Ruby Rest is a working horse stud and farm supply store. We are technically in NSW with our boundary fence being the QLD border. The property is located just 5 mins from the town of Stanthorpe known for its chilly temperatures, apple orchards and wineries. We are a family owned and run operation and are happy to share our little piece of granite belt beauty with happy campers. There is one toilet and two showers so patience and consideration is required, especially on busy weekends.

Ruby Rest is a working horse stud and on farm rural supply store. We are technically in NSW with our boundary fence being the QLD border. We are just a 5 minute drive from the town of Stanthorpe known for its chilly temperatures, apple orchards and wineries. We are a family owned and run operation and are happy to share our little piece of granite belt beauty with happy campers. We have two types of sites. Sites with amenities for those that like their comforts and completely self sufficient sites without amenities for the wild ones. Booking prices reflect this. There are several different sites to choose from depending on what suits your needs. Whether you want to be nestled into a granite boulder rise or down by the waters edge, you take your pick. During the winter months the undulating ground gives some protection from the icy breeze and there are plenty of shade trees for the summertime. All sites overlook the gully of dams and wetlands gently flowing into each other and alive with Birdlife. Please be aware that we are in a rural and farming area. Occassionly late at night or early morning the smell of pig farming from a neighbouring property may waft in. Apologies if you are unlucky enough to experience this but don't worry it disappears as quickly as it arrives. There are risks associated with camping, these can include wildlife encounters with snakes/spiders and other biting insects. Dingoes are present so pets and children must be kept in your sight at all times and water can be deadly, so children must be accompanied by an adult at all times when outdoors. Wedge-tailed eagles and hawks patrol the skies and little dogs that look like bunnies are not off the menu for them. Be vigilant and do not feed the dingoes. If you are approached by them do not run. Calmly make some noise, clap your hands or pick up a stick to wave at them and get to the safety of your site. Please contact me if you have an encounter and I will do my best to vacate them.

Great spot! Arrival was easy. Good communication prior to arriving by host. Drive in past the gate, find a spot, plenty of space to choose from. The landscapes, the scenery were spectacular, if you’re a lover of nature and peace. Amenities were cute, clean,had character, horses we’re beautiful to watch, some friendly ones who decided to pay our camp a visit 😂 only thing to note like a few other reviews said about the wind cause the spaces are quite open you might want to consider which direction you face your camp, but all in all had a great time out there.

What an amazing setting. By far the most spacious with the most amount of spots to choose from. The horses coming over at sunset was magical. The amenities were spotless and ideal. What a trip!

Great little spot for a quick layover!! We liked that you were camping in the same field as the horses, they were all friendly & came up to our camp a handful of times. The kids enjoyed patting them, as did we. Nice hot shower and a flushing toilet! Thank you

Definitely recommend! I loved it here it was so beautiful and peaceful while still being close to town. The horses were so friendly coming and saying hi in the morning. Will definitely stay here again.

A great spot for big setups or small. There were multiple spots to choose for our large caravan. Depending on if you wanted a bit of shelter or open space and views. The kids moved sharing the paddock with the horses and the location was perfect for exploring the wineries, National Parks, and other too dos.

Amazing stay at Ruby Rest! We were a group of 4 adults tent camping on a very busy weekend during Winter school holidays. Had one other group staying as well but there was so much space that we didnt see or hear them. There are sites under some trees if you want more shade and theres sites completely in the open if you have a larger group. Great views, small dams at the bottom you can camp around. Showers were hot (and got hot quickly considering it was a very cold morning!) and easily accessible. We shared the paddock with a few cows (who had 2 adorable calves between them) and a small herd of horses, which let us get close enough to pat. They left our camping area alone though and the paddock was huge so there weren't any early morning farm noise interruptions (for those who might like a sleep in). Plenty of flat enough spaces for camping too. Very frequent, long time visitors to the granite belt area, first time at Ruby Rest, will definitely be coming back.

Really enjoyed camping at Ruby Rest for 3 nights. It’s a beautiful spot, overlooking a lake, and with stunning night skies. The facilities are great (flushing toilet and hot showers). Only a 5 min drive into Stanthorpe, but felt rural and peaceful. One night we had quite a lot of wind so make sure you come prepared for any weather. Would definitely recommend staying here to others. Thanks for having us!

Such a great camp site. Very close to town, with also feeling far away from it. The farm itself is beautiful, mostly flat land which makes it easy to camp on. Lots great views and the animals (horses) rome around while you camp. Very peaceful and definitely want to come back and camp here.

We loved camping on this spread out property. A real escape into the quiet. The night sky out here is incredible and the size of the grounds make it feel quite private. The amenities as well were very clean and an added bonus.

Great experience being on beautiful land with so many animals up close ang good amenities (toilet and shower looked after daily). Only thing I'd say is prepared for windy conditions on the exposed fields.
