Primitive camping
Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Our property is nestled between state forests and nature reserves, near the village of Nymboida which is approx. 44km southwest of Grafton. You will find a variety of bird life and by night our marsupials. Bandicoots, possums and if you have a keen eye, owls. With 1.5km of creek frontage, you can explore away, fish in the waterhole for freshwater catfish or go for a walk along one of the valleys. Situated on 650 acres in hill country. You will certainly find something for your relaxing getaway. Pitch your tent in a variety of places, we have two areas available that offer complete privacy from other campers. Mill Flat (the location of the steam mill that was built when the property was a logging property) is located on around 3 acres of mostly flat grass land with direct access to our creek. Nearby, Fruit Orchard Hill is the location of the original home before the fires, the outlook from here is of the sheer mountain range of the neighbouring National Park. This camping area is elevated. Our third site is not so private but is the most central and conveniently located for exploring the creek and gaining access with big campervans.  If staying longer you can go for a white water kayak in the Nymboida River only 15 min away or head the other way to discover endless National Parks that stretch from the property to Dorrigo. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower and water. You must have your own amenities. Well behaved dogs are most welcome to join you. Although we are pet friendly, please be aware and courteous to other campers. If your pet needs to be tied up please do so. We recommend 4WDs to access the campsite. Some places can be accessed by 2WD and walk to campsite. Caravan drivers need to be competent for hilly terrain and tight access, some roads are cut into steep ground and have very little give. However Site 1 is easy access for caravans. If unsure about your vehicle please message us.

Site 1 - Creek Bend
Okay stay
Overall it was okay. The owner can't help the cicadas (they were horrible). Denise was lovely, gave us some great options for sight seeing which gave us an out to get away from the ear piercing noise. The water hole (cascade) was beautiful and a great way to finish the day off with a swim. Privacy was good, you couldn't see or here any other campers. We did find the hipcamp site a bit deceiving, one it says it was at Nana Glen. We were no where near Nana Glen, closer to Grafton. We also believed we would be able to see the creek from our camp-site, this was not the case. However as mentioned the cascade water hole was a 3 minute walk so that kind of made up for it. The camp-site itself was a little disappointing in regards to rubbish laying around, old metals door, tyres, lots of rope in the grass to trip on. Glad we didn't have younger kids.

Amazing spot and Denis is a great host. The swimming holes with crystal clear water are the perfect way to start and finish the day. We will be back! Thank you 🙏

Site 2 - Fruit Tree Hill
Sanctuary in the hills
An excellent campsite nestled away from the world. We stayed at fruit tree hill which was behind all the other campers and we could not hear or see anyone around. Dennis and his family were very accomodating and friendly. The water hole was sensational! We spent almost every day there relaxing and floating away in the clear water. Campsite - plants were lush and green, clear river flowing alongside it and it was a great place for a wash before bed. One downside is that it is situated on a slope, no issues for us with tents but can be hard to set up RTT and campers. Access - PIN code required to access, ensure that you get this from Denis beforehand. Steep but solid ground. It is drivable in a 2wd but recommend clearance. Our friend driver her Mazda 2 up the hill in the wet without issues but had to rev high.

Creekside Oasis
A nice property with a beautiful running creek and a short walk to the swimming holes. Dennis and his wife were very accommodating with directions and Easter gifts for us. Unfortunately Dennis had been away prior to us arriving and the camping areas were a little overgrown and a couple of big dead trees kept us from camping in the designated area. Hopefully when we return we can camp down closer to the creek.

Creekside Oasis
Absolute cracker of a spot. Possibly the best Hipcamp spot we’ve stayed in and definitely the best host!
