Welcome to Emu creek Retreat One of the best destinations for hiking, camping, bushwalking, swimming, Kayaking, fishing, mountain bike riding (bicycles only), bird watching, 4wdriving and even fossicking., Dogs, men's best friend, are definitely welcome. But if your dog is not friendly or is likely to venture into someone else camping area, than will have to be on a leash. If travelling in a 2wd please contact us before booking, some of the campgrounds have to be reached by crossing the creeks, Girard camp is one of them where the office and the showers are, at times this crossing is under water and is only accessible by 4wd. Other campgrounds are available near the entry gate that don't require a creek crossing for access and toilets are available on some of them. One side of the property is bound by Emu Creek and the other by Girard Creek, both creeks have enough water with some permanent deep water holes for all year activities. Sightseeing inside the property we have Girard Falls, a 50m high waterfall, nature at it's best. In the vicinity you have the Clarence river at Paddy's Flat Road and Hootons Road within minutes drive from the property. The only entry into the property is by Emu Creek Rd a gravel road. Emu Creek Retreat is located in the far north-east of New South Wales. We are approximately 200 km from Brisbane, Toowoomba and Gold Coast, 150km from Byron Bay. Tabulam is the nearest town 12km away. Fuel and groceries are available at Tabulam along with a post office, pub and police station. Casino is 68km away and Tenterfield 78km. Once a working cattle property, in 1993 was converted into a camping and 4WD park. Since 2017 has been a family own and operated property, pet friendly, we are using the existing large camping grounds to convert it into a camping paradise. Two properties combined with close to 2800 acres, fronting Paddy’s Flat Rd for 2km and extends 7km to the back fence bordering a 22000 acre cattle property. The front section is undulating with plantation forest (spotted gum) and bushland, towards the back it has mountains, steep terrain and millions of trees with spectacular views and great hiking tracks.

Our favourite part of living at Soulhaven is the daily orchestra of birds! Although you will feel like you’re completely secluded from busy town-life, we are only 15 minutes from the nearest shops. Enjoy a toasty campfire in the evenings where you can sit back and gaze at the stars. There are trail bikes tracks nearby and the iconic Border Ranges is just past Kyogle. This campsite is 2WD friendly and caravans are welcome. You may need to level your caravan for a good night's rest. Your pet, on a lead, is welcome to camp with you. We love animals, but one of the reasons we left suburbia was to get away from barking dogs. If your dog barks at night, or is not we’ll socialised, you’re best to leave pooch at home! Our place is family friendly and we ask that you keep music and noise to a minimum after 10pm.

Recycling bins are provided, otherwise campers are required to take their rubbish with them. Wi-Fi and Telstra coverage are available. Rainforest Gateway is located approximately 8klms along Grady's Creek Road, just 20 klms north of Kyogle and 15 klms from the Queensland border on the popular scenic tourist route, Lions Road. Kyogle is a bustling town with an IGA supermarket, MTB riding tracks, lovely gift shops, cinema, bowling alley, and a selection of dining outlets. For those wanting to immerse themselves in nature, the Border Ranges National Park is a short drive away. Lions Road repairs have been completed, however is classed as not suitable for large vans. Tucked away in a tranquil, secluded valley, this hidden gem is surrounded by Long Creek to the south and Findon Creek to the west, while the northern edge extends to the Dedicated Wilderness of the Border Ranges National Park. This much-loved family-owned farm has a rich history, transitioning from a dairy farm to a beef property. Today, it flourishes with a bio-diverse planting of native trees and a joinery workshop crafting designer furniture. Cabin at Valley's End is our flagship accommodation at Figtree Farm. Having 3-bedrooms and 3 bathrooms it is an ideal place for a relaxing weekend. The cabin has flat ground on 2 sides which allows for additional campers (up to 20 people). In wet weather, 2WD and AWD may need to park a short distance downhill from the cabin. In addition we offer 3 creek-side camp sites which have plenty of room for large groups; they are all situated on well drained, grassy open spaces beside the creek. In wet conditions you will need a 4WD to access these sites. Also in wet conditions they are not suitable for large caravans (in excess of 21 feet) unless you have some serious towing power (Landrover or RAM, for example). Figtree Farm has an abundance of bird and animal life. Here, tranquillity reigns, save for the occasional call of our friendly neighbourhood donkeys and the odd rooster. If you wish to wander further afield, Wiangaree is 15 minutes away and Kyogle is a 30 minute drive south. For those who enjoy a game of tennis there is an all weather tennis court (with lights) nearby at Bundgeam Hall. Figtree Farm at Findon Creek promises opportunities for contemplation, relaxation and fun and it is our wish that you will have many happy memories of your visit here.

Weekend Trip to The Jewel of Caniaba

We spent the whole weekend at Aliki’s place. It was awesome. Quiet all the time. Sorrounded by native birds. The hot tub was pleasant. Aliki left coffee capsules for us. We took the hike down to the creek and was so nice. At night we light up the fire pit which was really comfy. We definitely recommend the place if you want to have a quiet weekend as a couple.

This place is paradise! Amazing spot surrounded by a creek, cows and beautiful land. We had the best time and were so grateful to Peter and Tania for accommodating us so last minute, as we booked the wrong weekend by accident! Amenities were so great, they had everything you need! Couldn’t recommend enough!!

We really enjoyed our stay in the Luxury Glamping tent at Ballina Beach Nature Resort. 🤎⛺️🐾 The tent was spacious, comfortable and such a nice change from our usual camping setup. We loved the four-poster bed, having our own bathroom and kitchen facilities, and being able to relax with the dogs nearby. It was peaceful, dog-friendly and a lovely spot to slow down. We especially enjoyed sitting outside, having a campfire and being close to the beach. Everything was easy from check-in through to our stay, and we’d happily stay again. A beautiful little glamping option if you still want that outdoor feel with a few extra comforts. 🐾🤎

Weekend Trip to Clarence River Wilderness Lodge

The cabin is rustic and full of gorgeous character. We loved the wood fire in August and appreciated an inside toilet for night time needs. The fridge was larger than expected but no freezer. Our family enjoyed gathering on the generous undercover deck for drinks and meals but the fire pit was the favourite. Composting toilets took some getting used to because different systems with different instructions are used in each toilet. We loved being so close to nature and the Clarence River. Canoeing was a hit with 4 year old and 34 year old! We had lovely sunny weather but were still grateful for the 4 wheel drive when managing the road in and out. Lovely caring and helpful hosts.

We loved our stay at Barachi cabin. Driving into the property you easily start to switch off. Beautiful quiet spot with a lovely creek running through. Our dog loved exploring too. Enjoyed a nice hot outdoor shower in the morning sun. Laying in the hammock reading a book and a toasty outdoor fire under the stars. Lovely spot for a night only wish we could’ve stayed longer. Weekend Trip to The Jewel of Caniaba

We loved our stay at Aliki’s beautiful accommodation. Thank you for sharing such a peaceful and beautiful space. It is so clean & fresh. Everything has been provided for comfort. We enjoyed unwinding with serene landscape views, the luxury of the soothing outdoor hot tub and the calming sound of nature was truly wonderful. We can’t wait to visit again, we feel very relaxed and spoilt after our stay.

The place was honestly breathtaking. The view from the spa was amazing, and the assistance provided by Aliki was responsive and made things so easy. I would highly recommend this place, and even when we left our things behind mistakenly, Aliki offered, without being asked, to send them back which further demonstrates her commitment to providing a great experience.
