Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). We are 1 hour East of Melbourne along the M1, (and a couple of kms off the M1). Situated in West Gippsland, Casa Cucina is a feast for the senses from the alpine majesty of the Baw Baw Plateau, the Bunyip State Forest, the lush green valleys, to the rivers and streams… there is always something to do in West Gippsland for the curious. Other attractions in the area are Gumbuya World, Nangara Reserve, Noojee and Neerim South, PLUS of course the wineries. The Tarago River backs onto our small yet spacious, open yet shaded space. The river is shallow for paddling, as well as ‘swimmable’ (at your own risk), a lovely spot to cool off on our warm summer days, or a mesmerising place to sit, watch, read, contemplate, draw or write. Some large old Mountain Ash remain along the river bank, with lots of new plantings. It is not uncommon to see an echidna, a variety of stunning birdlife, and on dusk, maybe a wombat family. We also host a family of platypus if you are very quiet. Our river block can hold up to 4 caravans (under 10 metres) and a couple of tents in one group (one booking). In addition, the upper adjoining block can accommodate 2 caravans (enquire for this option). This is a single group occupancy site so you can enjoy the privacy of your group. If you wish to hook into our powered site, please add $10 per night, per van. All campers will also have access to our Casa Cucina gorgeous eclectic, quirky community space to sit in out of the weather. Please note: This is not an accommodation space. As a reminder, all campers will need to be Self Contained as we have no toilet facilities, no access to fresh water, cold showers only and no cooking facilities. Also remember if you wish to have a fire in our firepit, you MUST bring your own wood.

This is a great site. Friendly staff welcome you, plenty of places to pitch a tent without being near anyoneelse, spotlessly clean toilets and hot showers. All within (steep) walking distance of Mount Martha and the beach. Very affordable, highly recommended.

What a beautiful place. Birds galore and there are apparently platypus in the creek. Gorgeous and well kept little reserve obviously loved by generations of people. Gifted to the public by a visionary from long ago, it’s testament to what a little love and respect can do for the environment. Beautifully maintained but wear your thongs, sandals, shoes as there are one or two three corner jacks around.

More than just a paddock. This is a piece of paradise and better than most caravan parks I've been to. Kind and helpful hosts A beautiful property with ample flat space for car and camper The gardens are gorgeous with lots of little garden rooms but the highlights were the under cover camp kitchen with potbelly and lots of special little touches, a walk around the pretty damn and lots of interesting sculptures and garden art. This place is amazing

Great place to stay, good access to toilets and potable water, other campsites were close by which made it comfortable as first time campers. Rangers were super helpful with showing us around and even assisted us with bringing over a fire pit. Would highly recommend for anyone starting their camping journey!

Chris's place by the river is beautiful. The sound of the river and the birds was breathtaking. The grounds were extremely neat and tidy and the little hut was very quirky and interesting. We sat in there one afternoon when it got quite windy so it was very handy. Chris was very quick responding to any communication and very friendly.

We enjoyed a week in a tent at the scout camp, and are very grateful they're willing to share the place with others. Plenty of gas-fired instant hot water for the showers, potable water, and it felt safe and secure. Although on 80 acres, the allocated Hipcamp area was in the south east corner, near Hearn Rd and Park Rd. There's an urban bus stop in Hearn Rd ~250m from the camp entrance.
