This is an environmental project which is endeavouring to create a green corridor from Augusta to the Nullarbor to allow the fauna to travel freely when migrating. Featuring 400 acres of revegetated bushland and 100 acres of remnant bush along a winter creek. It's a great place for bird watchers. We have wild flowers all year round but the spring months bring an abundance of Orchids and wild flowers. Bush lovers will be inspired with plenty of wildlife about. You can have a camp fire in winter although you will need to bring some firewood, there's plenty of kindling, or you can purchase a bundle from us if you wish. The campsites are level and grassy and suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply. We are about an hour drive north of Albany and 300 kilometres south of Perth. The property is pretty close to the Stirling Range National Park, Porongurup National park, Frankland wine district and lake Poorrarecup. Wongin Mia makes an excellent base for exploring this picturesque area. Birdlife is plentiful including parrots, wedge tail eagles, red breasted wrens, Carnaby's and Boudin's, Night jars, Willy wagtails, Barking owls and Welcome swallows. And of course there's plenty of kangaroos and wallabies. This is a unique property where you will experience a true bush environment with seclusion and tranquillity. The Rockcliffe vineyard was originally an apple orchard. In 1990, the first vines were planted, and in 2007 we built a "State of the Art winery", which is located on the property. Rockcliffe is now the biggest winery in the region. We sell wines all over the world and in Australia. We focus on producing small batches of high-quality wines, all of which can be tasted at the Rockcliffe Cellar Door. We welcome self-contained travelers to come and stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights maximum. On booking your site, you will be amongst the vines on one of our levelled bays which are allocated on a first come basis. It is important you have your own toilet, as we do not offer facilities here outside of our cellar door hours. Overflow camping is also available in the paddock across from the winery, suitable over summer when it is dry and we are running our summer music events over the weekend. Our Land is 70 acres of mostly native bush with large Karri trees surrounding the beautiful views of the Irwin Inlet. The area cleared is where the original Benson Family lived. The house was burnt down and they then left. We moved up here 40 plus years ago and have slowly cleared the area. We are only 7 kms to the wonderful Peaceful Bay where all amount of activities can be taken. Safe swimming, fishing, surfing and boating. The famous Tree Top Walk is approximately 20 kms away, with the local Bow Bridge Roadhouse 5 mins away.Also located at Peaceful Bay are the famous local fresh fish and chips. We are situated approximately half way between Walpole and Denmark. All of our sites have views of the Irwin Inlet. As we use dam water for watering our garden we do have open dams near by. Just wanted all guests to be aware of this. Guests must be fully self contained with their own toilet/shower facilities and must take all waste with them on departure. Pets are allowed on leash. Therefore, the site looks different to some of the previous photos showing open paddocks. Welcome to Rocky's Retreat! Our little hobby farm is 28 acres with views to the Porongurup Mountain Range. Tucked away in quiet Takalarup, we are surrounded by nature, in particular - amazing bird life! Kangaroos are often seen jumping through the paddocks on dusk. The sunsets from the campsite over the Porongurup Ranges are a great way to finish each day at Rocky's Retreat. Meet our friendly resident sheep - pellets available to feed them, and they love pats! We only accept one booking at a time to allow our guests privacy and plenty of space. Well-behaved, socialised, on-lead pets are welcome too. We are located approx. 40km from Mt Barker, 50km from Albany, 15km to Porongurup National Park and 45km to Stirling Range National Park. Within a short drive you can find incredible local wineries, cafes and restaurants. The property makes a great base camp for day trips to Denmark, Albany, Mt Barker, Stirling Ranges and the Porongurup Ranges. If you are wanting to cool off at the campsite, a swimming spot on the upper Kalgan River is 800 metres down the road. Please note - we have recently undertaken significant native revegetation around the camp site, planting approx. 6,000 native seedlings for native flora and fauna habitat. Therefore, the site looks different to some of the previous photos showing open paddocks. Please refer to the photo in our listing taken in Summer that shows the native revegatation with tree guards around each seedling. Campers must be self-contained, with their own in-built camp toilet, and leave no trace. Dump points are available in Mt Barker and Albany. Telstra works in most areas. We don't take bookings for tents/swags by themselves at this stage. We look forward to welcoming you to stay at Rocky's Retreat. Weekend Trip to Stunning Rockcliffe Vineyard

Idyllic spot, with the Motor home parked up alongside the grape vines and views down into the forest where the sheep graze. As if that is not enough, Steve and his team are charming, knowledgeable and welcoming. The wines are delicious and we couldn’t resist sending some back to Melbourne for summer drinking. To top it all off, the smooth and silky Gelato sold in the tasting room is made by the proprietor, who went to Italy to learn the skill. Wonderful stay and we hope to be back one day.

Mates and i tent camped at the site and it was beautiful. Host was communicative and helpful. Only heads up is maybe bring a jerrycan of diesel for the generator incase it runs out like ours did. No real towns nearby and had to throw away our refrigerated food, but it’s all part of the experience haha

I'm counting down the days untill we can go back here 10/10. Dean the host is such a good bloke very acomdating and welcoming he made us feel like were at home. We camped at the camp spot near the dam there's only one camp spot down there so it was very private it was so peaceful and beautiful amongst the massive karri trees and rolling grassy paddocks. The birds and wildlife sounds made it felt like we had a relaxing calming sound track on constantly.

What an unforgettable first camping experience. For two days, my wife and I felt as though we were the only people on the planet. Surrounded by Blue Wrens, we moved through four gentle seasons each day and enjoyed nothing short of a transcendent escape into nature. Our host, Dean, is an impressive and genuine chap. He welcomed us warmly, guided us to our campsite, and even lit our fire to get us started. Hearing his motivation for sharing this place was equally comforting—he simply wants others to experience the significance and beauty of the land he so clearly loves and cares for. With Dean’s confident assurance that the Karri Getaway would look after us, he headed back to his home, and for the next two days we had something I don't ever remember having - solitude. Not once in 48 hours did we hear anything but the sounds of pure, peaceful, undisturbed nature. I foraged, chopped and debarked wet wood to make a campfire, baked a damper, set up and packed down camp in the wet one of the “four seasons” that rolled through each day. We lay beneath the stars—along with what I’m convinced was an unusually large number of satellites—and by the time we left, we were already planning a longer return in 2026. Considering the value of this place, the booking fee feels negligible. If you can make it to this spot, you should absolutely experience this place for yourself.

We got a LOT of rain, and even so, the camping spot manages well, no mud, no pools, just endless green grass and wonderfull views. We will be back.

In the summer, the ground is golden, and the vines are lush green and producing fruit.

David and Jacqui met us when we had settled in. The grounds are amazing, vines are really lovely to look at and the view of the Stirling Ranges is stunning. Purchasing some of the Riesling is a must too. The lemon tree is plentiful with juicy lemons. Loved our time here.

Loved this place so much! Staying on a vineyard and only steps to the cellar door made this an enjoyable experience. I'm a solo female travelling in a caravan and managed to reverse into the space on my own. Not sure what some of the past (males) are whinging about 🤣 just take it nice and slow! Special mention to Sue at the cellar door for keeping me entertained.

Great views over the paddocks, sites are not too close together. We had a yummy pizza and bottle of wine at the cellar door. I love that you’re dog friendly, staff at the winery very friendly and nice places to bush walk close by.
