Rocklee is on Wiradjuri land, a short drive from Capertee, surrounded by Gardens of Stone and Capertee national parks and the Mugii Murrum-ban State Conservation Area. Rocklee is 2.5 hours from Sydney and Dubbo, and a short drive to swimming at Turon and Coorongooba National Parks, sightseeing at Glen Davis, bird watching near Glen Alice and the terrific cafe ‘From the Paddock’. Access is 4wd only. (We’re serious!) Our road has ‘roll overs’, rocks and a couple of tight turns on large gradients so you need a vehicle with 20cm+ clearance. If you are towing a camper trailer, you need a good 4wd engine to get back up the hill confidently. Each campsite is a VERY long way from other sites - usually about 800m. Rocklee has a mix of no-longer used paddocks and about 950 acres of untouched bush. You will arrive through the conservation area, which has beautiful pagodas and endless bushwalks. Rocklee is a good site for star gazing. Hipcampers can choose from plenty of space where they'd like to set up camp. Please be careful as some paddocks are overgrown, fences have come down and there are lots of wombat holes, so drive slowly and be careful. There are no amenities here, campers need to be self contained and leave no trace. This means you need to bring water, use existing fireplaces and take your rubbish, recycling and compost with you. (You need to bring water from home or elsewhere on the way. Please note you cannot fill up free tap water at Capertee - either at the BP, the picnic area or the pub. It just doesn’t rain enough to fill up the tanks. Sorry!)

Brazenhead is a 15 minute drive to the closest shops, 20 minutes into Bathurst, 30 minutes from Sofala and 1 hour from the historic Hill End. There is ample space for groups, with wide open spaces but also plenty of trees for shade. Fires are permitted in the spots provided and according to local fire restrictions. The creek is a good spot to try some gold panning, go exploring and also has some deep swimming holes for you to enjoy. Pitch your tent or pull up your camping vehicle next to our creek! You will have complete privacy, only the kangaroos and other wildlife to share your trip with. There is plenty of space for the kids to run around, kick a ball, play some cricket, or go exploring along the creek during the day. In the evenings everyone can sit and relax in the quiet in front of a campfire. We welcome only self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower. The campsite is 2WD accessible with plenty of room and flat space to camp on. Not far from our property you can find the Bridle Track, which is very well known by 4WD enthusiasts. It was originally built as the first road between Bathurst and Hill End during the gold rush era, and was given its name due to horsemen having to dismount and guide their horses by the bridle through the very narrow sections. If you visit in November you may be here for the annual Marmalade Festival, with good weather, musicians, stalls and of course jams and marmalades! No pets please.

We had such an amazing time at The Nile! Jacob and Mandy were such great hosts. From the moment we arrived we were greeted and helped to select the perfect site for our group's needs, and the hospitality was amazing throughout our whole stay. Our kids had an amazing time discovering all the farm had to offer and meeting all the animals. And the spa was a perfect way to end the day. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Absolutely loved it here. Great location, flat site, river views, easy site access, good water access. The river is pristine and is a wonderful reflection of the landcare of the local community. Kids went spotting after to dark to see fish and yabbies in the river everywhere. You can walk along most of the 1km river bed that borders this property. Our dogs were ecstatic on this trip. Other dog owners just remember to be careful re snakes - we didn’t see any but there would be plenty around. Also multiple active wombat holes close to the sites, and horses that come and visit - will keep your pooches on their toes! There is a local pub up the road that looked great and we will try out when we come back! Vanessa was super-easy to deal with and helpful. Would come back and stay at any of the three sites. Highly recommend.

Absolute amazing! The property has great views and straches quite long, so there are many sections of camping opportunities without having a neighbour next to you. The hosts where also very lovely and made sure we all had a great stay. The facilities are clean and perfect for all needs. Great outlook and easy access to local towns if you need extra supplies. BYO toilet/shower and water. Local wombat came visiting on the first afternoon- very cute! Horses in nearby paddock are great to watch. No fish caught in the river but we gave it a try!
