Gordens track camping grounds is located right on the fringe of the Alberton West state forest. This is an excellent place for mountain/dirtbike and horse riders. You could ride though the forest for days and not see all of it. (Please note Motorbikes & Horses are not to be ridden on the property) the campsites are all shaded by gums and provide and excellent place relax by nature! Within the camping ground we have campsite 1 . We had an absolutely wonderful stay. The tiny home is set on stunning landscape, surrounded by beautiful scenery. The views are incredible, and the sunsets were a real highlight. The host was extremely friendly and welcoming, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The tiny home itself is very well equipped, with everything you need. One of the highlights of the property is the walk through the property. It’s absolutely amazing, and I highly encourage everyone to take the time to explore it. We couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and would happily return.

We had a wonderful time at Susan's campsite. The location is stunning and the campsite is very well equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, a fire pit, an outdoor table and benches and a hut with a table and chairs. The hut was perfect for playing cards while it was raining. Also the campsite is very private. We fell in love with the landscape: green rolling hills, gorgeous-looking cows, and pristine rainforest. Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful property. And being able to bring our dog was a big +. We will be back. The toolshed at Noojie is a great spot to have dinner. ❤️🐮🦆

Weekend Trip to Sandy Point Camping

Monica was a lovely host who tended to our needs (she even lended us raincoats as we forgot to bring our own, and bought us incense to help us keep the bugs away!). The facilities were great - Awesome BBQ, fire chiminea which was great for keeping us warm at night, good simple running water / sink situation. Scenic 30 min drive from Wilson’s Prom. Another highlight of our weekend was having a resident koala staying in the tree next to us! Highly recommend, we would definitely stay here again.

2 nights at Whispering Gums

A beautiful and peaceful spot. Susan was a fantastic host, thoughtful, kind and responsive. I was even gifted some homemade chilli jam and eggs. I spent 2 nights here just cooking on the fire, watching the wildlife by the pond including a wide variety of bird life and a fox. The set up has everything you need- camp toilet, mud kitchen, table and chairs and even a hut to have shelter in the rain. Plenty of fallen kindling to be collected if needed. Will return to explore some of the walking tracks. So nice to be able to have a solo getaway and not have to share the campsite with anyone, but feel totally safe. Just a short drive into town. Highly recommend.

First awake at camp is a special time. Day breaks with the chorus of waterhen, Wonga Pigeon and kookaburra, backed by pobblebonk and the odd snuffling of the cows. Alone? Not with this crowd 🤩.

Great setup for a few days of peace and private relaxation. Firepit and facilities with a beautiful dam full of birds, yabbies and different moods and colours, depending on the time of day. What a great place! So clean, plenty of space for the 9 of us and privacy between camp-sites. The hut is perfect for extra room if needed to prepare food, has a large picnic table to sit & eat or shelter from the rain. With the forest across the road and Port Welshpool a quick bike or car ride away, this camp really has everything. From riding along tracks to walking the beach or long pier, very relaxing for a short or long stay. Hosts are easy to communicate with and give great directions...camp-site is extremely easy to get to with a caravan or trailer. 1 night at Millers Farm "The Hills are alive"

It was pure joy to wake up on Miller's farm. The rooster heralded dawn - better than any alarm clock. That inspired the chorus of birdsong; kookaburras, cockatoos, wattlebirds, magpies, currawongs. That in turn encouraged the sheep - they started their day bleating for their feathered friends to join them. Farmer Anne let the feathers free and mayhem reigned. Chooks, turkeys and the sole duck running around chatting with excitement at the new day. The goats and alpacas were pretty happy to say hi too. How lucky were we to be part of it. Highly recommend Miller's Camp - check in was easy. Communication great. Anne was lovely. Camp kitchen was a bonus. Great stay. Thankyou.

Where to go

Wilsons Promontory National Park

East of Inverloch, the wild beaches and windswept sea cliffs of Wilsons Promontory National Park afford plenty of ways to escape the crowds. Hike to the viewpoints of Mount Oberon and Mount Bishop, explore the Big Drift sand dunes, or pitch a tent in the wilderness. There’s also a camping area with BBQs, an amenities block, and a camp kitchen at Tidal River.

South Gippsland

The 12-km coastal drive from Inverloch to Cape Paterson serves up some of South Gippsland’s most dramatic ocean views, hugging the sea cliffs of the Bunurong Marine National Park. Hop out to admire natural wonders such as the Eagles Nest, Flat Rocks, and The Caves, and park your motorhome at a rural Hipcamp along the way. Further west, dive into Victoria’s coal mining history at Wonthaggi, go bird-watching around the Wonthaggi Wetlands Reserve, or hike the George Bass Coastal Walk from Kilcunda.

Phillip Island

Dangling off the southwestern tip of Gippsland, Phillip Island is best known for its colonies of Little Penguins and draws a steady stream of day-trippers from Melbourne. The best way to witness the sunset Penguin Parade is by staying the night, so snag a spot at one of the island’s holiday parks, Hipcamps, or glampsites. With extra time on the island, you can also stop at Seal Rocks, hike the Cape Woolamai Walk, and visit the Koala Conservation Centre.

When to go

It’s warm enough for swimming and water sports at Gippsland’s beaches from late spring through early autumn, but avoid the peak summer months (Dec-Jan) if you don’t like crowds. March is an ideal compromise and also sees the town host its annual Inverloch Jazz Festival. Winter weather can be wet and cold, although it rarely dips below freezing, and this is the time to spot migrating whales along the coast.
