We all loved camping at Karri Getaway. The location was beautiful and secluded, it was super convenient to get into Denmark or any of the beaches surrounding, and Dean was an excellent host. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone considering a trip in the area

This is the best Hipcamp has to offer.
We stayed at the bottom of the hill in a small clearing on Dean’s property and it was one of the best camping experiences we’ve had on Hipcamp. It feels more like a national park than a working property. You feel like you’re in nature. Enclosed by trees on all sides with incredible bird life and the noise of the frogs in the small dam, and we even saw roos in the early morning and late evening. There’s trails on the property for easy access to nature walks, which wind you through some very old and tall trees. It’s a private area with a generous amount of space: there’s only one campground, so perfect for escaping generators if you prefer the quiet and not feeling like you’re crammed in together with other campers. Dean is also a perfect host: he greeted us, guided us to the campground, wanted us to have the best experience and offered to help us if we got bogged in our 2WD going down the hill, and also chopped us wood and got the fire going for us. He’s also got a friendly and beautiful dog! The spot is a great based if you’re exploring all that Denmark/Albany and Walpole has to offer. Can’t rate it highly enough, had a wonderful experience and grateful to Dean for having us on his property.

We stayed (2x families with 4x children between us and 1x dog) at Karri Getaway for 5 nights in late July. Due to the recent weather we set up the 2x vans on the hill site and it was marvellous. The view was outstanding and having the fire pit and long drop toilet made it extremely convenient. The view from the hill is breathtaking. The kids had heaps of places to explore, dig and play and we were able to explore some of the walk paths in the forest. Having the site to ourself was an absolute highlight. The tyre swing was a big big with kids of all ages.
Dean was a great host and had the fire going for us when we arrived. He was helpful and checked in throughout our stay. The property was peaceful but not too remote which was handy for daily outings and visiting local wineries and beaches in the region.
Would absolutely stay again (maybe this time when the wind wasn’t arctic and the water was warmer).

We had a wonderful three-night stay at this private farm campsite in Denmark, WA. The setting was absolutely stunning — scenic, peaceful, and surrounded by nature, with incredible views that made every moment feel special. It was the perfect spot to unwind and disconnect with my partner and toddler. The campsite was spacious and very private, which made it feel like our own little slice of paradise. Super quiet, with just the sounds of birds and the breeze. We couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing and beautiful place to stay.

Dean has a beautiful piece of land. Lovely spot on the hill overlooking the karri trees. Dean is very flexible and accomodating with booking and although not there at the time made sure we were looked after by his lovely cousin and friend. As it was our first Hipcamp experience we were very pleased. Would definitely stay again! Have to say the highlight would have to be our little visitor who chilled with us and even popped back on the last morning to say goodbye. Would love to know his name!

Karri Getaway provides three campsites surrounded by majestic tall karri forest and indigenous undergrowth. The karri forest is set amongst the larger, undulating property with some cleared land for cattle. The top site has very easy access with views across to the delightful cottage and valleys. It is adjacent to the karri forest fence line. The bottom site is close to a dam / lake that is being reconstructed. The planned design will provide good habitat but also a swimming option once nature restores an equilibrium. The bottom camp has a useful cleared area but is surrounded by forest. The track to the bottom camp would require good clearance but an off road van could nagivate the track assuming traction doesnt become an issue in the middle of winter. There is also an option to camp amongst the forest if you have a campertrailer. Access would be a bit tight for a caravan.
We enjoyed the carefully planned, walking trail that weaves its way through the karri forest and is about 1.2kms in total.
The forest really is awesome. Small birds and the lushness of the undergrowth provides a cool, peaceful and private environment.
15 mins access to beaches and Denmark add to the location.
Dean was extremely helpful and genuinely wants people to enjoy the forest. His commitment to the preservation of the forest is commendable. We even mucked up our booking and arrived early unannounced, which didnt phase Dean at all. Many thanks for a great stay. Kind regards Mike and Trish.

What an awesome spot! We stayed for two weeks, and absolutely loved the peace and tranquility of the bottom bush site. We managed to get our semi-off road 24 foot van down to the bottom site, and it was so worth it.
Dean was super friendly and accommodating - we would stay again for sure. Highly recommend

Amazing piece of land, we felt privileged to be there for 3 nights. The wildlife, stunning vista and serene privacy, combined with the grassy soft campsite with seasonal fire pit. (BYO) make for an amazing experience. Not caravan friendly though probably camper trailer with 4wd would be fine. Need own water and amenities.

Karri Getaway in Denmark is really something special. The Karri forest is beautiful and tranquil and it is set up so that campers feel they have the whole place to themselves. Dean is the perfect host- from showing us around the property and making sure we always had enough firewood to keep us warm, to offering to show us around the many walking trails through the forest with his Australian sheperd Sara and hearing a little of the history of the land (and even a bush side poetry recital!) The drive in and out of the forest campsite was a bit of a challenge in our 2WD with the recent rain however Dean was very helpful with tips and we managed it without any problems.
