We are family and dog friendly, with the space for multiple families to camp together on our spacious sites. THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR DRUNKEN AND/OR NOISY PARTYING!!! Pitch your completely self-sufficient sleeping quarters on our peaceful, flat, 7 acre property which backs onto the Bald Hill Nature Reserve and is less than five minutes drive from Kyneton’s historic Piper Street which is full of delightful restaurants and cafes. Take under an hour to drive up and explore beautiful Bendigo, experience delightful Daylesford nearby and meander around the wonderful wineries of the Macedon Ranges. Campfires are allowed subject to local fire restrictions and must be fully extinguished before you turn in for the night. Please search for the CFA website 'Fire Danger Period: Can I or Can't I?' which has all of the appropriate information. Each site has a fire pit which you can use providing it is not a total fire ban. Firewood is available at a cost to you of $50 per wheelbarrow load which will easily cover two nights. We have four separate camping locations on the property; you can easily have up to four RVs on sites 1, 2 and 4 and two on site 3. We have tried to ensure privacy for each location but you may be able to see other guests and/or the house through the many trees. Please be aware that there are two dams on the property so children should supervised at all times. My own children swim in the dam and there is a kayak available but lifejackets must be worn by children in, around and on the water to minimise risk. Pets are welcome. The kangaroos may prove quite enticing for some pets and as such we recommend dogs be kept on their leash. Site 4 has ringlock fencing and farm gates which can be helpful to contain your pets. Please be aware that the Kyneton Gun Club has their monthly clay target shoot on the 3rd Sunday of each month (2nd Sunday in December) from 11am until 5pm during which time you will hear them clay pigeon shooting. We are NOT a commercial campsite and, as such, you must be fully self-contained for power, water, showers, sewage, refuse disposal, etc. Guests under the age of 25 must be accompanied by their parents.

Please read all the info before you book... This is an ideal spot for a quiet getaway or as a home base if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Dunolly or Dunolly itself. Early mornings and late evenings you may be lucky to receive visits from Kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights). The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole. Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming. ***Pit-toilet (portable) available: - There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only. ***Keep Clean. -We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival. ***Warning. -Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property. ***Fire Wood: - You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have. ***More info. -The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. You will see a vehicle passing by maybe once per hour in the daytime.

This is lovely quiet, open bushland block, close to Newstead and Castlemaine. Cairn Curran Reservoir is only a few kilometres away. Pitch a tent or drive your van in. The amazing little shack onsite offers gas cooking facilities and a sofa so you can relax in front of the beautiful little fireplace. There are great opportunities for taking leisurely walks or rides along the gravel roads surrounding the property. What makes this property special is the awesome shack which can be used for cooking and relaxing. It also has dam and incredible variety of birds, so it is a birdwatching mecca. A shower and portable toilet is available onsite. Water safety note: A dam exists within the property and is located close to the camping area. The dam does not have exclusion fencing and may be a hazard to some. This should be considered prior to booking, particularly if you have young children.

Please read all the info before you book... This is an ideal spot for a quiet getaway or as a home base if you want to explore the surrounding areas of Dunolly or Dunolly itself. Early mornings and late evenings you may be lucky to receive visits from Kangaroos. Camp freely around the designated campfire and enjoy an amazing star-gazing experience (on clear nights). The water hole is good for yabbies and great for skipping stones. We swim in it occasionally but prefer to go to the lake. We cannot endorse any swimming or entering the water hole as it is a liability issue and we cannot be responsible for anyone who chooses to swim or enter the area of the waterhole. Dunolly town has a great bakery, a pub, and a supermarket. Lake Laanacoorie 15 mins drive. Great for fishing, boats, and swimming. ***Pit-toilet (portable) available: - There is a pit toilet available for camper use but it's recommended to have a portaloo and use the onsite dunny as an emergency only. ***Keep Clean. -We ask that you take any rubbish with you when you leave. We would appreciate it if you could leave the property as you found it on arrival. ***Warning. -Regular pest control in the area might be a threat to your pet so please ensure that your pet does not stray too far off the property without your supervision. Pest control is usually concentrated in the state forest behind the property. ***Fire Wood: - You can BYO firewood or collect from the roadside. The state forest at the rear may be helpful but please don't cut down any trees. There is often a fallen tree that you can chop up if you have a chainsaw but it'll be easier to find on the roadside or BYO. If I'm able to provide firewood it'll be stacked but this is not something to depend on as it just depends on availability and time that I may not have. ***More info. -The campsite is close to the water hole which means it's also at the front of the property and approx 120m from the main road. Our stay at this site was an awesome adventure. Paul and his family were so accommodating. Paul made sure we were stocked with firewood for both days of our stay and his wife the boss drove us into town so we could attend the Spilt milk festival. He even offered to walk us back to our camp site when the uber dropped us off at the gate after our night. The camp has a shower and a toilet which are well maintained and the sites are very well spaced so we felt comfortable in our own area. We felt so safe on this stay and very well looked after. Will definitely be booking in a trip back soon. Thank you for having us!

The 2WD-accessible camping spot facing the dam is easy to reach. With only one campsite available, it's nice knowing you won’t have other groups right next to you. We didn’t get to use the canoe, but it’s there for guests to enjoy. You’ll definitely experience some wildlife during your stay. We had a very busy but respectful kookaburra keeping us company the whole time, and plenty of happy wallabies and kangaroos hopping around. In warmer weather, if you go for a bushwalk, be mindful of snakes, and you may also see flying termites arriving at sunset. Karen and David were very welcoming. Lalgambook Retreat is the perfect spot to enjoy a true camping experience while still having easy access to a hot shower and a clean flushable toilet just a short walk away.

Weekend Trip to Lalgambook Retreat

Karen and David's home at Lalgambook Retreat is magical. Nestled in a valley adjoining old gold mining settlements and the Dry Diggings section of the Great Dividing Trail it's a haven for anyone that loves nature, walking or just relaxing in a peaceful and tranquil environment where flora and fauna abound. Directions were perfect and access to the property easy with a little care. The final section of the descent into the valley is a reasonably steep but well formed drive and we managed it easily with our 8m 3.2t caravan and Landcruiser. The waterside site is easy to reverse into, is treed but with plenty of sun for solar power, and overlooks a large dam with a swimming platform. Karen and David have provided everything to make a stay more comfortable - bathroom with warm showers, bore water at the site for washing and a fire pit. We loved our 2 night stay here and could have stayed longer to take in more of the local walking. We walked to the nearby Chocolate Mill for coffee and visited the Daylesford Market and a local winery for lunch. A perfect weekend.

Cosy nook with amenities aplenty! Every time we wanted for kitchenware, a side table, or bug spray it was already there. Blair gave clear and easy instructions for the hot water, gas and power. We had a beautiful weekend on this lil corner of bushland. The trees are full of inquisitive birds. A quick hot shower at the end of the day was such a treat while camping. You'll still be able to hear the occasional car on the nearby road, some distant music from neighbors, but the block is large enough to feel secluded and peaceful. Wonderful spot of nature.
