Just a half an hour drive from Wangaratta, 45 minutes from Benalla and an hour from Mansfield. Each site offers something a little different whether it is a spacious site for a large group or party or a smaller site for a family weekend away. Our site is accessible for all vehicle types and is dog-friendly as long as pets are well-controlled. Campfires are allowed when restrictions aren’t in place, and firewood and kindling is available for purchase (see Extras). Please keep in mind that the property is a working farm and there will be cars and machinery onsite nearby to some of the sites. Each powered site has only 1 power supply. No chainsaws are to be used on the property, as per Hipcamps insurance policy. There is plenty of wood around that you are welcome to collect yourselves, otherwise, we can supply loads of wood for $50 (enough for a campfire over a long weekend). SETTING UP CAMP: Please be mindful of where you choose to set up your camp. While we endeavour to keep the sites as safe as possible, some hazards include; trees and limbs falling, snakes and thistles. TRACK CONDITION The track to the campsite is bumpy and needs to be driven slowly, we have had a 22ft caravan towed by a 100 series set up here with no troubles. FIREARMS: as per Hipcamps insurance policy, no firearms are to be used on the property. We understand that State Forest attracts hunting, which we are all for, however, we ask you to respect our wishes and keep all firearms legally stored while you are on our property. Do speak to us for some local knowledge about great hunting spots! WHAT'S AROUND? BENAMBRA is a small, remote farming community 15 minutes from the property. There you will find a post office and general store, a small playground, public toilets and a great pub open for beautiful meals and cold beers Tues-Sun nights! The property is on the side of a hill, which provides spectacular valley views to the north. Our family live in the recently completed straw bale house on the property, which sits well below the camping sites. The property has a fully functional camp kitchen with a large deck as well as a bathroom with toilet and shower. Due to the slope the tent sites are not suitable for camp trailers (the tent sites are flat but there is nowhere flat to park a car next to it) and the tent sites are not suitable for vehicles. We spent four nights here over the new year break with our 17- and 20-year-old sons and had an amazing time. Evenings were spent camping and sitting by the campfire, while our days were filled with exploring the local surrounds. The hosts made us feel welcome from the very beginning, which really added to the experience. Highly recommended — we’d happily stay again.

The space is so beautiful. Camping by the creek, having access to swim or hang out in their spring fed dams, the immense bird life and a beautifully quiet place. Such a lovely part of Victoria. Hosts were SO lovely you can tell this is a place they love and want to share with fellow travelers. Really special place highly recommend. Oh also Jai offers to cook Sri Lankin dishes if you let her know in advance!

We absolutely loved staying at kickin back with Jai and Collin, they were immediately helpful and so kind a friendly - even helping us with some great walks and swims to do in the local area! We stayed in the ‘naughty corner’ which was nice and peaceful and we absolutely loved it. We loved the scenery and loved our morning dips in the water - no better way to start the day! Jai kindly made us a delicious Sri Lankan meal which was exactly what we needed after a long day of hiking and we loved talking to her. Would recommend staying here to everyone! 🫶

Spent 7 days including Christmas day at site 2 Riverside Bush Camp. The sites are so big l thought we were on our own. Beautiful large shade trees, everywhere was nice and green, and so peaceful. Our hosts Daemon and Sara were lovely and accommodating. Would 100% recommend this camping spot, we will be back.
