Pine the Sky

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents8 acres · Southgate, ON
This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. Close to each other, but you'd never know it! All three are chill and serene places. The property backs onto a ten-foot swimming hole in an otherwise shallow part of the Saugeen River. -RV Spot: With electric hook up ideal for RVs 30 feet and under -a connection to the organization, 'Black Folks Camp Too'! Welcoming to all!!!!! So much to see and do in the area!

Olde Eden on Mountain Lake

8 sites · Tents82 acres · Wiarton, ON
Peaceful tent camping with access to Mountain Lake, perfect for nature lovers and self-sufficient campers. The campsites are located down a hill and are close to the lake. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table and ample room for tents. There is one outhouse on the property. There are walking trails to respectfully explore and enjoy local flora and fauna. On clear nights the starry vistas will unfold in the Dark Sky Preserve here on the Bruce Peninsula. The lakefront has a picnic table to enjoy a meal at (no fire pit). You can push off from the shoreline with your kayaks or canoes (bring your own) to explore “The Fens” of Mountain Lake. The lake is NOT suitable for swimming, it has a marl bottom that you will sink into. There is no potable water, please bring your own for drinking and cooking. There are some nice beaches suitable for swimming within a 15-20 minute drive. Sauble Beach is best for a swim and to watch the sunset from. We are located 10 minutes from Wiarton, 20 minutes from Sauble Beach and 1 hour from Tobermory. Enjoy all the Bruce Peninsula has to offer from this convenient base. 2SLGBTQIA supporter 🌈 Please Note: Quiet hours are from 11 p.m. - 6 a.m. Check out time is NOON, unless otherwise pre-arranged with the host. Edges Sideroad Springs

6 sites · Lodging, Tents65 acres · West Grey, ON
We have owned the property for 19 years. The camping area was once a gravel pit which was rehabilitated in 2020. There is agricultural land that is farmed in the summer as well we host bees at that back of the property . A unique feature on the property is a natural spring that bubbles up and feeds the two streams on the property.

A perfect place to escape and rejuvenate the soul! Our beautiful 39-acre property consists of hard and softwood forests, open meadows for activities, and flat and grassy fields. Whether you're camping with your family or with a group of friends, this remote and private property is the perfect destination for a vacation retreat. There are plenty of trails surrounding the property where one can enjoy connecting with the sights and sounds of nature. Plenty of different bird species, rabbits, deer and wild turkeys abound and often on summer nights around the campfire you can hear the howl of the coyotes. This is a beautiful, tranquil piece of paradise, very private and fantastic for stargazing. We also have a couple goats, pot bellied pigs and chickens on the property. Guests can help themselves to the farm fresh eggs when on site camping. Whether you’re bringing an RV or a tent, we have the perfect campsite for you! Camp Willowbrook

6 sites · Lodging95 acres · Amaranth, ON
We purchased this farm in 1998 from the previous farmer who had owned it since 1929. The train line ran right by the gate where the Kota hut now sits and would drop cattle right there to be finished and sold later at the Toronto Stockyards. Our barn was built in 1890 with the old farmhouse located across the creek. Two creeks meet the Grand River on our farm. The bunkie is situated north of the barn and faces Willow creek. During the summer the creek gets quite shallow but there are a couple of pools that work nicely for a float with our river tubes. The river also has a small swimming hole. The bunkie is nestled between 2 hills which creates a natural little valley. Campers can take a walk around the property or use the nearby long walking trail. New this spring, campers will be able to enjoy the firewood sauna, located close to the bunkie and nestled in a private spot near the creek.

Heavens Acres

2 sites · Lodging100 acres · Dornoch, ON
Heavens Acres has been a stop over since the 1850's for people travelling by horse from Toronto to Owen Sound. We have 100 acres surrounded by another 200 acres of conservation land. There is camping in the pine forest as well at the very back of the property where you will find a hardwood bush with trails. Please note that the hipcamp map shows a large body of water on the property, as does google driving maps. It is a marsh, not a lake. Google Earth shows it better. There is however, a creek and pond, but don't bring your boat. :) This is a "LEAVE NO TRACE" campsite, so please take all garbage when you leave.

A Piece of Heaven

2 sites · Tents50 acres · Hanover, ON
A piece of heaven is what awaits you here. If you're looking for privacy your search is over. Imagine having your own island you reach by walking across the 15 metre covered bridge with a few areas to set up your tent(s) from where you'll fall asleep listening to the sound of the spring flowing into the pond, what bliss. The other site has a large rectangular pond of its own to ensure everyone has privacy. Your drinking water comes from Mother Nature, not a well, true spring water that's icy cold and so refreshing. The property is mostly 50 yr old pine trees with a couple walking trails throughout. There are two spring fed ponds which makes them revitalizing on a hot day when you go for a swim. We are located 10 minutes away from the town of Hanover and the Allan Park Conservation is right beside us and has numerous walking and off road bicycling trails. The Saugeen River is 5 minutes away which you can kayak or tube down, too much fun that is. Our property offers beautiful scenery, virtual privacy, you see glimpses of our home, peace and tranquility with the backdrop of Mother Nature to be heard, geese, wild turkeys, deer, lots of songbirds, coyotes and oh yes, our big friendly lovable mutt Walker and the two new dogs who ate getting loveable, Bella and Hunter. The sunsets can be spectacular and later the stars twinkle above and maybe you'll even see a satellite high above while you're stargazing. Each site has a table (you'll need to bring lawn chairs), firepit with a cooking grill, and a supply of wood you'll have to purchase from us upon arrival, as we are a forestry managed property. An outhouse is a pleasant walk within minutes of the site. Water for dishes and general washing can just be taken from the pond (DO NOT DRINK) Not that it would kill you, lol. Ray will keep you supplied with fresh spring water for drinking. Also, the covered bridge is there if, HEAVEN FORBID, it rains, where you can seek coverage and watch and listen to it fall. New to this site is a solar powered string of 300 lights, two single person floats, and a hammock for your added enjoyment. There are numerous things to do within a 15 minute drive. A couple dams, 2 conservation parks, drive-in theatre, casino, horse racing, small stock car racing track (great for young kids), two local breweries, a busy local butcher and the Saugeen River. With more destinations as you move outward. We promise you won't be disappointed and can't wait to share our piece of Heaven with you. TAKE NOTE You will be charged $500 per bag/item of refuse you leave behind. WE DO NOT HAVE GARBAGE PICKUP, besides which you are supposed to leave the site as you found it. CANCELATIONS: IF you cancel within two weeks of your arrival date, your money will NOT be refunded nor will you be able to change the date. We are sorry for this, but we only have a short season, and you'll be using up double the time you booked for. Terry and Ray P.S. Should you wish to come during off season please get in touch and if it's feasible we'll open up.

Laurenwood Farm

7 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres · Loretto, ON
Welcome to Laurenwood Farm! New for 2024: Due to health reasons the farm is fallow this season. It is still a quiet, peaceful escape to the country and you can enjoy all of the amenities but there will be no veggie boxes this season and there are fewer animals to visit. We do have some items available such as honey and syrup. The farm is a 100-acre working livestock and organic mixed produce farm with picturesque views, miles of wooded trails, and a beautiful little fish pond. Fresh organic veggies and farm-fresh eggs are available seasonally. Guests are welcome to wander the trails, check out the pond and gardens, and have a guided tour to experience meeting the animals. Nearby are several conservation areas and access to the Bruce Trail. Walking, biking or horseback riding is very pleasant on the quiet country roads around. There are many local fairs and festivals in the surrounding villages, such as the Beeton Honey Festival and Tottenham Bluegrass Festival. We have three different listings, a cottage, a barn loft, and a tent/RV site. We look forward to hosting you!

Camping near Collingwood guide

Overview

Camping options by the Great Lakes span from quiet respites to adrenaline-filled adventures. Set on the shores of Lake Huron, the area surrounding Collingwood boasts an incredible diversity of natural landscapes—parts of the coastline are more rugged, while other shorelines melt into summer-ready beaches. Explore bounds of rolling hills, dense windspent forests, and biodiverse wetlands with ample wildlife viewing opportunities on your camper trip, during which you can also enjoy the challenge of mountain biking Highlands Nordic, don a wetsuit for scuba diving in Georgian Bay, or learn about local fauna with a guided birdwatching tour. From RV sites with full hookups and fully modern glamping cabins to backcountry tent camping escapes, Hipcampers have plenty of options.

Where to go

Georgian Bay

On the northeastern arm of Lake Huron, Georgian Bay spans 15,000 square kilometres, making it the largest freshwater archipelago in the world. Also known as the 30,000 Islands, Georgian Bay features picturesque blue waters ideal for swimming, fishing, sailing, paddling, and even scuba diving. Look to the air for bald eagles, prairie warblers, monarch butterflies, and mouse-eared bats. Book an oTENTik (a raised canvas tent crossed with an A-frame cabin) at Georgian Bay Islands National Park—these permanent structures are great for families with two queen-sized and one double-sized bed each.

Highlands Nordic

Dubbed Ontario’s premier cross country ski centre, Highlands Nordic is a full winter destination for snowshoeing and skate skiing, too. Campers can warm up by the fireplace in the chalet after a day out on the groomed trails, but thanks to its setting on the Niagara Escarpment, Highlands Nordic isn’t just for snow seekers. The rest of the year, mountain bikers find thrills across challenging terrain (rent bikes on-site or bring your own), as well as 25 kilometres of hiking trails for all ability levels across 800 acres of meadows, hills, and forest. For a more leisurely activity, try disc golf. Nearby cozy cabins and modern lakeside cottages provide creature comforts, while RV parks and tent camping sites sit near Lake Huron.

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park

The busiest provincial park in Ontario, Wasaga Beach welcomes over 1.5 million visitors every year and features 50 kilometres of hiking trails that pass through forest, sand dunes, and wetlands. Guided birdwatching tours, nature walks, and children’s programs give depth to the area’s natural story, too. Summer is especially popular for sunbathers, swimmers, and beach volleyball players, where the beach often reaches capacity by mid-morning on weekends. Visitors must buy a daily vehicle permit or Ontario parks seasonal pass, but once you’re here, stay at one of the park’s 300 campsites in wooded areas with easy beach and park access ranging from primitive tent campsites to trailers, RV parks, yurts, and cabins.

When to go

Warm and sunny summer months are especially popular for basking in the sunshine on the shores of Lake Huron. This also brings the crowds, especially to Wasaga Beach on the weekends. Hipcampers are encouraged to plan accordingly or look for more remote campsites. Typically, camping season runs from late May to early October. For a cooler, quieter trip, plan for an early fall visit instead.
