This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. Adventure awaits at this eco-camping hostel offering a natural setting, overlooking a picturesque valley. We have a half acre lake front lot with privacy. We have access directly to the lake from the lot and a laneway for a small boat as well. There is fishing, paddle boarding, boating, hiking and walking on these quiet roads in the wilderness. The Bay of Fundy is down the road maybe 2-5 min. If you want peace and quiet then here it is, a nice fresh lot on a lake out in the middle of no where. We DO NOT have any any of the equipment (kayaks, paddle boards and fishing equip) there you must bring your own. There is no washroom or electricity yet, so please be aware of this.

There were many wharves with wooden ships tied up. The long white building on the corner used to be on the bar. A walk along the bar will award you with a view of the Keltic Lodge. This is a sweet little property of approximately an acre, though the whole lake is undeveloped. The site is treed with mostly mature trees and overlooks Little Robertson Lake. The lake is close, but the shoreline is not extremely easy to access. This campsite is private, but not remote. It is located close to a byway and you can drive in. There is not too much traffic on the adjacent road which leads to several white sand ocean beaches and trails along with Keji Seaside National Park and Thomas Raddall Provincial Park. We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore. Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed. Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home. Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

Our family had a really nice stay at Karen’s camp. Having the dock right there made it easy to get out on the water with the paddle boards and kayaks, and it was great not having to bring our own. The fire pit is close to the water too, which made for a really nice spot to sit in the evenings. We actually didn’t even set up our tents and just slept on the platforms. A few things worth knowing: * We found the canoe pretty tippy. It worked, but it wasn’t very relaxing, so we ended up not using it. * The owners were very helpful when we asked for more drinking water. There were six of us, and we went through the first big jug in about a day. * Caledonia is only about a 15-minute drive away and has a small grocery store if you need to pick up a few things. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and had a great time being right by the water.

Alan met us at the driveway and was super friendly. It was very cool to be hosted by a real native whose family has been there since the 18th Century. The site was simple and very nice, high above a tributary to Barney’s River. Unfortunately there were plenty of mosquitoes following the rain the day before.

We had a great time at the Owls Nest-The Perch. Unfortunately we didn’t have the best weather for the majority of our stay but we made the best of it….went fishing and with the perch had a dry area to enjoy!!! Would highly recommend recommend 5/5

Absolutely beautiful stay at Smokey View! The setting is peaceful, private, and incredibly scenic, with stunning views and the perfect atmosphere to disconnect and enjoy nature. The campsite was thoughtfully set up and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We loved waking up surrounded by such beautiful scenery right on the water and spending our evenings taking it all in. Blair is an incredible nice host.
