We are just across the lake and are accessed by the first electric shuttle ferry service in BC. If you are looking to escape the crowded tourist areas but want to feel safe and comfortable, then this is your place. We are surrounded by hiking, biking and ATV trails waiting to be explored. We offer complimentary kayaks and bicycles to explore the beauty that surrounds us. A few miles down the road is Saddle mountain hiking trail, a challenging hike with breathtaking views all the way up. At the top of Saddle Mountain is a look out building with 360 panoramic views that is free to use. A short walk or bike ride from the camp site, through old growth cedar groves and orchard will lead you to Arrow Lake where you can enjoy all types of water activities or take a walk to explore many of the areas private beaches. Grab a kayak or SUP board and explore our many secluded, sandy beach spots. Come and enjoy our beautiful wilderness, It's a whole other world over here.....

1) .”How far are we from Banff…
2 hours of a beautiful drive that includes kootenay national park.
2)..Important ❗️❗️Please do not bring firewood from other areas to our camp as our property is heavily treed forest and we do not want any transfer of raw wood bugs. We offer $10 generous bundles of wood.
3) When you book, One tent or RV and one vehicle per site. If you are looking to book for a group of friends/family area, we can help with that.. prior to booking.
Also, we reserve the right to put you in the best possible spot to fit in a proper site for what you are camping in and what your needs are. Often people book a site that’s completely wrong for them… but that’s ok… we will fix it. 😊
4) Smoking only on sand at sites and nowhere else on our property Please use a container to hold your butts.
5) Noise restrictions after 9pm…no music or loud behaviour after that. Strictly enforced. We value respect in the camp for all campers.
6) Once you book, we will reply back with important information on the phone number you booked with. Please check for our messages to you for a smooth booking and arrival.
Campers… please do Not put any garbage, of any kind, and especially diapers in our pit toilets. . thank you

We loved our stay here! Berny is an incredible host. Warm and welcoming and full of great information about the area. And her pot pies, smoked pulled pork, and cinnamon buns were amazing—all delivered hot right to our campsite! And the site was awesome: beautiful, with the best outhouse you’ll ever use. We loved the hike to the river overlook too. Go!

I can’t wait to come back! John and Michelle have created a lovely and thoughtful way to share their piece of Kootenay paradise. The micro cabin has everything I needed and I’ve never slept so well - incredibly quiet with stunning mountain vistas (and the view from the outdoor shower is top notch). Appreciated having the camp stove and propane, hot showers, clean ‘drop’ toilets, towels, wash station with soap and sponge right outside the cabin, bedding, and of course, Boss the friendly dog. I think I saw every star in the galaxy after dark. The adorable (easy and quick) ferry across to their property was icing on the cake.

We had a wonderful few days at Monica's campsite. The directions were great and easy to follow. Which helped tremendously since it was already dark when we got there. The site was peaceful and relaxing. We really enjoyed falling asleep listening to the nearby creek. The flattened clearing was a nice change. Much cleaner area to camp at than gravel/sand. Our trailer was too big to drive through the trees (27 ft plus the truck) so we turned around and backed into the site. That worked. Lol. Great location. Very scenic. Even the town of Nukusp was beautiful to visit and just a short drive away. And the Nakusp Hot Springs were a welcome treat. Monica was a fantastic hostess. Really nice lady. Provided us with some lovely daytrip ideas in the area, like a nearby waterfall. Would definitely recommend.

Another season has wrapped up at Blacksmith Landing and I definitely left the camp very emotional! We absolutely love this place. The campground is immaculate, so well taken care of. Every activity you might want to do is close by, more beautiful lakes to choose from than you have time for! The owners are the most hospitable, lovely people (with the best stories!) and the FOOD. Worth the trip on it's own. Our entire family cherishes every weekend here and we can't wait until next season!!!!

We had a lovely stay at HipCamp - a great way to break up our road trip. Brent and Stuart went above and beyond to welcome us and ensure we had everything we needed. You can see that they take great pride in their place and in hosting guests. For instance the outhouses were extremely clean and were decorated so that you did not feel like you were using an outhouse.

We absolutely loved our time at Bernie & Stuart's! They were incredibly warm and welcoming, and we're so grateful they opened up their stunning property to campers, like us. We purchased & were treated to a delicious meal and treats from Bernie.
The hike on the property to the breathtaking Kootenay River view was a highlight, as was finding the charming tree book nook. For anyone boondocking, Bernie's "cutest little loo" is a huge plus!
We highly recommend staying here!! You will love it!

Weekend Trip to Kootenay born camping by Arrow lake
One of the best places we stayed throughout the hipcamp camping sites we have visited. Great place for bikers to pitch tents and use the covered kitchen, or stay in a micro cabin that includes everything you use at home. The showers are great and washrooms clean and easy to use. Peddle bikes available for biking some awesome trails there and pathways down to the lake where they also have kayaks you can paddle out on the lake. We really wish we could have stayed longer because John and Michelle were so accomodating and inviting. We can't wait to go back with our RV and tour the many lakes with our ebikes. I also notice great tenting spots with hammocks deep in the wooded trees, so cool. Definitely booking for next year.

The hosts were so lovely and welcoming! They were very helpful in getting us additional drinking water when needed, and were very accommodating helping us get a site that was right for my (special) dogs and myself with advance requests. I would definitely recommend.
Only thing to note is that thew geographic region is inherently very dusty due to very small particle soil (mostly silt), so be prepared for many things to be very dusty when camping in the region regardless ;)

Bernie and Stuart are such wonderful people. You can really feel and are that they put their heart and soul in running the campground. They waited for us at the gate (as they do for every camper!!) and gave us a warm welcome.
In the morning we ordered some home made cinnamon rolls and they were delicious. After that we took a walk towards the campground ridge (about 20mins) and enjoyed the breath taking views of the Kootenay river.
We had a blast!

There is a certain aura of careful craftsmanship about Blacksmith Landing.. both from Berny, Stuart, and mother nature herself. Stuart's woodwork/groundskeeping, Berny's hospitality (delicious cinnamon bun btw) and the Bunny trail (which is simply stunning if you slow down and visit close to/during sunset) give you more than enough to enjoy the site alone. Yet there are plenty of hikes and other adventures like Zipline, rafting, hot springs, etc. very close by if you need to add-on. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and can see why people rate this Eco Camp so highly

From the moment you arrive as strangers, you are greeted by friends who make your stay as wonderful as possible. It’s always worth booking, regardless of what sites are available, as Berny and Stuart do their best to arrange campers according to their needs.
Campsites are very tidy, outhouses are cute and clean, and the space between sites are lovely.
While a 20ish minute walk down a forested trail, the river bluffs are truly a spectacular vista. The benches there makes for the perfect place of solitude to watch the sunset over the grand Kootenay River valley. If you are more adventurous, the trail continues, allowing you to go down and swim in the river. However, there is no beach, and the water is pretty fast, so this is more just information for only the few desperate to cool off!
Please know that the privilege of having this location so easy to access off of Hwy 93, means that you are still close to a busy highway. This doesn’t make the place any less magical, but don’t think the physics of sound stops working here.
As long as those things are clear in your expectation, you will not be disappointed!
So much to discover in the Kootenay valley, and Blacksmith Landing Eco Camp is both the perfect base camp to many days of hiking and hot springs, or a rejuvenating retreat unto itself.

This place is amazing! Beautiful, peaceful and the owners are absolutely lovely. They welcomed us and showed us to our camping spot (even though we arrived past 9:30 pm). We were able to purchase wood for a fire from them and they have camping chairs you can borrow.
The outhouse is spotless clean. An amazing experience! We will be back!
