What an absolutely awesome place, I went with just myself and my little dog but I could see how this site would be incredible for a family with children. The host has a heap of games/equipment out for guests to enjoy, like camp games, fishing rods, hammocks, balls, chairs, even a huge stack of firewood. I highly recommend this place. I will be a regular here. I try to camp a couple of nights every 2-3 weeks and this spot I think has almost taken my no1 haha If you love camping with privacy, this is the place to be. There, only a cow haha You have a beautiful grassy open area or a Forresty area right on the creek, so it’s a bit of everything scenery wise. It was exactly what I needed. The hosts directions were detailed and easy to follow, and he had really gone out of their way to make this a great spot for guests to enjoy. Even providing marshmallows for the fire, first aid kits and so much more. 10/10. Thanks to the host for opening up his property for others to enjoy,

Wonderful spot by a creek. Host has thoughtfully provided a lot of extras you don't see much, a table, outdoor setting, utility box with essentials and sports equipment. Loved that it was dog friendly and private.

Enjoyed our overnight stay at the platypus bend. The site was tidy, signs up to not camp under certain trees for safety and was pleased to see bins and bin bags! Most hipcamps do not include these (which is fine by us) but is always nice to see. The hosts have thoughtfully prepared an emergency kit (water, toilet paper, torch, matches, first aid kit and other items), an info kit (local magazine, site rules and FAQ’s, nature scavenger hunt, card games, marshmallows for roasting) along with plenty of cut wood. We enjoyed the sporting equipment they had to use.

Great trip.
It’s all the little extras Dane supplies in case you forget something. Plenty of firewood and having the whole site to yourself is great. Also great if you have dogs fully fenced area.
2nd time here and will definitely be back.

I loved this site! They have games there to play, a great fire pit and it’s a massive spot all to ourselves. They had complimentary firewood, an axe to chop it to size, even a first aide kit. So much attention to detail and we loved our stay. Thank you!

Second time at Platypus Bend and I had forgotten how lovely this place is. Had a fantastic weekend! Spotted lots of wildlife including platypus, deer, flying fox and a wombat as well as the myriad of birds that visit the trees and site each day. Added bonus of the gorgeous Lilli pillies in full fruit around the creek. The site was immaculate and all the extra touches were appreciated greatly. Thanks again Dane. I will be back again and won’t leave it a year next time!

Perfect campsite by the river. So much firewood and extra activities (balls, swings, cricket) at the camp. Camp was flat and well mowed, hosts also left out books and notes for campers information. 10/10 stay will definitely be back

The only bad thing about this campsite is having to go home. Has everything. When Dane says firewood supplied it is. We had a fire going for the entire time we were there and never ran out. Great if you have dogs and also kids.
We booked another weekend there on the first night we were there. There are also little things that are on site for people to use free of charge. Great site especially having all to yourself and all fenced off.

I found the property very peaceful and relaxing, and despite the initial heavy rainfall and wind, managed to sit by the fire using wood and kindling provided. My dog also loved tearing about the place, chasing balls and jumping in and out of the creek. Thank you Dane.

Paradise only 1hr away from Sydney

Dane is a great host, he was welcoming and had lots of firewood stocked up ready for us. The area itself is like paradise. Surrounded by nature, with beautiful birds and a beautiful setting. I lok forward to booking again in a few weeks.

A perfect quiet spot. We really appreciated the plentiful supply of firewood for our 2 cold wintery nights. Our dog loved being able to roam around. The camping supplies were a pleasant surprise.

Great directions, easy access for 2wd, fenced off for off leash dogs. Can’t wait to come back in warmer months to try the canoe on the river.

Awesome place. Private setting very quiet, lots of activities supplied by host plus emergency kit. Firewood supplied. The best Hipcamp I have been to dogs loved it, right on edge of the creek. I can’t wait to go back in warmer months to use the canoe. Great hosts, easy access with great directions.

We spent a great overnight stay at Danes place and felt like we were a million miles away from the rest of the world. Being winter all the fire wood was stacked up right near the fire area and we made good use of it. Will definitely be going back in summer to enjoy the creek and beautiful area under the trees.

Such an amazing spot. Total privacy with a beautiful outlook. Dane is the perfect host and has really put some thought and effort into setting up this great site.
Everything you could ask for is catered for. Dane even has a supply of firewood at the site.
The bush furniture is a very cool festive as well.
This was our second visit and will definitely be regulars at platypus bend.
I even caught a glimpse of a platypus on our first stay.

We had a lovely few days in a beautiful slice of the central coast hinterland. Platypus Bend is highly recommended.
Following a lovely drive through the Yaramalong Valley we arrived at Platypus end and were greeted by Dane. He directed us to cross the paddock to the camping area next to the creek, a really nice spot. Easy level spot for our ute and small van to set up next to.
Dane thoughtfully provided firewood and had a fire ready for us, making for a great evening cooking and eating by the fire. The sitting logs around the fireplace, the tables and chairs made for an enjoyable stay. Also provided were sports equipment and board games if you or your family needed something to do. We enjoyed the serenity, the bush and a glass of wine.
Thank you Dane for sharing your wonderful place and the care you have taken to provide a great escape. Highly recommend Platypus Bend, I know we will be back.
