Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken with you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

Located conveniently 45kms south of Townsville and Magnetic Island ferry terminal,45km north of Ayr and 8km north of Giru.
The 20-acre dam is full at the moment (February /March '26) . Great for kayaking or SUP. Still has some weed for the birds!
On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan 0488 611 706, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them.
We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem.
Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray especially if camping by the lake.
Campfires allowed. Wood for sale, $15 cash per milk crate, from caretaker Dylan. Please return crates to camp kitchen for re-filling.

Welcome to 'Bares Hideaway', a 43 acre property nestled away from prying eyes in a secluded valley along the Liverpool Ranges in Grandchester. We are a short 1 hr drive from Brisbane and Toowoomba surrounded by acres of bushland.
We are a 10 minute drive from Rosewood and Laidley where you will find cafes, supermarkets, fuel and a variety of other things to enjoy.
Our lovely campground will accommodate swags, tents, campers, caravans and motorhomes. We provide an extensive camping ground which ensures that you will have a large amount of space to set up comfortably. Flushing toilets and hot showers are provided. We offer you the choice of a standard enclosed private shower or the fun of open air showers. We also have ice for sale.
We are happy for you to come and camp on your own or book the entire place if you have an event, large groups are welcome. There is a designated area that can be hired for parties and private functions with marquees available if required.
Pets are welcome and must be under control and on a leash as there are farm animals kept on this property.
Camp fires are permitted in communal fire areas or at your camp in provided fire drums. There is a limited number of fire drums available, so you are welcome to bring your own. The only exception will be if a local fire ban is activated. We have firewood available for sale, or you can collect free firewood off the ground. You are also welcome to bring your own firewood. No chainsaws allowed.
Please note that there is no potable water on site. You must bring your own DRINKING water.
During extreme weather events the property can be affected, so if rain is forecast, please call before heading out.
Things to do and see:
The Grandchester hotel is a short 10min walk away and offers cold drinks, great meals and friendly country hospitality.
Spicers Hidden Vale is approximately 6km away and perfect for bike riders.
Rosewood train museum showcases steam locomotives and Grandchester scale model rail rides run once a month.
All sites are unpowered. Generators are welcome between 7am and 9pm.

Turn down all music and please lower your voices at 10pm, we don't mind if you still have fun, but take other campers into consideration please.

Our campsites are located in a rural setting with plenty of shady trees, friendly cows and mountain views close to the Fitzroy River. Relax around a campfire on a peaceful dam and listen to the kookaburras. Dip your toes into the cool water whilst sipping watching the sunset.
It is 10km to the upgraded Fitzroy River/Thompson Point boat ramp and pontoon. Enjoy some excellent fishing and crabbing on the river, bird watching and bush walking up the many hills. Only 1/2 hr. drive to the beaches (Emu Park and Yeppoon), National Parks (Mt Etna Caves, Mt Archer Baga, Limestone Creek), and Rockhampton (Kershaw Gardens and Rockhampton Free Zoo).
Campfires in the firepits provided on each site. Pre-cut fire wood for sale on site. Pets are welcome, however the must be kept within your allocated campsite area and supervised at all time. (Dogs are not allowed to chase livestock or native animals). Quiet genset are also allowed.
Definitely no boats to be backed into the dam for washing purposes. Fish cleaning and boat washing facilities at the solar bore near front entrance. Telstra mobile reception. TV reception with antenna. We a setup for fully self contained camping, however there is a basic bush shower/toilet available for our campers.
The dam is a pristine eco area and no soap/detergents/chemicals to used in/around it. The dam is stocked with silver perch and bass – catch and release.

1770 Eco Camp, located at the base of the mountain and just 2 minutes from town, offers a peaceful bushland escape. We are a family of six and loved our stay at Take-A-Break camp. The toilet and shower (hot water!!) unit made the stay even more enjoyable. We loved using the kayaks on the dam and practising our fishing skills with the silver perch. (We caught (and returned) three fish. The stay is also located a short driving distance from Rockhampton and Emu Park Beach. Overall, a great stay and would highly recommend.

Had a fantastic overnight stay. The campsite was peaceful, well-maintained and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. I loved being so close to the water and it was the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy a quiet night under the stars. Ian & Tracy have created a wonderful camping experience and I’d happily stay again. Large grassy sites, plenty of room for larger set ups. Our truck and van are just under 20m and was able to stay hitched if we wanted to. Only 25 minutes into emu park. Sealed the whole way except for the last 200m. Great value for money. Would stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed the natural beauty of Bushywood with its wide variety of birdlife. We were also visited by a kangaroo at our camp site. Access was easy for our Toyota Rav4 towing our 15 foot caravan. I walked a number of the beautiful walks within the property along the side of the lake and through the bush. Our hosts Emma and Bushy were a delight with their friendly service going way beyond normal expectations in helping us.

Katie was incredibly helpful. We accidentally booked a trackside site but wanted to set up our tent near the riverside, which normally would have required an additional fee. However, she kindly waived the extra charge and let us camp there anyway. We really appreciated her kindness.

If you are planning on staying with just a swag/gazebo set up, be warned the wind is quite extreme from site 3, but manageable with good tie downs.

We got there quite late 10pm, and James was there waiting for us to show a good place for us to park our van, he was really helpful. Really beautiful location.
I saw some bad reviews and was skeptical however I felt the property was well looked after. The portaloo’s were clean. There was some areas with dumped things like prams, old tents etc. But it was really not noticeable and didn’t affect our campsite or stay at all.
I would absolutely come here again and recommend it.
