Our property is a carbon farm which is a part of the Gondwana Link project. This is an environmental project which is endeavouring to create a green corridor from Augusta to the Nullarbor to allow the fauna to travel freely when migrating. Featuring 400 acres of revegetated bushland and 100 acres of remnant bush along a winter creek. It's a great place for bird watchers. We have wild flowers all year round but the spring months bring an abundance of Orchids and wild flowers. Bush lovers will be inspired with plenty of wildlife about.
You can have a camp fire in winter although you will need to bring some firewood, there's plenty of kindling, or you can purchase a bundle from us if you wish.
The campsites are level and grassy and suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping toilet/shower, and drinking water supply.
We are about an hour drive north of Albany and 300 kilometres south of Perth. The property is pretty close to the Stirling Range National Park, Porongurup National park, Frankland wine district and lake Poorrarecup. Wongin Mia makes an excellent base for exploring this picturesque area.
Birdlife is plentiful including parrots, wedge tail eagles, red breasted wrens, Carnaby's and Boudin's, Night jars, Willy wagtails, Barking owls and Welcome swallows. And of course there's plenty of kangaroos and wallabies.
This is a unique property where you will experience a true bush environment with seclusion and tranquillity. There are many places to walk or ride and explore. We feel honoured to be able to share this beautiful peace of paradise.
Your dog is very welcome to camp with you.

*This property has 70 acres of lush Karri forest with the original old logging trails from approximately 100 years ago, which make for beautiful nature walks.
The track through the forest to the main campsite is about 3.5m wide, it can get a little slippery so caution is needed, a 4WD is recommended if towing a camper or caravan during the winter months. 2WD is ok in summer months.
There is one transportable long drop toilet near site 1.
There is a fire pit for cooking but other from that you have to be self sufficient.
There is access to drinking water up at the house.
If the campsite is unavailable or you don't won't to drive through the forest, you are welcome to set up camp on the green pastures with great views but there are NO amenities there and you would have to be completely self-contained.
We are approximately a 10 minute drive from the beautiful Greens pool and Elephant Rocks beach, and about 15 minutes' drive to the town of
Denmark, WA.

Lovely location, less than a 10 min drive to the nearest beach. This camp spot is tucked away on a quiet block, with ocean glimpses.
We woke to the sound Kookaburras & enjoyed watching the Willy Wagtails hop amongst the natural bush.
The block has a generous amount of shade & privacy, making it perfect fir a weekend break.

Try not to miss this opportunity to stay amongst the giant Karri trees on Deans beautiful property. And the trails there will take you into a rich immersion with nature Gleaning at its best There is also a lovely big dam for swimming at the camp that has spectacular views . Dean is more than helpful and provides excellent helpful advice .

I'm counting down the days untill we can go back here 10/10. Dean the host is such a good bloke very acomdating and welcoming he made us feel like were at home. We camped at the camp spot near the dam there's only one camp spot down there so it was very private it was so peaceful and beautiful amongst the massive karri trees and rolling grassy paddocks. The birds and wildlife sounds made it felt like we had a relaxing calming sound track on constantly.

What an unforgettable first camping experience. For two days, my wife and I felt as though we were the only people on the planet. Surrounded by Blue Wrens, we moved through four gentle seasons each day and enjoyed nothing short of a transcendent escape into nature.
Our host, Dean, is an impressive and genuine chap. He welcomed us warmly, guided us to our campsite, and even lit our fire to get us started. Hearing his motivation for sharing this place was equally comforting—he simply wants others to experience the significance and beauty of the land he so clearly loves and cares for.
With Dean’s confident assurance that the Karri Getaway would look after us, he headed back to his home, and for the next two days we had something I don't ever remember having - solitude. Not once in 48 hours did we hear anything but the sounds of pure, peaceful, undisturbed nature.
I foraged, chopped and debarked wet wood to make a campfire, baked a damper, set up and packed down camp in the wet one of the “four seasons” that rolled through each day. We lay beneath the stars—along with what I’m convinced was an unusually large number of satellites—and by the time we left, we were already planning a longer return in 2026.
Considering the value of this place, the booking fee feels negligible. If you can make it to this spot, you should absolutely experience this place for yourself.

We all loved camping at Karri Getaway. The location was beautiful and secluded, it was super convenient to get into Denmark or any of the beaches surrounding, and Dean was an excellent host. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone considering a trip in the area

Great spot especially for a weekend Bluff Knoll hike. Its only 3 - 3.5 hrs drive from Perth, which is much more palatable after work on a Friday, instead of getting all the way to Bluff Knoll. You then have a cruisy 45-50 min drive to get to Bluff Knoll itself the next day which feels easy. Being close to Cranbrook for toilets is handy too, so I wouldn't be afraid of camping here without a portable toilet.

This is the best Hipcamp has to offer.
We stayed at the bottom of the hill in a small clearing on Dean’s property and it was one of the best camping experiences we’ve had on Hipcamp. It feels more like a national park than a working property. You feel like you’re in nature. Enclosed by trees on all sides with incredible bird life and the noise of the frogs in the small dam, and we even saw roos in the early morning and late evening. There’s trails on the property for easy access to nature walks, which wind you through some very old and tall trees. It’s a private area with a generous amount of space: there’s only one campground, so perfect for escaping generators if you prefer the quiet and not feeling like you’re crammed in together with other campers. Dean is also a perfect host: he greeted us, guided us to the campground, wanted us to have the best experience and offered to help us if we got bogged in our 2WD going down the hill, and also chopped us wood and got the fire going for us. He’s also got a friendly and beautiful dog! The spot is a great based if you’re exploring all that Denmark/Albany and Walpole has to offer. Can’t rate it highly enough, had a wonderful experience and grateful to Dean for having us on his property.

We stayed (2x families with 4x children between us and 1x dog) at Karri Getaway for 5 nights in late July. Due to the recent weather we set up the 2x vans on the hill site and it was marvellous. The view was outstanding and having the fire pit and long drop toilet made it extremely convenient. The view from the hill is breathtaking. The kids had heaps of places to explore, dig and play and we were able to explore some of the walk paths in the forest. Having the site to ourself was an absolute highlight. The tyre swing was a big big with kids of all ages.
Dean was a great host and had the fire going for us when we arrived. He was helpful and checked in throughout our stay. The property was peaceful but not too remote which was handy for daily outings and visiting local wineries and beaches in the region.
Would absolutely stay again (maybe this time when the wind wasn’t arctic and the water was warmer).
