Tucked away in quiet Takalarup, we are surrounded by nature, in particular - amazing bird life! Kangaroos are often seen jumping through the paddocks on dusk. The sunsets from the campsite over the Porongurup Ranges are a great way to finish each day at Rocky's Retreat. Meet our friendly resident sheep - pellets available to feed them, and they love pats! We only accept one booking at a time to allow our guests privacy and plenty of space. Well-behaved, socialised, on-lead pets are welcome too. We are located approx. 40km from Mt Barker, 50km from Albany, 15km to Porongurup National Park and 45km to Stirling Range National Park. Within a short drive you can find incredible local wineries, cafes and restaurants. The property makes a great base camp for day trips to Denmark, Albany, Mt Barker, Stirling Ranges and the Porongurup Ranges. If you are wanting to cool off at the campsite, a swimming spot on the upper Kalgan River is 800 metres down the road. Please note - we have recently undertaken significant native revegetation around the camp site, planting approx. 6,000 native seedlings for native flora and fauna habitat. Therefore, the site looks different to some of the previous photos showing open paddocks. Please refer to the photo in our listing taken in Summer that shows the native revegatation with tree guards around each seedling. Campers must be self-contained, with their own in-built camp toilet, and leave no trace. Dump points are available in Mt Barker and Albany. Telstra works in most areas. We don't take bookings for tents/swags by themselves at this stage. We look forward to welcoming you to stay at Rocky's Retreat. As you are the only ones camping, you're welcome to make a bit of noise (music, generators etc). The Rockcliffe vineyard was originally an apple orchard. In 1990, the first vines were planted, and in 2007 we built a "State of the Art winery", which is located on the property. Rockcliffe is now the biggest winery in the region. We sell wines all over the world and in Australia. We focus on producing small batches of high-quality wines, all of which can be tasted at the Rockcliffe Cellar Door. We welcome self-contained travelers to come and stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights maximum. On booking your site, you will be amongst the vines on one of our levelled bays which are allocated on a first come basis. It is important you have your own toilet, as we do not offer facilities here outside of our cellar door hours. Overflow camping is also available in the paddock across from the winery, suitable over summer when it is dry and we are running our summer music events over the weekend. Please get in touch to enquire about this. The place is very quiet, being in a rural setting, but only 4km from Denmark town. If you are a cyclist, this is an ideal place to stay. We have a mountain biking track that goes around the vines, paddocks, and through the forests, all of which are part of the beautiful Rockcliffe property. The camping areas are a very short walk to the cellar door where you can taste all of our delicious wines or treat your children to Gelato and Fudge. We also offer Cheese Platters, Pizza's and Fries. The kitchen is open from 12-4pm for lunch Sunday through till Thursday and from 1-7pm for lunch and dinner Friday and Saturdays.

The property is pretty close to the Stirling Range National Park, Porongurup National park, Frankland wine district and lake Poorrarecup. Wongin Mia makes an excellent base for exploring this picturesque area. Birdlife is plentiful including parrots, wedge tail eagles, red breasted wrens, Carnaby's and Boudin's, Night jars, Willy wagtails, Barking owls and Welcome swallows. And of course there's plenty of kangaroos and wallabies. This is a unique property where you will experience a true bush environment with seclusion and tranquillity. The track through the forest to the main campsite is about 3.5m wide, it can get a little slippery so caution is needed, a 4WD is recommended if towing a camper or caravan during the winter months. 2WD is ok in summer months. There is one transportable long drop toilet near site 1. There is a fire pit for cooking but other from that you have to be self sufficient. There is access to drinking water up at the house. If the campsite is unavailable or you don't won't to drive through the forest, you are welcome to set up camp on the green pastures with great views but there are NO amenities there and you would have to be completely self-contained. We are closed for the summer harvest season, see you at Easter 2026, 20 kms south of Gnowangerup and 30 kms north of the Stirling Range, Kybelup Crossing Camp is located on our farm Kalynda and is found on the banks of the upper reaches of the Pallinup River at the Kybelup Crossing. We are a 90 hectare working farm, surrounded by large boardacre cropping farms. Half the farm is dedicated to cropping and open fields, with the remaining given over to regrowth and natural river bank forest. Go for bush walks on the property, birdwatching, orchid hunting, flat water canoeing in the river (conditions permitting). There is plenty of wildlife to spot, with Kangaroos and Echidnas making the river bank their home and plenty of bird life. Night spotlighting and you may see owls, kangaroos, possums and other marsupials. The Pallinup is a naturally salty river and is not palatable. We are within easy reach of the Stirling Range and the iconic Bluff Knoll. See the mountains from the farm and know what walking conditions will be like. September to October is the peak wild flower season, but there is something flowering all year. Use the farm as a base to explore the Stirling Range and the surrounding farming district of the Gnowangerup Shire. The farm is along the Horse Power Highway where visitors can see a collection of quirky tractors – download the tractor map. Take a day trip through the Stirling Range Drive and to the Porongurups, where you can stop at wineries along the way. Kalynda is a completely off grid property. Located up a private bush track. There is reasonable phone reception for Telstra customers only – enjoy the serenity and go off-line for a weekend. The camp sites are private, within an easy stroll of the river and the house yard. Campers need to be self sufficient (including bringing their own toilet) and leave no trace. Dogs are permitted but need to be restrained. Camp fires are permitted in the open fire season in the designated fire pits. Closest shop and fuel is at Gnowangerup (20kms) with limited opening hours on weekends and public holidays. Kybelup Crossing Camp is open for campers from Easter until mid October. We are closed over the summer and harvest period. Optional extras include: tank water, cut firewood.

The Rockcliffe vineyard was originally an apple orchard. In 1990, the first vines were planted, and in 2007 we built a "State of the Art winery", which is located on the property. Rockcliffe is now the biggest winery in the region. We sell wines all over the world and in Australia. We focus on producing small batches of high-quality wines, all of which can be tasted at the Rockcliffe Cellar Door. We welcome self-contained travelers to come and stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights maximum. On booking your site, you will be amongst the vines on one of our levelled bays which are allocated on a first come basis. It is important you have your own toilet, as we do not offer facilities here outside of our cellar door hours. Overflow camping is also available in the paddock across from the winery, suitable over summer when it is dry and we are running our summer music events over the weekend. Please get in touch to enquire about this. The place is very quiet, being in a rural setting, but only 4km from Denmark town. If you are a cyclist, this is an ideal place to stay. We have a mountain biking track that goes around the vines, paddocks, and through the forests, all of which are part of the beautiful Rockcliffe property. The camping areas are a very short walk to the cellar door where you can taste all of our delicious wines or treat your children to Gelato and Fudge. We also offer Cheese Platters, Pizza's and Fries. The kitchen is open from 12-4pm for lunch Sunday through till Thursday and from 1-7pm for lunch and dinner Friday and Saturdays.

This is an environmental project which is endeavouring to create a green corridor from Augusta to the Nullarbor to allow the fauna to travel freely when migrating. We have wild flowers all year round but the spring months bring an abundance of Orchids and wild flowers. Bush lovers will be inspired with plenty of wildlife about. You can have a camp fire in winter although you will need to bring some firewood, there's plenty of kindling, or you can purchase a bundle from us if you wish. The campsites are level and grassy and suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. We are about an hour drive north of Albany and 300 kilometres south of Perth. The property is pretty close to the Stirling Range National Park, Porongurup National park, Frankland wine district and lake Poorrarecup. Wongin Mia makes an excellent base for exploring this picturesque area. Birdlife is plentiful including parrots, wedge tail eagles, red breasted wrens, Carnaby's and Boudin's, Night jars, Willy wagtails, Barking owls and Welcome swallows. And of course there's plenty of kangaroos and wallabies. This is a unique property where you will experience a true bush environment with seclusion and tranquillity. *This property has 70 acres of lush Karri forest with the original old logging trails from approximately 100 years ago, which make for beautiful nature walks. The track through the forest to the main campsite is about 3.5m wide, it can get a little slippery so caution is needed, a 4WD is recommended if towing a camper or caravan during the winter months. 2WD is ok in summer months. There is one transportable long drop toilet near site 1. There is a fire pit for cooking but other from that you have to be self sufficient. There is access to drinking water up at the house. If the campsite is unavailable or you don't won't to drive through the forest, you are welcome to set up camp on the green pastures with great views but there are NO amenities there and you would have to be completely self-contained. We are closed for the summer harvest season, see you at Easter 2026, 20 kms south of Gnowangerup and 30 kms north of the Stirling Range, Kybelup Crossing Camp is located on our farm Kalynda and is found on the banks of the upper reaches of the Pallinup River at the Kybelup Crossing. We are a 90 hectare working farm, surrounded by large boardacre cropping farms. Half the farm is dedicated to cropping and open fields, with the remaining given over to regrowth and natural river bank forest. Go for bush walks on the property, birdwatching, orchid hunting, flat water canoeing in the river (conditions permitting). There is plenty of wildlife to spot, with Kangaroos and Echidnas making the river bank their home and plenty of bird life. Night spotlighting and you may see owls, kangaroos, possums and other marsupials. The Pallinup is a naturally salty river and is not palatable. We are within easy reach of the Stirling Range and the iconic Bluff Knoll. See the mountains from the farm and know what walking conditions will be like. September to October is the peak wild flower season, but there is something flowering all year. Use the farm as a base to explore the Stirling Range and the surrounding farming district of the Gnowangerup Shire. The farm is along the Horse Power Highway where visitors can see a collection of quirky tractors – download the tractor map. Take a day trip through the Stirling Range Drive and to the Porongurups, where you can stop at wineries along the way. Kalynda is a completely off grid property. Located up a private bush track. There is reasonable phone reception for Telstra customers only – enjoy the serenity and go off-line for a weekend. The camp sites are private, within an easy stroll of the river and the house yard. Campers need to be self sufficient (including bringing their own toilet) and leave no trace. Dogs are permitted but need to be restrained. Camp fires are permitted in the open fire season in the designated fire pits. Closest shop and fuel is at Gnowangerup (20kms) with limited opening hours on weekends and public holidays. Kybelup Crossing Camp is open for campers from Easter until mid October. We are closed over the summer and harvest period. Optional extras include: tank water, cut firewood.

Mates and i tent camped at the site and it was beautiful. Host was communicative and helpful. Only heads up is maybe bring a jerrycan of diesel for the generator incase it runs out like ours did. No real towns nearby and had to throw away our refrigerated food, but it’s all part of the experience haha

Only stayed for two nights but was amazing. Friendly staff, INDESCRIBABLE VIEWS, well equipped kitchen with various amenities including fridges and stove tops, astronomical water pressure. Only issue is it can get quite windy because it's literally 5 meters away from the bay, not much the site can do about that.

I'm counting down the days untill we can go back here 10/10. Dean the host is such a good bloke very acomdating and welcoming he made us feel like were at home. We camped at the camp spot near the dam there's only one camp spot down there so it was very private it was so peaceful and beautiful amongst the massive karri trees and rolling grassy paddocks. The birds and wildlife sounds made it felt like we had a relaxing calming sound track on constantly.

What an unforgettable first camping experience. For two days, my wife and I felt as though we were the only people on the planet. Surrounded by Blue Wrens, we moved through four gentle seasons each day and enjoyed nothing short of a transcendent escape into nature. Our host, Dean, is an impressive and genuine chap. He welcomed us warmly, guided us to our campsite, and even lit our fire to get us started. Hearing his motivation for sharing this place was equally comforting—he simply wants others to experience the significance and beauty of the land he so clearly loves and cares for. With Dean’s confident assurance that the Karri Getaway would look after us, he headed back to his home, and for the next two days we had something I don't ever remember having - solitude. Not once in 48 hours did we hear anything but the sounds of pure, peaceful, undisturbed nature. I foraged, chopped and debarked wet wood to make a campfire, baked a damper, set up and packed down camp in the wet one of the “four seasons” that rolled through each day. We lay beneath the stars—along with what I’m convinced was an unusually large number of satellites—and by the time we left, we were already planning a longer return in 2026. Considering the value of this place, the booking fee feels negligible. If you can make it to this spot, you should absolutely experience this place for yourself.

David and Jacqui met us when we had settled in. The grounds are amazing, vines are really lovely to look at and the view of the Stirling Ranges is stunning. Purchasing some of the Riesling is a must too. The lemon tree is plentiful with juicy lemons. Loved our time here.

Amenities were clean and tidy. The info boards were very good. The walk to the Granite Skywalk was unfortunately too much of a challenge for me. I will have to try again

Love the Porongurups, highly recommend Castle Rock and Nancy Peak walks. Carparks and facilities are really well maintained. Plan ahead for lunches and meals, not much open or available.
