Cascades Cottage is named after the beautiful Cascades that have a drop of around 10 meters, at the center of which you can cool down in a natural plunge pool or sit and listen to the water cascade down a 4-meter fall. It is an ideal space on a hot summer day to take a camp chair sit with a glass of wine and rejuvenate in absolute privacy. A stay at Cascades Cottage can be any sort of holiday you like - a romantic getaway, a relaxing and peaceful break, or a fun and action-packed adventure exploring the farm, nearby national parks, the fall, and the rapids which is off the farm about 10 minutes away but a fun and dynamic place where you can swim and explore the natural rock pools that run from the top of a natural stream. Native wildlife make the farm their home. Wallabies, koalas, and platypus can often be seen enjoying the surroundings. Kayak on the dam or spend time on the pier waiting for the platypus to play in the early mornings and late afternoon. A stay at the Cascades will bring you close to nature and give you a wonderful tree change for the duration of your stay. Guests have access to a large freshwater dam and two kayaks are provided for your use (as well as life jackets). Guests can explore the whole property of 220 acres. There are many waterways and rain forest areas as well as fields and paddocks. We are pet friendly. If you like hiking or simply being in nature you will fall in love with this secret, wild and beautiful place. Our little patch is a small hobby Chestnut 🌰 farm. We are offering our quaint, artistic and private cabin for short term stays Minimum stay 2 nights. This is a perfect retreat for someone who is perhaps an artist or writer and wants to get away from city life and immerse themselves in nature. There is a cosy fire with wood supplied The winter days on the mountain are spectacular but the nights can get cold so bring warm clothing. The bird life is plentiful with many rare and amazing species either visiting on their annual journeys or calling it home such as the yellow tailed black cockatoo. Several species of wallabies graze around the cabin in the early mornings or late afternoons. Elands is a quiet village with an eclectic community, a Post Office and General store. Our closest town being Wingham is approximately 40 minutes drive the last 16 klms up the mountain is unsealed. It is suitable for all types of vehicles but can be rough at times. The cabin has mobile phone service for those with Telstra or Aldi SIM cards. We have 3 generations of family living on our property and we are only interested in hosting a single female or couple. We have for many years hosted helpers on our farm but now are offering it as a short term stay (2 nights minimum) We are completely off grid and try to live in a simple manner with solar, tank water and an outdoor composting toilet. We are only just starting to rent our cabin out and so far have no reviews but have many 5 star reviews on other platforms such as HelpX Unfortunately we don’t allow pets as we have our own dogs on the property who have grown up with the surrounding wildlife and pose no threat. Hour and half from Port Macquarie and Forster and one hour from Taree in the hinterland from Wingham or Comboyne (coming from Port Macquarie). The Bulga Plateau is the place to unwind, swim in mountain rivers and enjoy the Old Growth forests (yes we still have a few left) In the hinterland of the Mid North Coast NSW on Biripi Country Balgarr means mountain in local Gattang language. 600 metres above sea level on clear nights it feels like you are close enough to touch the Milky Way! This is rustic living, no flash flush here but a practical long drop eco-friendly compost toilet and a fantastic gas hot water shower out in the elements! You will need to bring your own bedding, pillows sheets etc. we are on tank water and at times it is low! Dogs are welcome but please bring their own bedding. The property is also home to local wildlife and filled with lots of old trees, plants and flowers whilst enjoying your morning cuppa on the balcony. As we are 45 minutes from the closest town, you will need to fuel up before you head up the mountain. Also bring drinking water and all the food you will require for your stay. The Elands general store carries basic groceries, beer wine and spirits. Loads of walking tracks nearby; the Legendary Ellenborough Falls is 5 mins by car or half hour walk through the Elands Village. There is an endless network of gravel roads and fire trails waiting to be explored, taking you through the national parks, state forests and undulating farmlands of the Bulga Plateau. This delightful self contained cabin is a perfect getaway for you to work on your project, (longer stays can be negotiated) be it visual art; a book; a film script; photography or simply forest breathing to clear the mind. Blue Knob (Kaoraoa) at 1014 metres, is one of the highest peaks in the forest with Panoramic Plateau Views of the surrounding country 40 mins by car. I'm retired now and appreciate even more, living in paradise. The usually good amount of rain, the ever warmer summers when we can swim in the Ellenborough River. Yes after 40 years on the Bulga I can feel the changes in the environment. Come and enjoy!

We have two full dams that host our 3 ducks, free range chooks (collect your own fresh eggs daily-not available in winter), 4 guinea fowl a couple of farm cats & awesome birds-Rainbow Lorikeets, King Parrots, Crimson Rosellas and Kookaburras. We also have a couple of swamp hen families. A number of fruit bats from Wingham brush reach us most nights at dusk. We have also seen an owl near the chicken coop & if you're lucky you may spot the kangaroos in the paddock. We welcome tents, campervans, trailer tents and caravans but you need to provide your own drinking water- outside solar shower is available that can be filled up at the rainwater tank by the camp kitchen. NEED TO HAVE YOUR OWN TOILET FACILITIES WITH HOLDING TANK The Paddock suits all vehicles- Max 3 parties at once. We also have more private spot Woodland Area which suits just one party but vehicle access is a couple of mins walk and further to the camp kitchen. Fires allowed but only in contained firepits and off ground. We currently have 3 firepit presently to use at your own site (must be kept off ground on bricks provided). Fires not allowed during total fire bans Take your camping chairs to the edge of 1 of 2 dams and watch our pet ducks. Pets on leashes are welcome. Plenty to see and do around here.
