as loud music or disturbances after 10:00 PM, a $500 fee will be applied from the deposit.
Power - we are on solar energy, embracing an eco-conscious lifestyle. Our off-grid setup ensures that your stay in the Dome is in harmony with nature. The water system operates on a pump-action system. Enjoy a sustainable, peaceful retreat, leaving a lighter impact on the environment during your stay.

A tranquil sanctuary of peace and solitude to soothe the soul, Simcoe Island is a bird watcher paradise, so close to the city of Kingston yet a world where time has stopped. We have a food prep table, dishes, frying pan and cooking pot, a small microwave, single induction cooktop, small bar fridge and a kettle and coffee maker. You can eat your meals at the picnic table inside the tent or at the outside picnic table. There is a kerosene heater for cooler nights and a wood pellet stove which will heat the tent during the winter months. An outdoor dishwashing station is available with on demand hot water. We have a basic dug privy. There are bicycles available to use to explore the island and there are 3 kayaks and 2 canoes for paddling in the sheltered channel and the lake. Fishing generally is good. Ferry toll is $10 for a return trip and the ferry from downtown Kingston to Wolfe Island is free. Linens and sleeping bags are available if requested . FALL and WINTER CAMPING at Windpsalm: Kerosene and/or wood pellets costs will be discussed prior to or upon guests arrival during the fall and winter months. The pellet stove's fan tends to be a bit noisy but it does a good job of making the tent warm and comfortable. Fen stayed in the tent in February when the overnight temperatures were -25C and the inside temperature on the back wall was 18C. Fen's grandchildren are also regular winter campers at Windpsalm. We can also provide a few sets of snowshoes and if requested a popup ice fishing hut. In the event that the snow is too deep for your vehicle, we will transport our guests to the tent in our farm John Deere Gator.

Our Bunkie is fully insulated and cozy on cold winter nights. The Northumberland Forest is quite close and it offers many cross-country ski trails.
Because of the cold weather, our outdoor shower it’s not operable during the winter months. The Bunkie does not have running water, but water is provided, and the sink can still be used.
There is a large bonfire area on our farm, (a little bit away from the Bunkie) also a play area for kids including zip line, boat structure, sand box, swing, above ground pool and trampoline; gorgeous circular organic garden with seating area and a small orchard. A private piece of Prince Edward County! An adorable little retro styled bunkie on a private woodsy property that’s just a fifteen minute walk (or three minute drive) from a picturesque rock beach on Lake Ontario. Tucked in privately from the road out of site by a bunch of junipers and other trees located on the property. The bunkie offers a nice queen sized bed, a little area to the side with chairs and a table to relax if you need to get out of the sun/rain, and a very chill 70’s beach vibe. If the wind is just right, you will be able to hear the waves crash from the beach! The property has a perfect little hangout area where there is a nice big fire pit, patio table/chairs, as well as a portable bbq (you will just need to bring your own little Coleman propane cylinder with you.) If it’s a nice clear night, stare up to the sky and you may see the Milky Way above! There are a couple short loop trails that you can walk your dog on that loop from the bunkie/hangout area that will loop you back to either spot on the property. I just ask you to be respectful of cleaning up after your pets if you bring any. There are some pylons located in areas on the trails to indicate not to go past those any further due to it being not maintained past that those points. The land is located on probably one of the quietest roads in the County. You may see more off road vehicles if your on your way to the beach then you would cars. There is also a little outhouse located at the front of the property off to the side of the driveway. Twenty minutes from the town of Picton where you can find any amenity you require! A gorgeous town with tons of great restaurants, wineries, breweries, farm stands, artisans and shopping. Check out the rest of Prince Edward County by just adding a few more minutes to your trip in any direction to explore our other great towns around the community. So much to see and do here, lots of sightseeing, nature trails, conservation areas and don’t forget the world famous Sandbanks provincial park! (The largest sandbar beach in Canada). Perfect getaway for a couples glamping experience, some peace, quiet, and relaxation, or to just let loose and have a great time! There are no houses to either side of the property, so there’s no worry to be quiet 😉.

Mother Nature greeted us generously offering every shade of her weather; freezing rain, a sunny morning that ended with an afternoon blizzard, snow crunched walks on trails and around the flowing river with ice formations, days with big fluffy snowflakes and outdoor fires under starry skies with a luminous moon. Maise(our dog) also enjoyed being free to roam and explore the wintery weather. Grayotter Cabin protected us from the elements and we stayed warm and cozy by the wood stove. There was plenty of fire wood and lots of snow to melt for washing dishes.
Riverbend and the wonders of Mother Naure treated us to a Winter Wonderland! We would definitely come again in the winter!
It was another amazing and magical adventure at Riverbend Grayotter Cabin.
We got to meet Katrina and Graham which was an added bonus to our trip!

Jacks Cabin was a perfect cozy cottage in the woods. Beautiful property and plenty of classic board games to play by fire light. The wood stove kept up very warm throughout the night.
The only con is the outhouse has a window but no curtain. Its a small critique but worth mentioning.
We greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend anyone looking to get away for a quiet weekend check out this property.

Weekend Trip to Casa de Campo
Casa de Campo was everything we were looking for and more! It had everything we needed to be comfortable and the cabin is beautifully decorated. The space is secluded and private with great tree coverage - in the fall, the leaves were gorgeous! Liz and Kevin were so thoughtful and attentive and made sure we were comfortable during our stay.

Our stay at Kevin and Liz’s cabin was absolutely wonderful. The place is so cozy and full of warmth, you can really feel that it was created with love and care. Natalie's bunkie is a truly magical place! The cabin itself is so cozy and thoughtfully provisioned with everything you could need all season round, from practical supplies like cutlery and cookware and a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on cool autumn nights to board games and paperback books and even a portable DVD player for makeshift movie screenings, if you can peel your eyes away from the view of the starry night sky.
The bunkie sits on a scenic body of water and a waterfall that make for great canoeing and swimming or admiring over morning coffee, and the rest of Natalie's property is bursting with whimsical art installments as well as gardens, fire pits, fairy lights, and fields of flowers.
My partner and I have visited twice - in the summer and the in the fall - and have found each season and each stay so uniquely gorgeous and relaxing. If you are looking for a place to retreat from the noise of the world, the bunkie is perfect. Natalie is so warm and welcoming and has put so much care and attention into providing people with a home away from home.

Weekend Trip to Fifthwind
Highly recommended trip with Henry and his funky bunkie! I love every single minute in it. Very clean place, they provide everything you need. Just bring food. Henry is very friendly and intelligent, this bunkie he built is filled with of characters. It’ll be better if the fire pit was closer to the bunkie. It’s definitely a great place for couples and small families to spend some wonderful time at the farm.

Weekend Trip to Fifthwind
We arrived the on the holiday weekend for Thanksgiving and we were fortunate enough to get the Bunkie for an evening unrelatively short notice through HipCamp. The girlfriend and I wanted a small getaway even though we lived within 2 hours of the funky Bunkie.
It was unfortunately raining and not very nice weather that evening. My girlfriend and I settled in made ourselves comfortable and we quite enjoyed our secluded getaway. A couple of times the stars broke out in the evening and it was a beautiful sight.
That being said, Henry, the host give us a tour throughout his amazing property. If anybody who reads this post to the fullest, you will meet the "Doc Brown" of environmental building. What he's done with what he outsourced and is pretty mind-blowing at a construction standpoint. If you're into the stuff, Henry ia enthusiastic to share his creations. :)
Henry and his wife have been amazing hosts and looking for ward to visiting again.

Monica is fantastic host. The campsite is clean. The yellow chalet is cute. Each cottage houses have there own personalities. They have the stuff you need for cooking and fire pit. Access to the water is good. Good for swimming boating and fishing. The hiking trails are marked.
Highlly recommended if you like nature away from city noises.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend
We had a wonderful time at this cabin! Our dog loved exploring the trails and spending time down near the water. We saw so much wildlife and the fall colours were beautiful. As always the cabin was ready for us when we arrived and Katrina & Graham were great hosts. We will be back!
