Beautiful little spot. Our pups loved the pond and stalking the frogs (they were too afraid to get close haha). There is a little clutter at the entry as mentioned in other reviews, but the space down by the pond was clean and offered plenty of space around to enjoy. The ground is a little unlevel, so better suited for a smaller tent then trying to find a space for something larger.
It was awesome camping at peanut pond. Great swimming for the dogs. It was quite private. A lot places to hang up a hammock, nice flat spots for a tent. Nice open sky by the fire pit for star gazing.
Extremely disappointed we had to park just off the road to be able to sleep in the camper. No level spot to park. We only pulled in enough to not be on the road.
You are welcomed to the site by a pile of junk hidden behind a brick wall. It would of taken less time to remove the junk than to build the wall.
The feel if the site was abandoned, the fire pit was in ruin the furniture is broken down. The pond is more of a swamp created by a large crater in the soil and standing water that didn't absorb into the ground. The mosquitoes were too abundant by the "pond".
Nice place, very quiet, fewer mosquitoes than I feared (thank you frogs and dragonflies). The hammock was an unexpected bonus. I personally wouldn't want to swim in the pond (it's a bit overgrown with plenty of algae) but YMMV. I enjoyed my stay.
*If your looking for local wood there, in the town of Flesherton (12 min drive) is a Shell gas station which sells bundles.
The site was easy to find with the road sign of the address number given, and parking was straight forward, if only on a notable downward hill.
Getting to the pond was simple enough and the site is quite nice.
There is a walking path which goes around the pond which was a bit under maintained at the time of my visit, with overgrowth throughout the middle of the path.
Overall it was a great isolated place to camp at.
Beautiful site, nice and private! Hubby and I absolutely loved our stay and will be visiting again.
The outhouse was fantastic, much nicer than I was anticipating. Had a fire pit with grill, chairs, and a table - there was also BBQ equipment (including flippers).
Super quiet and private but be warned it definitely gets dark at night, perfect for stargazing by the pond.
It's a very large and private site with a bit of a incline between the parking and the pond. Dariusz was very accommodating and replied quickly to messages.
Overall, had a nice experience. The campsite is just secluded enough, but provided easy access to your car (~30m). the pond was lovely and my son loved all the frogs. There was a fair bit of trash littering the site which wasn’t ideal.
Tenting at peanut pound was awesome! Beautiful secluded area just down the road from a lake and not far from other towns to explore! The property was a little overgrown with weeds but didn’t bother us. Will definitely come back:)
Really enjoyed our stay at peanut pond! Great for stargazing as long as the weather permits, and lots of wildlife around to admire. Great spot if you just wanna kick back and relax, and enjoy nature :)
This was a very “humbling detox”. If you are exhausted from adulting and need a quick break from world with your people or even yourself alone - this is going to be an experience for life. Quiet, quaint and very natural. Thank you! This was perfect.
Beautiful private site, and only 30-40 minutes from local climbing, hiking and mountain biking areas in the Beaver Valley. The site has a pond with a path all the way around it, some flat areas for tents, and cedar woodland between the pond and the road which is ideal for hammock camping or small tents. Low light pollution in the area means the stars are very clear.
Peanut Pond was a great last minute escape from everyday noise! It's not too far from local towns. This property is on a quiet gravel road, and the pond is tucked down away from the road/parking spot. (I do suggest a wagon to carry your camping gear down the small hill.) The pond was full of frogs, wouldn't suggest swimming in it, but it added to the beautiful landscape. The was a hammock, a fire pit, an outhouse ( pack your own tp) and a great little Coleman BBQ. There are lots of fallen trees and loose branches for firewood, bringing a small hatchet would make this easier. Overall this was a great Hipcamp experience and we'll definitely be back!
It was a very nice experience comparing to overcrowded campsites in the provincial parks. The place is completely private in the woods. We could set up the tent in the woods and do Bbq near the little pond. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. Great experience overall!
A secluded, quiet campsite that you have to walk down (roughly 35ft) from the parking. Overall the experience was wonderful. With many options to set up your tent, as the lot is fairly large you can shelter at almost any corner from the entrance. Unfortunately, there isn't much space to pitch a large tent by the pond. The fireplace is large, which poses a bit of a challenge to make smaller campfires. Though, with plenty of firewood all over the site, you can make large campfires. There are many functional tables on the site, giving the ability to lounge and gather at different points. The pond itself is relatively peaceful and very clean. Several frogs can be found. A short walk can be made around the pond for a small scenic adventure. I would recommend this campsite for any new campers, and anyone just looking to get away with little noise.
Quiet location. Very overgrown compared to photos. The firepit was knocked down and not functional for us who cook over fire. After we re-built firepit "wall" . We were able to make it work. There were 2 piles of "storage" that included wheel barrows, tarps, bricks hoses ect...the pictures are not what we encountered! Having said that- campers make the best out of time in nature, outdoors- The frogs, birds and quiet road were peaceful and relaxing. We brought our own wood but there was a generous supply all over the site.
Great campsite in the middle of the woods right next to a lovely pond, completely secluded. Tons of firewood, outhouse was clean and well maintained, the fire pit was even surrounded by bricks such that you could use it as an oven, it was awesome.
Short walk down a hill from where you park your car to where you set up your tent near the pond makes you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere, but nice touches like a little patio and a path around the pond made the site feel welcoming and cozy. Had a wonderful time. :)
