There are separate campsites available. Rodborough Vale is 600 acres with a combination of creek flats, native bushland and rocky volcanic outcrops. A working sheep property with some cropping, It is home to the well known Rodvale Border Leicester Stud. Farming in harmony with the native fauna and flora, guests may be able to spot many native species including platypus, wedge tail eagles, kookaburra and many more. Fronting Deep Creek, guests have access to fishing or just sit and listen to the crystal clear water meandering past the campsites. The farm borders Tullaroop Reservoir which is only a ten minute walk from most campsites, there you can find public toilets and picnic areas it is well known for its fly fishing for trout. The boat ramp is around 400m from the front gate and guests are welcome to leave vehicles and trailers on the property for convenience. Note : The reservoir is currently only open to electric powered boats and canoes. Dogs are welcome but must be very well behaved around sheep. Flushing toilet available at the shearing shed. Good access for caravans and large RV's. Amplified music is not allowed. Local attractions are the historic towns of Maldon, Clunes, Avoca and Dunolly all part of the Central Goldfields. We welcome everyone who would like to relax whilst respecting the environment and all fellow hipcampers. We are family and dog friendly, with the space for multiple families to camp together on our spacious sites. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DRUNKEN AND/OR NOISY PARTYING!!! Pitch your completely self-sufficient sleeping quarters on our peaceful, flat, 7 acre property which backs onto the Bald Hill Nature Reserve and is less than five minutes drive from Kyneton’s historic Piper Street which is full of delightful restaurants and cafes. Take under an hour to drive up and explore beautiful Bendigo, experience delightful Daylesford nearby and meander around the wonderful wineries of the Macedon Ranges. Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions and must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA website 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. We have four separate camping locations on the property; you can easily have up to four RVs on sites 1, 2 and 4 and two on site 3. We have tried to ensure privacy for each location but you may be able to see other guests and/or the house through the many trees. Please be aware that there are two dams on the property so children should supervised at all times. My own children swim in the dam and there is a kayak available but lifejackets must be worn by children in, around and on the water to minimise risk. Pets are welcome. The kangaroos may prove quite enticing for some pets and as such we recommend dogs be kept on their leash. Site 4 has ringlock fencing and farm gates which can be helpful to contain your pets. Please be aware that the Kyneton Gun Club has their monthly clay target shoot on the 3rd Sunday of each month (2nd Sunday in December) from 11am until 5pm during which time you will hear them clay pigeon shooting. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. Guests under the age of 25 must be accompanied by their parents.

The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole. Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming. ***Pit-toilet (portable) available: - There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only. ***Keep Clean. -We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival. ***Warning. -Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property. ***Fire Wood: - You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have. ***More info. -The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. You will see a vehicle passing by maybe once per hour in the daytime.

Amazing campsites next to the little river. The sites are far apart, and especially Island Bend is a very private spot. We enjoyed the cool water in the river on the hot days. So many birds, and large trees, really love this place.

As we drove onto the property, I instantly felt like I could breathe — it was absolutely beautiful. We stayed at the Creek Flat site, which was perfect for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The host was very friendly and happily answered all our questions, which made the stay even easier. The property is large, with plenty of wildlife and farm animals wandering around, adding to the charm. We only stayed for two nights but truly wished we could have stayed longer.

A spectacular place to stay. From lying in bed in the large tent watching the sheep and birds, cooking over the open fire, and enjoying the breeze while in the outdoor bath, we enjoyed every moment of it. Greeted warmly by the host on arrival. Adequate amenities provided for cooking and cleaning, and plenty of blankets to stay warm. Easy to buy firewood from the hosts - we let them know beforehand, and the firewood already at our campsite ready to use. We also really enjoyed the short hike up the hills to be greeted with amazing views. Would highly recommend, and hope we can come here again soon.

Stunning, peaceful spot - perfect for a camping getaway. The campfire was nice, and the flat grounds made pitching our tent super easy. Being so close to the Loddon River was ideal for our fishing. Beautiful views all around - lots of ground for our dog to run around.

Second visit to Rodborough Vale and still a firm favourite. Beautiful location, fishing was excellent and large sized campsite (weeping willow). Mark, the host, is welcoming and keeps the sites in good condition. Easy drive from Bendigo or Ballarat, highly recommend. Dog friendly for well behaved dogs.

Weekend Trip to Rodborough Vale

Island Bend was a spacious campsite with lovely views and creek to have a dip in. Mark was very welcoming and checked in on us when needed. Highly recommend this campsite for big groups who require their own large space.

4 nights at Newstead Nook

Cosy nook with amenities aplenty! Every time we wanted for kitchenware, a side table, or bug spray it was already there. Blair gave clear and easy instructions for the hot water, gas and power. We had a beautiful weekend on this lil corner of bushland. The trees are full of inquisitive birds. A quick hot shower at the end of the day was such a treat while camping. You'll still be able to hear the occasional car on the nearby road, some distant music from neighbors, but the block is large enough to feel secluded and peaceful. Wonderful spot of nature.
