17 acres, with 2 cleared, only 3 kms as the crow flies, from the coast. You can hear the surf in the evening. The property is the bush refuge corner of a larger grazing property. Whilst sheep and cattle graze on one side of the fence, the wildlife grazing on "our" side includes echidnas, wombats, wallabies, possums, koalas, and is home to more than 30 species of birds identified so far. Tarwin Lower EcoStudio is not far out of town and the Tarwin River (4 kms), for boating, paddling and fishing. Slightly further afield is Andersen Inlet (great fishing, paddling, paddle boarding, boating, and shallow waters for very young children), Venus Bay Surf beaches, and Walkerville South bay beach (with boat ramp). Waratah Bay and Wilsons Promontory less than an hour's drive away. And that's just the water sports. The Great Southern Rail Trail is just up the road, at Koonwarra or Leongatha, and has a range of rides with varying degrees of challenge. The Eco Studio itself is completely off grid, built from reclaimed and recycled materials, as part of our commitment to living lightly. There is an outdoor kitchen, and composting toilet, and our home garden (we live on the property too) is often abundant and the fresh organic produce is for sale for our visitors. Pitch your tent or camper near our picturesque dam with 3 jetties, a boat shed and walking track along dam. Throw in a line to catch a silver perch, bass or get the kids to catch some yabbies, they are great cooked up with chilli & garlic. Our property joins onto the Neerim East State Park for those walking enthusiasts or we can accommodate your horse in our yards should you want to explore the bush with many tracks directly from the property. We offer drinking water & toilet accessed from house. Neerim South is home to many wildlife and expect to see many bird species, kangaroos, deer and the odd wombat trailing through. Chris & I are campers ourselves, so we know how nice it is to have a quiet and private spot all to ourselves, however before long you have people on top of you at caravan parks or at free camping you may experience the doof doof music until god knows what hour. So we offer exclusive private campsite all to your self, we only book one group at a time. Neerim South is home to many wildlife and expect to see many bird species, kangaroos, deer and the odd wombat trailing through. FIRE PLAN In the event of high fire danger periods our campers may be asked to evacuate the property for their safety. Instructions will be provided prior. In the event of fires in surrounding areas, it may be necessary to cancel a future booking and or evacuate the site at short notice, this will be reimbursed by Hipcamps. We had a wonderful time at Susan's campsite. The location is stunning and the campsite is very well equipped with an outdoor kitchen area, a fire pit, an outdoor table and benches and a hut with a table and chairs. The hut was perfect for playing cards while it was raining. Also the campsite is very private. We fell in love with the landscape: green rolling hills, gorgeous-looking cows, and pristine rainforest. Thank you Susan for sharing your beautiful property. And being able to bring our dog was a big +. We will be back. The toolshed at Noojie is a great spot to have dinner. ❤️🐮🦆

2 nights at Whispering Gums

A beautiful and peaceful spot. Susan was a fantastic host, thoughtful, kind and responsive. I was even gifted some homemade chilli jam and eggs. I spent 2 nights here just cooking on the fire, watching the wildlife by the pond including a wide variety of bird life and a fox. The set up has everything you need- camp toilet, mud kitchen, table and chairs and even a hut to have shelter in the rain. Plenty of fallen kindling to be collected if needed. Will return to explore some of the walking tracks. So nice to be able to have a solo getaway and not have to share the campsite with anyone, but feel totally safe. Just a short drive into town. Highly recommend.

First awake at camp is a special time. Day breaks with the chorus of waterhen, Wonga Pigeon and kookaburra, backed by pobblebonk and the odd snuffling of the cows. Alone? Not with this crowd 🤩.

Great setup for a few days of peace and private relaxation. Firepit and facilities with a beautiful dam full of birds, yabbies and different moods and colours, depending on the time of day. Sue and Chris are fantastic and caring hosts, living on site and welcoming campers to share their wonderful little piece of paradise.

Excellent stay. Great location some 15k’s inland from lovely Inverloch. Great views. Easy access to the property and ideal for any 2WD’s. We have a MH and had access to both power and water if required. We didn’t bother. We were met by the engaging host Adrian who kindly showed me around. What a gem of a place. Manicured lawns in a large fully fenced paddock with a new camp kitchen, hot shower and seperate very clean toilet. 4 sites in total. Lovely dam to the rear of the property and walks back on the roadway overlooking the ocean to the distance. Adrian supplied a great fire pit, kindling and wood at a cost of $25 per night. Overall a wonderful stay - well worth a visit - you won’t be disappointed. Will definitely be back.

We had the most relaxing, enjoyable weekend tucked away in the cabin. Very private, warm and with the amenities you need: comfy bed, tidy bathroom, cooking supplies. We enjoyed both cool evenings and rain at night - which was pleasant thanks to the cosy wood burner - plus blue sky days which made for great exploring and spotting wildlife, also close to the inlet and Venus bay. We were welcomed with freshly harvested strawberries from Jo which was a delight!

What a wonderful property. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly. Beautiful views. Great camp kitchen and shower and toilet. We had such a relaxing break away. So peaceful. We spotted, kangaroo's 🦘 rabbits 🐇 and a very happy Koala 🐨. The sunsets were incredible. We would highly recommend and we will return. 👌👍😁😁🔥🍷🍾🥂

It is truly a beautiful rural setting with the convenience of a camp kitchen toilet and shower which have been beautifully designed and built . The area to camp is fenced off but that guest stop the magnificent views. Cows were neighbours plus a koala in the tree near us . Lush grass to camp on. The hosts were great and we had Adrian the farmer deliver us our fire pit and kindling and wood each night . We were able to top up the wood from the stockpile. It’s only about 15 minutes to the beach and we also had lunch at the tarwin lower pub which was only around a 10 minutes drive . Wonderful stay

Whispering Gums is such a lovely campsite! Great facilities, there is a camp kitchen and hut in case you need to get out of the elements. Sue and Chris are amazing hosts and we were lucky to meet Sue's horse Amy (and Banjo and the 3 cows) Having the whole site to yourself makes it a wonderful experience and made it super easy for our dogs. Would highly recommend.

We had a great weekend away at Whispering Gums. Host Sue was lovely and really helpful - she came to our rescue when we had a camper trailer malfunction and made the stay fantastic. Great site, we loved morning coffee overlooking the dam, and the campfire and mud kitchen were useful. The portaloo was very handy and Sue was quick and efficient with the changeover when needed. It was lovely to meet Amy the horse and have a walk over the beautiful property to admire the cows and the view. Thanks for the enjoyable stay Sue, we hope to be back!

Host Sue, was extremely kind and generous. The love she has for her place shows. As a group of 3 families we felt very welcomed and had everything we needed. The addition of the toilet set up (and change overs) were greatly appreciated with kids in tow. We loved the back drop of rolling hills and the space for the dogs to run around. Highlight for the kids was definitely getting to see and ride Amy, the horse. Just magical.
