This was one of the original homesteads in the Margarees. There was an old sawmill on site which was used to build the house and barn. It was sold to a man who started renovations for a summer house but ended up listing it for sale. I purchased it and completely renovated the 100-year-old house. Shortly after, my brother and I started an outfitting company with no plan of building a campground, but in 2017 we saw a great opportunity for building something unique. We wanted to keep a backwoods camping feel, but yet create it around a hostel-inspired environment. We launched June 1, 2018 and are in full swing now. At the other side of the harbour is Ingonish Ferry. At one time the road around the harbour did not exist. People, horses and goods came across the bar by means of a ferry. There were many wharves with wooden ships tied up.
The long white building on the corner used to be on the bar.
A walk along the bar will award you with a view of the Keltic Lodge. Continue straight at the corner and you will find a trail that will take you to Ingonish beach.

We have a half acre lake front lot with privacy. We have access directly to the lake from the lot and a laneway for a small boat as well. There is fishing, paddle boarding, boating, hiking and walking on these quiet roads in the wilderness. The Bay of Fundy is down the road maybe 2-5 min. If you want peace and quiet then here it is, a nice fresh lot on a lake out in the middle of no where. We DO NOT have any any of the equipment (kayaks, paddle boards and fishing equip) there you must bring your own.
There is no washroom or electricity yet, so please be aware of this.

This is a sweet little property of approximately an acre, though the whole lake is undeveloped. The site is treed with mostly mature trees and overlooks Little Robertson Lake. The lake is close, but the shoreline is not extremely easy to access. This campsite is private, but not remote. It is located close to a byway and you can drive in. There is not too much traffic on the adjacent road which leads to several white sand ocean beaches and trails along with Keji Seaside National Park and Thomas Raddall Provincial Park. All within a few minutes drive.

This is one of the original properties for the area. Owned by one lovely family since the 1700's until your current (very lucky) host. The house was the post office from 1861 to 1961. One of the rooms was the hospice for the area... SPOOOOOKY!!!
There is a culvert from the 1700's on the property from where the province moved the highway sometime before the 40's. Neat!
Reggie took over ownership in 2020 and is keeping things as original as possible, but adding his touch, like his battle axe travel trailer, Franny, which makes her home in the driveway. She's worth a visit!
- TENT ADVANCED LEVEL LAKESIDE is by far the most beautiful; however, it is a small area, located on the edge of the property, and I can't be responsible for the neighbours to a certain extent.
Fort Nova is your home for as long as you choose. Let's get campy!
**KEEP IN MIND THAT THERE MAY BE OTHERS STAYING THERE** But there are multiple areas to choose from, including: the lawn, living amongst the pines, a forest clearing, or even lakeside (it's rough back there). You can have complete privacy and feel free to reach out to me at the house if you need anything.
For those with RV's, there is an exterior outlet and a water spigot, but please remember, others might be staying there so we need to play nice and share!
On the property, there is:
- A decent-sized lake (I wish I had a canoe... :( )
- 1700's abandoned bridge
- Lots of foraging (Won't be held liable if ya eat something silly!)
- Rail Trail (runs through the property)

This 5 acre private campsite is located right off highway 316 very close to Tor Bay Provincial Park, which offers a lovely beach and trails. Basin Brook Camp features a driveway quickly leading to a flat area suitable for a trailer or tents. The property overlooks a wilderness area with stunning sunsets and quiet moonlit nights. It has a cleared area in which blackberries, raspberries and blueberries grow. At the back of this cleared area is a marked trail leading to the shoreline on Gammons Basin. Along one side of the campsite land is Basin Brook, which is a tidal stream that can be accessed easily by the road. Deer have been seen on the property, and moose, otters and seabirds nearby. Basin Brook Camp is quiet and secluded with no neighbours in sight.
Please note that this is a drive on and off site so a trailer would need to be backed in. There is no room to turn around.

We own 58 acres of forest centered on a very old shale pit near Crescent Beach, Nova Scotia. Our long-term mission is to regenerate the landscape, returning all of the property to a forest in time. We hope to establish small camping compounds for family, friends and guests who would like to stay with us and enjoy the amazing scenery of Nova Scotia's beautiful South Shore.
Located just below Huey Lake, our property is watered by a stream that flows from the lake, through a series of tiny waterfalls in a gorge, through beautiful pine, maple, and oak forest down to a meandering wetland that drains into the Petite Riviere watershed.
Beavers are active in the area and have already begun the process of returning the old quarry to the wilderness. Their activities have created deep ponds where once there was a pit dug from the land for the shale that is abundant in this area. The beavers dammed and diverted the stream which has created a pond and wetland system at the lower end of the property. If you are very quiet in the early morning you may get to see Castor as he busily swims about his watery home.
Located near some of the most beautiful features of Lunenburg County, our property is a 5-minute drive from Crescent Beach, Risser's Beach Provincial Park, and Petite Riviere. Opportunities to cycle, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, surf and sail are all around us.

We had a wonderful stay at Sally’s Brook Luxury Resort. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, making it a perfect place to slow down and enjoy nature.
The accommodations were clean, comfortable, thoughtfully designed, and offered a great balance of privacy and relaxation.
Everything felt well cared for and welcoming, and it was exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for during our trip through Nova Scotia.

Our family had a really nice stay at Karen’s camp. Having the dock right there made it easy to get out on the water with the paddle boards and kayaks, and it was great not having to bring our own. The fire pit is close to the water too, which made for a really nice spot to sit in the evenings. We actually didn’t even set up our tents and just slept on the platforms.
A few things worth knowing:
* We found the canoe pretty tippy. It worked, but it wasn’t very relaxing, so we ended up not using it.
* The owners were very helpful when we asked for more drinking water. There were six of us, and we went through the first big jug in about a day.
* Caledonia is only about a 15-minute drive away and has a small grocery store if you need to pick up a few things.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and had a great time being right by the water.

This site was our first stop in our RV and it couldn’t have been any better! The ground was level, we had electricity, water and a place to dump. The surroundings were amazing. Screened gazebo, wood pit and wood.

Alan met us at the driveway and was super friendly. It was very cool to be hosted by a real native whose family has been there since the 18th Century. The site was simple and very nice, high above a tributary to Barney’s River. Unfortunately there were plenty of mosquitoes following the rain the day before.

We loved our stay at Black Rock Stables. Kim is very reactive and the location is pure paradise. The horses are very friendly and the view from site 1 is breathtaking! The property is isolated but accessible. The toilet and shower were very well maintained. Would definitely come again !

If you have a small rig, site No2 is one of the best site we ahve ever seen. You feel like you in your private little forest.

Sally’s is as delightful as it looks in pictures! The pod we stayed in was clean, comfortable and charming, and well-stocked. We only stayed briefly so I didn’t explore the shared facilities much but washrooms and showers were clean and pleasant. Overall really enjoyed our stay and hope to stay longer next time!
