WildWing Retreat is a beautiful 25 acre bush block in Four Mile Creek, located within a 15 minute (1km) walk, to the local surf beach of Four Mile. The property has been created to host retreats centred around nature immersion, movement and connection (i.e yoga, bodywork, dance, meditation, mindfuness, embodiment practices etc) and in the 'off season' it's available to host hipcampers! The space has been designed to host large groups, so there are full facilities available to use, including 3 x compost toilets, a fully equipped communal kitchen with all plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, pots and pans, gas cookers and fresh running hot and cold water. There is also an undercover deck/hangout area, a shower block with 5 hot showers, and a wood-fired cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). There are walking tracks throughout the property, including a track that leads directly to the beach (15 min walk) and another to our on-site fresh water creek for plunging in! We are surrounded by native wildlife and the property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno and Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We only open up 5 sites at a time, to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a beautiful experience on the land. The toilet is a private eco-throne with a view to Bare Rock. It is composting and only a short walk from the cabin. We provide you with wood for the indoor wood stove, an esky, bed linen, towels, tea-towels, basic kitchenware, cooking basics and toilet paper. The kitchen sink and bath water comes from a spring fed dam, perfect for washing your dishes and bathing in. Please bring your own fresh drinking water. Please note this is rustic accommodation, the cabin doesn’t have 240v, only a solar powered charging port with USB-A/C inputs to recharge the camping lanterns and your devices. You may wish to bring head torches for night time reading and card games! There is no wifi available but there is strong mobile phone service. Fingal is fondly known by the locals as "the Valley", and hosts several coffee and food vans for travellers passing through. Fingal is located just 15 mins to local township St Marys, where you'll find IGA Supermarkets and the popular pub/restaurant St Marys Hotel. Our cosy private tiny house/shack. It is close to beaches and a lagoon. The Bay of Fires is 40min north and Wineglass Bay/Freycinet National Park 1hr south. Relax night and day in a fire pit lounge area crafted with dry stone (large soft cushions included) plus an outdoor fire bath. A small separate shed houses a flushing toilet and gas hot water shower. The block has mains power; solar power and tank water. The block is surrounded by local endemic shrubs, trees and ground covers. We provide firewood, linen for the comfortable double bed, condiments for the fully equipped kitchen that includes crockery, cutlery, a fridge, a gas cooker, air fryer, sandwich toaster, camp oven, water etc. Just bring your clothes and food. The block is in a quiet coastal hamlet (with gravel roads and no street lights) ideal for beach and lagoon activities (surfing, walking, paddling, bird watching). Our 2 person sit on kayak is at the tidal lagoon 5 min walk away. We have crafted this space over a number of years for personal use and now would like others to experience it. Located just a 20 minute drive from the Hobart CBD, this beautiful 0.67 hectare coastal bush property is set in a little valley right by Kingston Beach, Browns River and Tyndall Beach. It's just a short 5 minute stroll down the road to the beach, or up the road to the start of the Alum Cliffs Track. Activities you can enjoy here include birdwatching, bushwalking, swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, bike riding, dog walking. You'll be staying in a fairly new comfortable bedroom with ensuite bathroom tucked under my house. There's a double bed made up with fresh linen. You'll enjoy hot showers, a flushing toilet and almost complete privacy. There's mains water. With prior notice, you could use the washing machine inside the house and hang your clothes on the clothes line strung between trees. Parking for two cars and/or caravan/campervan is easy. A circular driveway surrounds the house with a driveway extension. I hope to build an outside kitchen at the nearby shed, but for now campers need to be self-contained for their cooking and washing up, or else take the short walk to Kingston Beach and the excellent cafes and restaurants there. Food scraps need to go in a compost bin on site. Visitors are welcome to enjoy a fire when conditions allow it. Longer pieces of firewood are provided free of charge and kindling can easily be collected from around. (I'd rather you didn't use the shorter pieces of cut firewood as they are for my wood heater). You could enjoy a wood fired bush bath for a small charge, conditions allowing, with advance notice. Early evening is the best time to enjoy a bush bath and star gazing with set up in the afternoon. Wildlife is abundant and includes birds, wallabies, possums, echidnas and bandicoots. You are welcome to bring your small dog, but please ensure it's under control at all times. Wildlife are at risk if your dog is a hunter and roams free. Tyndall Beach (the Kingston dog beach) down the road is where your furry friends can have a run. Walk them to the beach on a lead and let them off there. I have an older Jack Russell who is afraid of big dogs, sorry. I think this is the perfect place to experience a little bush luxury before beginning or ending your Tassie adventures. I look forward to meeting you!

Awesome hot showers and facilities, more geared towards tent camping as there is some Campervan spots but only 1 is private, the others are not as nice (in my opinion). Ebony was fantastic friendly and happy to help with any enquiries if needed, everything you need in the kitchen and communal areas if you don’t have it with you or are not in a self contained Campervan. Great spot to base yourself for adventures, firewood available as an extra, top end of price point over Xmas but hot showers at the end of the day is amazing. Easy directions provided to locate Hipcamp. THANKYOU Ebony!!!!!

I loved the Acomidation and it was such a beautiful spot! Very relaxing. The bath was so nice aswell, the best views! I feel like it was a bit unclean though, the dishes were not very clean (assuming from previous campers maybe) so we left ours rinsed as we think they need hot water for washing not just cold water.. there wasn’t much to use utensils wise, and we thought there was meant to be so we went without but really struggled, There wasn’t much instructions on things like the bath for example. You do not need a lot of wood and that’s for sure otherwise you can’t get in, it’s way to hot. Maybe something is needed for the bottom of the tub.. it seemed a bit un safe at times with embers flying around in very close to reach the Acomidation from the fire pit being so close.. including while starting the pot belly fire inside the room.. and the burner is so close to the wall of the Acomidation, we were super worried with where it was sat.. the one pot had black stuff all over it and constantly got all over our clothes and tea towels etc.. maybe it just needs a bit of time spent on it to make it that bit better.

We loved our visit to Jonathan’s Hipcamp. He was a fabulous host visiting daily offering to take kids on tractor, ATV rides, bringing carrots to feed the horse, offering tourist tips. Kids loved their time in the outside bath, building bike jumps, exploring the property. We loved the quiet location and would love to return some time. We share the camp with 2 families and it was a lovely atmosphere.

We really enjoyed the relaxed vibe at the tiny house. It was obvious that a lot of love and care went into making it a home. We instantly felt very relaxed and would have loved a rainy day excuse to stay in, listen to the CDs from the boombox, and draw/write/read. We did do a fair amount of that, but also explored the beach in Scamander and Falmouth and the mountain bike trails in St. Helens. Michael was very responsive and helpful with any questions or issues. We really enjoyed our stay.

Great spot and great host, Jonathan is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to Derby having lived there prior to the MTB boom. Nice and quiet, plenry of space, bonus we dropped back into the back of the property on the end of the Kingswall ride. So much better than being crammed in the town public sites. Short ride to the trail hub so no need to drive either.

We had the BEST time during our stay at Mike and Sheena’s boho retreat. It was cozy and comfortable with everything we needed for us to feel at home away from home. The area itself is exactly what we were hoping for: quiet and secluded with a beautiful beach that went on for miles without seeing another soul, but still only a fifteen minute drive from St Marys for any supplies needed. What made it even more special was being able to bring our fur babies along with us. We have two very happy (and tired!) doggies from a weekend full of beach days. We would love to stay here again one day, and have already recommended it to many of our friends.

We camped up on the highest campspot on the property. It is on a hill but we had no trouble with our 18ft van. Loved the outdoor bath. Johnothan came up and had a yarn. Great fellow and left us to enjoy. Rode our bikes to the Derby trails and came back to a lovley quiet camp at night.

I loved the well crafted shelters, each with beautiful features, made from the timber grown on-site and found materials. The bush setting was peaceful and restoring, and the short amble down to the beach was a delight. The plumbing seemed like a sculpture, and worked well, solar hot and fresh cold water. Danny welcomed us warmly and we felt at home and comfortable.

The Bohemian Beach retreat was just the cosiest place! We absolutely loved our time here - you can tell a lot of love has gone into this place over the years and it feels like home. The outdoor fire pit and bath were highlights. Note the toilet and shower are an outhouse and if its poor weather it can be a wet trip there and back. In saying that - not a negative for us.

Where to go

North-East Tasmania

Start your East Coast road trip in the north, where spectacular views and wildlife sightings await at the Bay of Fires—there are even free camping spots to be found. To the north, the striking coastline of Mount William National Park is ablaze with wildflowers through spring and summer, and it’s the ideal time for snorkelling and scuba diving. Further south, St Helens and the Surf Coast is the place to surf, hike, and fish along the coast.

Freycinet

Three of the East Coast’s national parks are found along the southern stretch of coast, starting with the hugely popular Freycinet National Park. Hiking, sea kayaking, and snorkelling are fun ways to explore Wineglass Bay and the surrounding coastline, and the beach camping is second to none. Nearby, there’s forest hiking and camping at Douglas Apsley National Park and car-free camping near the painted cliffs of Maria Island National Park.

Tasman Peninsula

Dangling off Tasmania’s southeast corner, the Tasman Peninsula is dominated by towering sea cliffs.
