A short 10-minute drive will take you to the beachside town of Coles Bay, while the majestic Hazards mountain range is just 15 minutes away. Travel 25 minutes north and you’ll arrive in the scenic coastal town of Bicheno. With its central location, Nick’s Nook is the ideal base for discovering the Freycinet Peninsula and beyond.
Whether you’re spending the day at the beach, visiting local wineries, or heading to St Helens for some epic downhill mountain biking, all these experiences are easily accessible within a day’s drive.

Craigie Knowe Vineyard is a working vineyard and cellar door, set on 20 hectares, with 5 hectares under vine. It is the oldest vineyard on the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania. The homestead was built in 1836 and is one of the most photographed houses in Tasmania. Please note Hipcamp charge an additional charge on top of the $25.00. Please look at our website for options.
The cellar door is open 11-4, and offers chocolate and wine pairings, and normal tastings. We also have a restaurant on site open from 11:30 - 3:00 daily during summer. It is a beautiful vineyard with plenty of outside seating. There are also 5 other cellar doors within 10 minutes of the property, so it's a great basecamp for wine lovers!
We have plenty of level ground, ideal for pulling up for a night or several. Please note, all campers must be self-contained, with their own toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you.
Just outside the property, the Swan River flows past, a great place to cool off on hot days, sometimes there are fish there too.
Swansea is 16km away and Bicheno is 26km away. Both towns have IGA supermarkets, bottle shops and restaurants, and plenty of history.
Freycinet National Park is 40 minutes, and makes for a great day trip, with beautiful walks, fantastic scenery, and of course iconic Wine Glass Bay.

A beautiful bush acreage located a five minute amble from Beaumaris Beach. The eastern side has a cleared area with little private nooks to tuck yourself into. Please note it is a bush block, not the Hilton ;) but it is peaceful and safe.
Ocean Drive is asphalt to the front gate, then it is firm, level, all weather access to the camping sites. There is a rough map of the property in the photos indicating the location of the various sites. I generally like to welcome people at thee gate if I am about but I'm not always here. Don't hesitate to contact me by phone or message.
There is clean and well maintained public toilets two hundred metres away.
Plenty of kindling is available and camp fires allowed when https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire-danger-rating/ is not a total ban. Keep under a metre, ensure the ground is cleared around and attend until extinguished.
Pets are welcome, especially dogs 👍
There are private walking trails on the property.
St Helens is under fifteen minutes away, Bay of Fires 25 minutes. Scamander 5 minutes. The famous St Helens bike trails are under ten minutes drive or accessible on your bike via the back trails. Ride direct to the trail heads! There is fantastic nine hole golf course at Scamander.

Our site (we have 1 site only) is positioned on a section of our 3 acre block that is totally private from our residence. We are located an easy 20 minute drive from Hobart airport. The site is not just in a paddock but is surrounded by beautiful native trees and garden - there is a small enclosed camp shelter with power, bench, sink, hot water, wood heater and a bar fridge. There is also an outdoor shower to rinse off after a swim.
The beach is a 5 minute walk away. We have a deck positioned to pull up to next to the shed. Clifton Beach is a beachside community located on the south arm peninsula 25 minutes from Hobart city and is the closest surf beach to Hobart.
The south arm peninsula itself has many great walks and beautiful beaches. It is a great spot to base yourself to explore Hobart and local attractions. e.g Port Arthur 90 minutes.

Deep Glen is a beautiful, quiet 5 acre property at Eaglehawk Neck, gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, fishing, swimming, diving are all at your doorstep, not to mention the famous Three Capes Track and the Port Arthur Historic site just a short drive away. If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips
Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking.
As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs.
There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van.
We only make provision for two campsites so you'll never be crowded.

Welcome to Paradise Lagoon! Here you can stay 30 metres back from the foreshore of Pelican Bay. Unfortunately you cannot see the beautiful bay view from the campsite. You can simply walk 30 metres and take your chairs and esky and spend the day marveling at the views and bird life, or even grab the kayak and paddleboard for some healthy fun .
Pelican Bay is a saltwater tidal lagoon, it's very shallow water for a long way, then gets deep a fair way out. The water is too shallow for Boats , but there is a boat ramp nearby. Wineglass Bay is just up the road in Freycinet National Park.
We only welcome guests over the age of 50 who have a fully self-contained vehicle. There are no amenities as yet so you must BYO everything you need and leave no footprint.
Unfortunatley no grass sites only gravel and black / sandy sites available .

Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions.
There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning.
The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition.
FIRES. Ok unless a fire ban. GOOD BAGS OF WOOD ON SITE FOR $20. NO OUTSIDE WOOD CAN BE BROUGHT ONTO THE PROPERTY AND BURNT. I HAVE TRIED TO MAKE A MIDDLE GROUND ON THIS ISSUE BUT UNFORTUNATELY SOME HAVE ABUSED THE FAIR RULES SO THIS IS NOW THE SITUATION.

Craigie Knowe Vineyard is a working vineyard and cellar door, set on 20 hectares, with 5 hectares under vine. It is the oldest vineyard on the beautiful East Coast of Tasmania. The cellar door is open 11-4, and offers chocolate and wine pairings, and normal tastings. We also have a restaurant on site open from 11:30 - 3:00 daily during summer. It is a beautiful vineyard with plenty of outside seating. There are also 5 other cellar doors within 10 minutes of the property, so it's a great basecamp for wine lovers!
We have plenty of level ground, ideal for pulling up for a night or several. Please note, all campers must be self-contained, with their own toilet, and we kindly ask you take all waste with you.
Just outside the property, the Swan River flows past, a great place to cool off on hot days, sometimes there are fish there too.
Swansea is 16km away and Bicheno is 26km away. Both towns have IGA supermarkets, bottle shops and restaurants, and plenty of history.
Freycinet National Park is 40 minutes, and makes for a great day trip, with beautiful walks, fantastic scenery, and of course iconic Wine Glass Bay.

A beautiful bush acreage located a five minute amble from Beaumaris Beach. The eastern side has a cleared area with little private nooks to tuck yourself into. Please note it is a bush block, not the Hilton ;) but it is peaceful and safe.
Ocean Drive is asphalt to the front gate, then it is firm, level, all weather access to the camping sites. There is a rough map of the property in the photos indicating the location of the various sites. I generally like to welcome people at thee gate if I am about but I'm not always here. Don't hesitate to contact me by phone or message.
There is clean and well maintained public toilets two hundred metres away.
Plenty of kindling is available and camp fires allowed when https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire-danger-rating/ is not a total ban. Keep under a metre, ensure the ground is cleared around and attend until extinguished.
Pets are welcome, especially dogs 👍
There are private walking trails on the property.
St Helens is under fifteen minutes away, Bay of Fires 25 minutes. Scamander 5 minutes. The famous St Helens bike trails are under ten minutes drive or accessible on your bike via the back trails. Ride direct to the trail heads! There is fantastic nine hole golf course at Scamander.

The beach is a 5 minute walk away. We have a deck positioned to pull up to next to the shed. Clifton Beach is a beachside community located on the south arm peninsula 25 minutes from Hobart city and is the closest surf beach to Hobart.
The south arm peninsula itself has many great walks and beautiful beaches. It is a great spot to base yourself to explore Hobart and local attractions. e.g Port Arthur 90 minutes.

Deep Glen is a beautiful, quiet 5 acre property at Eaglehawk Neck, gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, fishing, swimming, diving are all at your doorstep, not to mention the famous Three Capes Track and the Port Arthur Historic site just a short drive away. If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips
Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking.
As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs.
There are no facilities on the block apart from a long drop dunny (byo paper) and a small supply of non-potable water so you will need to be self-sufficient though there are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van.
We only make provision for two campsites so you'll never be crowded.

Welcome to Paradise Lagoon! Here you can stay 30 metres back from the foreshore of Pelican Bay. Unfortunately you cannot see the beautiful bay view from the campsite. You can simply walk 30 metres and take your chairs and esky and spend the day marveling at the views and bird life, or even grab the kayak and paddleboard for some healthy fun .
Pelican Bay is a saltwater tidal lagoon, it's very shallow water for a long way, then gets deep a fair way out. The water is too shallow for Boats , but there is a boat ramp nearby. Wineglass Bay is just up the road in Freycinet National Park.
We only welcome guests over the age of 50 who have a fully self-contained vehicle. There are no amenities as yet so you must BYO everything you need and leave no footprint.
Unfortunatley no grass sites only gravel and black / sandy sites available .

Access height has been raised to 3.7meters. Pine Ridge has been developed over the years to be a natural park land with a good variety of local vegetation including stands of mature trees. lower scrub has been removed for physical and viewing access and to keep the property more secure and manageable. The vegetation also provides significant protection on windy days compared to many other open places. Native animals and birdlife abound the location. There is a community pergola area beside the substantial water hole which has a small jetty allowing easy access for swimming. There is also a stone barbecue and fire pit area available on suitable weather conditions.
There are ocean views from the property's main road areas, which also provide a large area of flatish firm ground with large areas providing easy maneuverability and turning.
The property is 2-3km from the main highway turn off that leads to the Douglas Apsley National Park. The corner of the property is only 50 meters from the park edge, with the Parks main access several km further along Rosedale Rd. The turn off is only 2 km from the town edge. It is sealed road except for the last 100meters and in good condition.

Nigel was so accommodating, observant of weather and assisted with water and local advice. Sites were very well separated from each other unlike other hipcamps on the island. Great proximity to everything Bruny. Water avail, doggo friendly, we spent 8 nights and could easy have stayed for months. Weather was terrible and awesome so we experienced the site in both. Wow! What an absolute stunning place. I was lucky to have found this spot; whilst browsing for a quick, last minute camping trip. We stayed 2 nights but wished we’d booked more. We booked ‘teatree’ and had this site to ourselves. We had 2 swags, gazebo with hut, toilet tent, camp kitchen, fire etc and we could’ve had more for sure. The sites are flat and with the long grass between sites, makes it still private. The dogs LOVED free roaming and the kids could ride their bikes and explore safely. The bonus was it being such a short distance to Cole’s Bay!
Taj was awesome at answering my questions prior to booking. We will absolutely be back! Highly recommend!!

Grant was a wonderful friendly host. Very helpful, but also gave us our privacy.
Close to Bruny Island ferry for a day trip.

Where to go
North-East Tasmania
Start your East Coast road trip in the north, where spectacular views and wildlife sightings await at the Bay of Fires—there are even free camping spots to be found. To the north, the striking coastline of Mount William National Park is ablaze with wildflowers through spring and summer, and it’s the ideal time for snorkelling and scuba diving. Further south, St Helens and the Surf Coast is the place to surf, hike, and fish along the coast.
Freycinet
Three of the East Coast’s national parks are found along the southern stretch of coast, starting with the hugely popular Freycinet National Park. Hiking, sea kayaking, and snorkelling are fun ways to explore Wineglass Bay and the surrounding coastline, and the beach camping is second to none. Nearby, there’s forest hiking and camping at Douglas Apsley National Park and car-free camping near the painted cliffs of Maria Island National Park.
Tasman Peninsula
Dangling off Tasmania’s southeast corner, the Tasman Peninsula is dominated by towering sea cliffs. Explore the coastal hikes, hidden sea caves, and windswept beaches of the Tasman National Park, uncover Tasmania’s convict history at the Port Arthur Historic Site, or tackle some of the island’s most epic surf. You’ll find great camping in and around the national park or, for a more local experience, the peninsula is also peppered with Hipcamps.
