Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

It’s impossible to keep up with changing environmental factors, photos don’t always represent current conditions.

The 20-acre dam is full at the moment (February /March '26) . Great for kayaking or SUP. Still has some weed for the birds!
On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan 0488 611 706, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them.
We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem.

We are a 10 minute drive from Rosewood and Laidley where you will find cafes, supermarkets, fuel and a variety of other things to enjoy.
Our lovely campground will accommodate swags, tents, campers, caravans and motorhomes. We provide an extensive camping ground which ensures that you will have a large amount of space to set up comfortably. Flushing toilets and hot showers are provided. We offer you the choice of a standard enclosed private shower or the fun of open air showers. We also have ice for sale.
We are happy for you to come and camp on your own or book the entire place if you have an event, large groups are welcome. There is a designated area that can be hired for parties and private functions with marquees available if required.
Pets are welcome and must be under control and on a leash as there are farm animals kept on this property.
Camp fires are permitted in communal fire areas or at your camp in provided fire drums. There is a limited number of fire drums available, so you are welcome to bring your own. The only exception will be if a local fire ban is activated. We have firewood available for sale, or you can collect free firewood off the ground. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood. No chainsaws allowed.
Please note that there is no potable water on site. You must bring your own DRINKING water.
During extreme weather events the property can be affected, so if rain is forecast, please call before heading out.

The Grandchester hotel is a short 10min walk away and offers cold drinks, great meals and friendly country hospitality.
Spicers Hidden Vale is approximately 6km away and perfect for bike riders.

Turn down all music and please lower your voices at 10pm, we don't mind if you still have fun, but take other campers into consideration please.

How to get to us? We have two ways in .
Option 1:
Via Flagstone onto Bushman Drive – then into Wyatt road follow to the end and turn right onto undullah road follow for 5 ks .
we approximately 14 km from the Flagstone Shopping Centre.
Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

Our campsites are located in a rural setting with plenty of shady trees, friendly cows and mountain views close to the Fitzroy River. Relax around a campfire on a peaceful dam and listen to the kookaburras. Dip your toes into the cool water whilst sipping watching the sunset.
It is 10km to the upgraded Fitzroy River/Thompson Point boat ramp and pontoon. Enjoy some excellent fishing and crabbing on the river, bird watching and bush walking up the many hills. Only 1/2 hr. drive to the beaches (Emu Park and Yeppoon), National Parks (Mt Etna Caves, Mt Archer Baga, Limestone Creek), and Rockhampton (Kershaw Gardens and Rockhampton Free Zoo).
Campfires in the firepits provided on each site. Pre-cut fire wood for sale on site. Pets are welcome, however the must be kept within your allocated campsite area and supervised at all time. (Dogs are not allowed to chase livestock or native animals). Quiet genset are also allowed.
Definitely no boats to be backed into the dam for washing purposes. Fish cleaning and boat washing facilities at the solar bore near front entrance. Telstra mobile reception. TV reception with antenna. We a setup for fully self contained camping, however there is a basic bush shower/toilet available for our campers.
The dam is a pristine eco area and no soap/detergents/chemicals to used in/around it. The dam is stocked with silver perch and bass – catch and release.
Camp site caters for 2 Adults and up to 4 kids per site.

While camping by the river, you can spend your days swimming, fishing, kayaking, or simply relaxing by the water or beneath the trees. Keep an eye out early in the morning for one of the property’s most special residents—the elusive platypus. The Mary River is also home to the protected Mary River lungfish, a remarkable species that has existed for millions of years and can be found in the deep rock pools.
The campsites are kept as natural as possible, offering a genuine paddock camping experience rather than manicured lawns. Guests have access to flushing toilets, hot showers for a small gold coin donation, and potable drinking water. These amenities are located a short walk from the camping area due to the risk of flooding.
Firewood and ice are available for purchase on-site. You may bring your own raised fire pit or use an existing fire pit where available. Whether you are looking for a relaxing riverside getaway, a peaceful fishing spot, or a quiet place to reconnect with nature, you will find plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the tranquillity.
Please note that this is a working farm, so you may see cattle moving through the property during your stay. The campground is located in a flood-risk area, and campers will be directed to suitable camping areas away from the riverbank depending on current conditions.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great spot! Dean was an excellent host with great communication and very accommodating with our camp setup. Chris met us at the gate and showed us to our site, making check-in really easy.
Quiet and peaceful with a creek running through the property, individual campfire areas, clean toilets and showers, free washer and dryer, and firewood available. Great location close to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures, the beach and Rex Lookout.
We only stayed one night but wish we’d stayed another. Highly recommend!
