Wildwood Cottage sits on 6.5 acres overlooking Otonabee River. In the spring summer and fall we have 6 cottages and 2 bunkies. November to April we keep 3 cottages open with hot tubs and wood burning fireplaces. You can watch the birds off your porch, go for a swim at the beach, use a complementary canoe or even rent a boat or seadoo to explore farther! In the summer months we offer a swimming area equipped with kayaks and water inflatables. In the winter, there is a skating rink when the weather permits! Generally Jan & Feb. Dec and Mar the weather sometimes is not cold enough. One of the best things to do any season - sit at your own fire pit and enjoy the clear sky full of stars while listening to the sounds of natures. We are also pet friendly!

An absolutely private site of a former hunting camp above a peaceful lake surrounded by a quiet forest. Three comfortable cabins on site, each with a screened porch, kitchenette, running water, and a tree-house-like sleeping loft, can accommodate up to six guests double occupancy. This completely private property has many trails to explore, comes with a canoe and a rowboat, and is perfect for people of all ages seeking adventure or a tranquil atmosphere to relax and rejuvenate. A cozy adventure retreat in the woods perched above a peaceful paddling lake that is environmentally protected. Many trails throughout the property have diverse character and back onto hundreds of acres of crown land with an abundance of wildlife. This wilderness escape is just a 2-hour drive from Toronto yet completely secluded. There are no people or houses in sight, no cars, no lights – only the whispering of the towering pines and the sounds of nature. There are three comfortable cabins on-site, Pine Ridge, Vista, and Brooks, each uniquely positioned for maximum privacy and unobstructed views. The cabins are accessible by a short walk from the parking lot and come equipped with a kitchenette, a fully screened porch, and a tree-house-like sleeping loft. Vista and Brooks have a wood-burning stove and can be used in winter. Pine Ridge is a 3 season cabin with no heating source. Come here and enjoy nothing but silence - the serenity makes you feel that you are the only one on Earth. Stroll down to the lake to canoe, paddle, swim, fish, or grab your backpack and head down to the QE II Provincial park to explore extensive canoe routes and hiking trails. In the evening, relax with your favourite drink and enjoy the sounds of wildlife around you. In less perfect weather you will find many board games at the cabin or just curl up with a book by a large window on the main floor. Features overview: - Full privacy with private waterfront on a secluded lake - The cabins are hike-in with 90 m (2 min) walk from the parking lot - Two cabins have a wood-burning stove. - Twin size bed is on the main floor and a double size mattress in the sleeping loft - Kitchenette in the cabin equipped with accessories and essentials - Pots/pans/cutlery are provided - Propane portable stove inside the cabin included - Two propane BBQ included - Cold running water in the cabin is not drinkable - Cooler to keep your food fresh included - Outdoor no-flush, composting toilet - For the wood-burning stove, cut and bagged firewood is delivered to the cabin and can be purchased for a $10/bag convenience fee (cash or e-transfer). Loose firewood logs are free - you will need to split them yourself (axes are provided). - Canoe and a rowboat included to explorer around - Excellent cellular phone reception everywhere on the property - Electrical power outlets are not available - Outdoor summer shower - NOTE: guests must climb vertical stairs to sleep in the loft. Sleeping on the main floor (single bed) is an option. - This is a real wilderness camp and is not recommended for small children or infants - To respect guest privacy, the property is not shared between different parties. The Stonefield Gazebos has 3 luxurious units on a beautiful 100 + acre piece of heaven. Our original Lakeside Gazebo is steps from our private lake with its own dock. The White Oaks Gazebo is in our old white oak forest and The Cedars is in our Cedar forest beside a stream and river. Each of these 3 luxurious units are not in close proximity to each other. We designed it this way in order to give our guests the utmost privacy. Each gazebo has its own chic and private outhouse with shower area. All gazebos have beautiful beds with comfy and ultra soft bedding. They are equip with everything you should need from plates, cutlery, BBQ utensils, tea kettle, coffee french press, wine glasses, cups etc. There is a propane BBQ with a side burner ready to cook your meals. There is a dock where you will find the canoes, a kayak, paddles and life jackets. If you paddle out to the middle of the lake you will find a raft with 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella on it. Bring some drinks and snacks, because once there, you will not want to leave. Our curious loons will no doubt swim up close to say hello. Enjoy!! PLEASE NOTE: This retreat does not have electricity. However, a small, silent portable power station is available in each accommodation for guests who wish to charge their phones, laptops and small electrical devices. ***This property is an animal-free zone due to SEVERE allergies. Please don't ask if you can bring your dog, cat etc, or try to sneak them in. This applies to service animals as well unfortunately. Just because different terms are used to describe the same thing, a dog is a dog etc, whether it is your pet or a service animal. Although we do sympathize with people who require service animals, my severe allergies do not know the difference and I do not want to die. Our property is exempt from domestic animals entering the grounds, we ask that you please respect this. We also have deer and other creatures that live around the gazebos. The scent of a dog or other animal would scare them off, fundamentally changing the nature of the experience and impacting it for other guests. This is a beautiful opportunity to reconnect with nature and yourselves, disconnect from the grid and stresses of everyday life. It's a pretty special place and a one of a kind experience. Historical Significance of the property When we first saw the property we were awestruck by its beauty and allure. We were captured by the natural springs, river and stream. It wasn't until after the deal closed that we found out that we also had a lake. What an incredible surprise and gift. It also wasn't until much later that we learned about the historical significance of this special place. It turns out that our property is part of the Percy Portage, which was an important route used for centuries by the Hurons, Iroquois and Mississaugas. It also formed the basis of the first road in the region in the early 19th century for settlers an those heading north. Samuel de Champlain used this portage in September 1615 when he travelled south with his Huron and Algonquin allies on their way to upstate New York. In the 1970's, a group of students from Trent University retraced and marked the route by adding orange metal markers to some of the trees along the way. Some of them are still present today.

Eels Lake is a lake located just north of Kawartha lakes in Highlands East, Haliburton Highlands region of Ontario, Canada. Eel Cow, an Ojibwe chieftain, for which the lake is named, claimed this area and surrounding land as his family's hunting and fishing territory in the early 1800s. The many islands and bays found in the lake make for ideal smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and Rock bass habitat. The lake also has natural population of lake trout, walleye and yellow perch. In order to help preserve the natural lake trout population of Eels Lake, slot size and winter ice fishing restrictions are in place. Echo Shores is located in Unicorn Bay on Eels Lake in Highlands East. The cottage stands on the Canadian Shield with beautiful views of crown land across the bay.
