The peace and tranquillity and spectacular scenery make this the ideal place to relax and unwind or the perfect spot to base yourself while you explore everything the Tweed Shire and the Northern Rivers Region has to offer.
On arrival you get to choose your own unpowered spot. You then set up camp. The caretaker will check you in at the spot you have chosen towards the end of the day.
Misty Mountain Campgrounds is suitable for tent campers, caravans, camper trailers and motorhomes..
PLEASE NOTE - Children aged between 3 and 15 are booked under Child Rates, Children 2 and under are Free and do not have to be booked in.

Located conveniently 45kms south of Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal,45km north of Ayr and 8km north of Giru.
The 20-acre dam is low at the moment (August '26) and grass is dry. We are dependent on rain for filling the dam. OK for kayaking or SUP. Kayaks x3 on bank for public use. Plenty of weed for the birds!
On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them.
We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem.
Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray or coils, especially if camping by the lake.
Campfires allowed. Wood for sale, $15 cash per milk crate, from caretaker Dylan. Please return crates to camp kitchen for re-filling.
Fire rings are available at the sites. Please leave them where they are as moving them is destroying the surrounding areas. Thankyou.

Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

Generator noise can disturb other people’s enjoyment of the area and disturb native wildlife and the farm animals, so think about using alternatives. Solar panels and inverters are the best ways to provide power for your must-have devices when camping and can be used anywhere.
However we do allow generators, but they can only operate strictly between 9am-6pm.
Turn down all music and please lower your voices at 10pm, we don't mind if you still have fun, but take other campers into consideration please.

We are a 10 minute drive from Rosewood and Laidley where you will find cafes, supermarkets, fuel and a variety of other things to enjoy.
Our lovely campground will accommodate swags, tents, campers, caravans and motorhomes. Our campground is 2 wheel drive accessible and we have firewood & ice for sale. We provide an extensive camping ground which ensures that you will have a large amount of space to set up comfortably. Flushing toilets and hot showers are provided.
We are happy for you to come and camp on your own or book the entire place if you have an event, large groups are welcome. There is a designated area that can be hired for parties and private functions (pls note we have a 9pm noise down curfew. We are not asking you to stop enjoying yourself, just have respect for other campers). Please contact us prior to your event to discuss availability.
Pets are welcome and must be under control and on a leash as there are farm animals kept on this property.
Camp fires are permitted in communal fire areas or at your camp in provided fire drums. There is a limited number of fire drums available, so you are welcome to bring your own fully enclosed off the ground fire bin. The only exception will be if a local fire ban is activated. We have firewood available for sale, or you can collect free firewood off the ground. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood. No chainsaws allowed.
Please note that there is no potable water on site. You must bring your own DRINKING water.

The Grandchester hotel is a short 10min walk away and offers cold drinks, great meals, take aways available and friendly country hospitality.
Spicers Hidden Vale is approximately 6km away and perfect for bike riders. It also has a coffee shop, restaurant and walking tracks.
Grandchester scale model rail rides run once a month.

Welcome to The Magic Pond, an idyllic private property escape nestled on Kabi Kabi Country, by a serene lake. Located 10 minutes off the highway, 45 minutes from Brisbane City and minutes away from the local beach and a small town.
Couples can savor the tranquil ambiance, bask in breathtaking sunsets, and create cherished memories under the stars. Families will appreciate the peaceful surroundings, with ample space to explore, unwind, and reconnect with nature.
Enjoy the lake to its fullest with your kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, or feel free to borrow ours at no charge (located on the banks). When you're ready for a change of scenery, visit the charming local cafes in Beachmere, such as Silver Spoon, Black Cat Eatery, and Beachmere Takeaway. You’ll also find an IGA, bottle shop, and Tavern, as well as a dog-friendly beach, 3-4 minute drive from The Pond. With Bribie Island and Sandstone Point 25 minutes away, you'll have convenient access to events at the Sandstone Point Hotel.
Important Information:
The Magic Pond is a private property, not a commercial business. The land is suitable for self-sufficient campers only. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES, YOU NEED TO BRING OR HIRE YOUR OWN TOILET, WITHOUT ONE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE. No dumping of waste is permitted on the property. The closest dump point is Caboolture Showgrounds (140 Beerburrum Road, Caboolture 4510), which is open 24/7 and approximately 15 km from The Magic Pond.
Firewood is available for purchase.
Bring your mozzies spray ready for dusk and dawn.

3. Driving: Please drive safely and slowly on the property (15 km/h), especially along the fence line, as this is a shared space with children, dogs, and geese

5. Camp Areas Only: Please keep wondering to the designated camp areas only, there is a private residence and an off-lead guard dog
6. Pets: Your furry family are welcome, however, keep them on a lead and PICK UP POO.

On the banks of the beautiful Fitzroy River is the Rockhampton Water Ski Club.
Only ten minutes drive from the Rockhampton CBD is the opportunity to access the only camping location along the fresh water side (upstream) of the Fitzroy River Barrage.
This site offers full amenities, including hot water showers, flushing toilets, built in bbq's, and a camp kitchen.
You can enjoy getting back to nature with the picturesque river views and enjoy the beautiful landscape or you can sit around the fire and tell some yarns with the family.
Other activities that the site provides is direct access to the Fitzroy River via the clubs boat ramp, and doc, water skiing, fishing and of course you're more than welcome to bring your own canoes or kayaks.
There are plenty of places for the kids to play and swim, so come for a day or a whole week.

We recommend staying at the Rockhampton Waterski park, if you like a bush setting & to have a bit of room to yourself! Not busy while we were there and we felt safe. A small walk down to the Fitzroy river. Caretaker friendly but ONE drawback! It was advertised on HipCamp as having potable water , but there wasn’t any! We made a couple of trips into Rocky Information Centre to fill up, it would have been nice to know this BEFORE we arrived. Otherwise GOOD.

Weekend Trip to McKenzies Mountain, Wollumbin
Thoroughly enjoyed camping on James Mckenzie’s property. Amazing views of the mountains, a creek that was refreshing to swim in, and plenty of firewood available to purchase from him at a price you can’t beat in elsewhere.

The serenity of Hold it Flats was just wonderful. The riverfront site were we stayed was perfect and we were spoilt with little furry visitors over our stay.
The hikes are with doing and lookouts were well maintained and the views are breathtaking.
Kate also caters for her guests with cold drinks at the top. So thoughtful.

This farmstay is in our opinion one of, if not, the very best we have stayed at. Kate and her hubby as well as Sharon & Dave are exceptional and the stay has everything to make your stay something to rave about. A beautiful creek to swim in, great tracks to hike dotted by lookouts that are quirky bars where you can enjoy the sunrises or sunsets with a drink. With flushing toilets, warm showers, fire pits and great sites by the creek it really deserves a 5 star rating. But make sure you book if you want a creek side site.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Bares Hideaway. Friendly and accommodating hosts. Directions easy to follow. Well maintained sites and amenities, flushing toilets and hot showers scattered throughout the camp ground. Wood delivered every afternoon if needed. Loved the daily visits from the goats and sheep, not intrusive, they had a graze and then moved on. Will definitely be back!

Lindsey was very friendly and made us feel super welcome straight away. Nice big grounds so everyone was spread out. It felt very safe and peaceful. Toilets are good, showers a little on the smaller side but nice hot water. Loved how Sadie the dog would wander round to each camp to check everyone was ok (cutest site warden ever).
