We would definitely recommend Clara and Caleb's place for camping. It is very serene and offers many amenities such as compostable toilet, disposal bins, water and electricity supply. It is a great camping set up. You will definitely have the best sleep under the stars.

We had a great stay at this campsite! The area was spacious, perfect for a big group to spread out and relax without feeling crowded. The toilets were very clean, which made the whole experience even more comfortable. It’s a very peaceful and stress-relieving place, surrounded by nature — we felt completely recharged after the trip. Highly recommend for groups of friends or families looking for a relaxing outdoor getaway!

We stayed in Ruby's house. Very private and plenty of room for a bigger group. Great flushing toilet and a shelter for rain. Loved the donkeys and so did the kids!

Loved camping here! Plenty of places to set up the tents and go exploring. The campsite area was clean and well maintained. There were great views of the ranges and surrounding hills. Also the owners were very kind and considerate with our last minute group changes making it very flexible to adjust our costs. Would definitely consider visiting again in the future!

Really enjoyed our stay at Clara and Caleb’s hipcamp. Was very spacious for the 2 couples and the doggie 🐶 The compost toilet was super clean! The sourdough and eggs were delicious, definitely recommend adding them onto the stay. Caleb was fantastic at helping with anything extra we needed, very accommodating hosts!

Fantastic property with private camping spots right on the creek. Glen and Kim are great hosts, very responsive and willing to make your experience relaxing. There is a couple of nice cafes/restaurants nearby as well to add to the experience. Highly recommend for a weekend away.

Lovely quiet secluded spot on beautiful country overlooking dam. Loved our stay. A few cars go by on the nearby road but other than that it was very peaceful.

2 nights at Strath Creek Station

We have been to Strath Creek Station once before and this is our second stay there. It is a lovely place, spacious sites far enough from other sites. There is a portable toilet for us to use, usually one per site so you only have to share with the people in your own site. In saying that, you have to be fully self contained ie as if you are going off grid. You will need water and power and take your rubbish away. It is peaceful, a big fenced off doggie run which our dogs love. Kim and Glen are friendly. You can request Kim to bake you a sour dough bread prior to arriving at site for $7. We find that it is a nice stop, only 1 hour 40 mins before getting home.

Michael was a great communicator with clear instructions. The site and property was clean and well presented. Site 2 was shady with abundant bird life. Well spaced in the middle of the other 2 sites. The water was literally 10 m away. Will certainly go again

Weekend Trip to Iron Brook Donkey Farm

A beautiful peaceful campsite with stunning views over the Yarra ranges. Plenty of space on the campsite with an area for a campfire (weather and regulations permitting). We were right by the donkey paddock and they were more than happy to have strokes and scratches. The resident dogs were also happy to have cuddles. Bathroom facilities are basic but flushing toilets and a hot shower plus a big sink for washing dishes. We had a fabulous 2 night stay and would definitely recommend.

The Fern Glade

Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

Bushwalk along the little creek among tall trees and majestic tree ferns, or just sit in a deck chair and take in the exquisite views at the top of the hill. Multiple tracks head through the Yarra State Forest where you can wind your way along dirt roads through to Noojee, Powelltown, or Reefton, each of which have a cosy pub at the end of the drive. There are different campsite locations on the property, depending on if you would like isolation or convenience. We also offer excellent toilet and bathroom facilities which are now included with all bookings. We also allow campfires only when fire restrictions aren't in place - which is often all summer. Children under 3 are free, but for insurance purposes, please mention them in the comments. Day visitors are $20 per person, which incudes a donkey patting session. This property has an overall capacity to ensure that our number of visitors remain low. This not only ensures that campers recieve the space and peace they look for in a campsite like this, but also so that we can ensure the bathrooms can be kept clean and not overloaded. This is also a part of our COVID safe plan. Due to this overall capacity it is important that you book for the number of people that you intend to have stay, as while we try to accomodate increases to booking numbers, they are not guaranteed unless booked. If we have met overall capacity then we may not be able to approve increases to booking numbers. This is for the comfort and safety of all our visitors. Our property, "Seven Hills Tallarook", sits high above Tallarook with deep valleys and high peaks, just over one hour North of Melbourne's CBD. The property is 600 acres of thick Victorian bush and farmed paddocks. We have a wide range of hobby farm animals - pigs, sheep, alpacas, chickens, ponies, a donkey, along with commercial heard of South African Boer Goats. As night falls, the wildlife come out to play - kangaroos, rabbits, deer and wallabies. Internally, we have in excess of 10 kilometers of roads within the property, the majority being 2WD accessible (weather conditions apply). There are parts of the property which are only 4WD accessible. Our campsites are placed to allow you to be as isolated as possible - away from other campers (you may see others as you drive past, or they drive past you). At some of our bush sites, you will be able to see other campers, but they are not close by. Additionally, we have now entered our Fire Danger Period for the 2024/2025 Summer Season. We have not toggled the Fire Ban on as we do still allow campfires, however campers MUST adhere to CFA guidelines at all times. On days of Total Fire Ban (TFB), no fires, including gas stoves can be lit outdoors. Furthermore, we reserve the right to ask you not to light a fire regardless of TFB status if we feel weather conditions are unsafe, especially the wind element. We cannot plan the weather and the request to not light your campfires will most likely on the day and we will advise as such. Our interest is with your safety, our neighbors and our property & family.

Castella River Farm is an 8 acre property with many natural features including Mountain Ash trees and bushland near the camp sites. The Yea river runs behind the property and camping areas. Locally we are close to all the Yarra Valley and Kinglake Ranges have to offer from wineries to the National Parks for hiking. We are 10 minutes from Kinglake township and 15 mins to Yarra Glen, which means a quick trip if you need supplies. The highway is close by which makes it handy to get out and about. Wildlife we have seen on the property includes Wallabies, Echidna, and an abundance of bird life. Laugh with the Kookaburras at sunset. Dogs are welcome however due to wildlife and the bush location, we ask that you please keep them on a lead at all times. If you are planning on bringing a dog with you, please let us know in advance. We also have horses (separate from the campsite) that campers can feed a carrot if they wish! Water is available from our stables water tank. It is Tank water so not crystal clear but think of it as euculyptus tea! NB: **We do have neighbours and the highway near by so there will be some noise . Would suit campers who want to kick the footy, wade in the river and maybe go 4wding or out and about fishing. Ok to play your own music near the camp fire as you are far enough away down the back paddock! **Not suited to those wanting to be in the middle of nowhere
