Welcome to 28 acres of forests, mountains, creeks, a river and all that comes with it!
We live in a little off-grid cabin deep in the Yalakom Valley in a small community of rustic-living and friendly folks. Please note that this property is located 40 km outside of Lillooet. Part of the road is a dirt road and a bit bumpy, best for cars that don't mind roughing it a little bit, and best for people who don't fear cliffs. You also lose service 5 minutes outside of Lillooet.
The property is surrounded by one other large private lot on one side and some steep crown land on the other. You can explore our lot down to the river or you can drive to other locations like the Horseshoe (a great swim spot), Carpenter Lake (great for swimming, too), Lac La Mere (good for fishing), Carol Lake, and much more.
All sites are located 150-200 feet away from our main house and share the same outhouse. However, it is unlikely for us to have more than one site booked the same time, so there is ample privacy.
This is a somewhat rustic and rugged spot- if you are looking for fancy glamping this is not the space for you! Vancouverites, you've been warned!

There is a fancy outhouse that flushes water and is equipped with a sink. This space is best suited for a single, a couple, and possibly a fur baby and/or little one.
We are located on a quiet residential street 20 minutes from Port Alberni and en route to Tofino or Ucluelet. We have walking and mountain biking trails minutes from the house.
If you are bringing a fur baby, please let us know. It must be on a leash at all times. Please bring your fur baby's favourite blanket or bed to sleep on. We kindly ask that you keep your fur baby off the furniture and bed, and that you please not leave your pet unattended.
The Portal has internet and spotty cell service. There is an outlet for charging, etc. Parking is on-site. Local food options include the "The Fish & Duck Pub" which is just a short walk away. Call Doordash to deliver a meal from one of our local restaurants, such as Sproat Lake Landing, or bring a picnic to enjoy.

A magical experience awaits you on the majestic Sunshine Coast of British Columbia near the Village of Egmont. Nestle into our modern rustic cabins or set up camp beneath the towering evergreens. We, your hosts, and our yard-full of farm friends live just up the hill, but we sneak out often to welcome our guests.
Strongwater Camping and Cabins offers bookings year-round. Choose from our 8 rustic cabins or 8 large campsites to accommodate your next relaxing get-away or refreshing retreat. Bookings are usually a 2-night minimum. 1-night may be available at the discretion of the Hosts. New to our accommodations are the SkookumBus and a Glamping Tent (summer only)!
Our hand-built cabins provide a simply magical experience, with warm, comfy beds and bedside table, a fan for summer or a heater for winter. Nearly every cabin features a small table and chairs and a mini-fridge plus an outdoor fire pit and a picnic table. The cabins’ decks are surrounded by forest. Firewood is available for $30/wheelbarrow on site when available (unless we have a fire ban.)
All campsites include the fire pit and picnic table.
Everyone has easy access to the spa-like washrooms with coin-operated hot showers and flush toilets. Children 8 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult in the Wash house. There’s a dish washing station in the center of the Wash House where you can refill your water jugs and bottles or wash dishes. Please do not use for washing hair or laundry or tooth brushing. We ask that you conserve water and keep the Wash House clean.

Fishing, canoeing, or just lying on a beach. Sitting on the deck of your cozy cabin, reading a book or soaking in the magic.
If you are a thrill-seeker, then adventure awaits on the turbulent waters of Skookumchuk Narrows, the rapids for which our magical place is named. Our ranch is on Gun Creek Road, close to Tyax Lake, 30 minutes from Gold Bridge and Bralorne. It is about 2 hours west of Lillooet or north of Pemberton (6 hours from Vancouver) on a remote road with paved and gravel sections and no cell service.
There is no cell service or TV at our location. Wi‑Fi is usually available but cannot be guaranteed due to weather and other natural factors outside our control. We have access to a landline if urgent calls need to be made.
You are responsible for leaving the cabin/your room and the area around it clean and free of food and garbage. Each guest is responsible for cleaning the cabins when they leave, such as doing the laundry, washing all dishes. At the end of your stay, please bring all garbage to the main house so we do not attract critters and bears.
We live in a true wilderness environment. The cabin water system uses filtered creek water and, though not common, there is always the possibility for water pressure to fluctuate.
Weather and other variables can change quickly in the mountains. We expect guests to approach challenges with a positive, solution‑oriented mindset and to be respectful of nature, other guests and our team. We are experienced in dealing with nature’s challenges and will find a solution together.

I brought two friends who were first time visitors to Canada and they loved the whole experience!
The cabin itself was small but very very cozy (3 adults & 1 dog), and waking up to a big window facing the forest was my favourite part. The washroom was very clean, and there were enough kitchen utensils for us to cook hotpot.
It was close to a few good trails around cultus too. Really recommend this place for those who want to camp but want no hassle and a soft bed to sleep in :))

Lovely stay by the lake! It was cozy and the host was super responsive and nice. It was camping without the hassle and with all the creature comforts. Aside from the lake, the location is a great jumping off point for so many hikes! There are some restaurants nearby as well, if you get tired of cooking and you can easily get to town in 10 mins if you need more supplies.
When we went, there were no bugs and a few wildlife sightings (woodpecker and deer). The porch was a great place to hang out.

The stay with Heloise at this location was very convenient for me! It was right by the galloping goose trail. The kitchen was very cute and the bed cozy (though small) . We slept easily and it was very quiet. The outdoor shower was really cool, good water pressure and was nice and hot. I’d stay here again in the off season.

We had a wonderful stay at Mixed Barrel Farm. Leah made us feel very welcome and was very kind and patient with our daughter - showing her around the farm and letting her feed the chickens and pick her own grapes. The farm is very peaceful and getting to enjoy a campfire under the stars was a treat. A very special stay, especially for families with young kids. I’m sure we will be back another time!

Weekend Trip to Lakewood Cabins
Wow, I can't say enough about this place! Michael was wildly responsive, first of all. Detailed instructions on how to get there, how to get into the property, and even immediately responded about whether or not we could feed his horse a treat (answer: yes, if it's fruit and make sure it's cut up).
The cabin itself was great: as described and then some. There was wifi (?!), a full television with roku, space to sleep, and enough counter space to prepare a basic meal. I didn't expect the pots and pans, oil and salt, microwave, kettle, coffee maker... geez! AND AN OUTDOOR SHOWER.
This specific cabin is slightly pushed back from the main field by 3 meters and some trees, nothing extreme and adding even more privacy. There is a separate restroom with a flushing toilet and sink 5 meters away, very easy to access and clean.
There's a horse. We saw bunnies. There's a really well done little path full of surprises. If I had kids, they'd love this. I'm an adult and I loved it!
This place is really well thought through, very homemade/made with love, and slightly nicer than the photos. I was expecting a campsite and got a rustic bnb (I've had less nice bnbs).
I debated writing this review so honestly because I would love to rebook at the same rate. Michael C is running a considerate, well-managed, and tight ship. Please book him out to keep this spot going but leave me time to get my next booking in!

Wow! That was a completely wonderful experience! Sully is an amazing host. The cabin is in close proximity to lots of fun activities, relaxing magical property that is great to explore, cozy cabin, cute animals. Couldn’t ask for more. We enjoyed roasting hot dogs and s’mores around the fire pit, comfy beds, good water, crickets chirping and rooster wake up calls! Highly recommend. Overall a memorable family trip.
