The space has been designed to host large groups, so there are full facilities available to use, including 3 x compost toilets, a fully equipped communal kitchen with all plates, bowls, cups and cutlery, pots and pans, gas cookers and fresh running hot and cold water. There is also an undercover deck/hangout area, a shower block with 5 hot showers, and a wood-fired cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). There are walking tracks throughout the property, including a track that leads directly to the beach (15 min walk) and another to our on-site fresh water creek for plunging in! We are surrounded by native wildlife and the property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno and Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We only open up 5 sites at a time, to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a beautiful experience on the land. South of the Bay of Fires, North of Wineglass Bay. A beautiful bush acreage located a five minute amble from Beaumaris Beach. The eastern side has a cleared area with little private nooks to tuck yourself into. Please note it is a bush block, not the Hilton ;) but it is peaceful and safe. Ocean Drive is asphalt to the front gate, then it is firm, level, all weather access to the camping sites. There is a rough map of the property in the photos indicating the location of the various sites. I generally like to welcome people at thee gate if I am about but I'm not always here. Don't hesitate to contact me by phone or message. There is clean and well maintained public toilets two hundred metres away. Plenty of kindling is available and camp fires allowed when https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire-danger-rating/ is not a total ban. Keep under a metre, ensure the ground is cleared around and attend until extinguished. Pets are welcome, especially dogs 👍 There are private walking trails on the property. St Helens is under fifteen minutes away, Bay of Fires 25 minutes. Scamander 5 minutes. The famous St Helens bike trails are under ten minutes drive or accessible on your bike via the back trails. Ride direct to the trail heads! There is fantastic nine hole golf course at Scamander. Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

There is also an undercover deck/hangout area, a shower block with 5 hot showers, and a wood-fired cedar barrel hot tub (refer to the extras section for hot tub use!). There are walking tracks throughout the property, including a track that leads directly to the beach (15 min walk) and another to our on-site fresh water creek for plunging in! We are surrounded by native wildlife and the property blooms with native Kunzea bushes, wattles, native cherries and various varieties of eucalyptus. There is a beautiful large fresh water river and waterhole just down the road (15 minute walk, or 2 minute drive), and aside from the surf beach down the front, we are also only a 10-15 minute drive from a bunch of other beautiful and popular surf beaches on the east coast. The whole area is great for fishing, boating, surfing, bike riding, walking and short hikes. We are a 10 minute drive from Falmouth, a 25 minute drive from the St Helens mountain bike trails, a 30 minute drive from Bicheno and Douglas Apsley National Park, a 45 minute drive from the infamous Bay of Fires and an hours drive from the Freycinet National Park. We only open up 5 sites at a time, to ensure everyone has plenty of space and a beautiful experience on the land. The eastern side has a cleared area with little private nooks to tuck yourself into. Please note it is a bush block, not the Hilton ;) but it is peaceful and safe. Ocean Drive is asphalt to the front gate, then it is firm, level, all weather access to the camping sites. There is a rough map of the property in the photos indicating the location of the various sites. I generally like to welcome people at thee gate if I am about but I'm not always here. Don't hesitate to contact me by phone or message. There is clean and well maintained public toilets two hundred metres away. Plenty of kindling is available and camp fires allowed when https://www.fire.tas.gov.au/fire-danger-rating/ is not a total ban. Keep under a metre, ensure the ground is cleared around and attend until extinguished. Pets are welcome, especially dogs 👍 There are private walking trails on the property. St Helens is under fifteen minutes away, Bay of Fires 25 minutes. Scamander 5 minutes. The famous St Helens bike trails are under ten minutes drive or accessible on your bike via the back trails. Ride direct to the trail heads! There is fantastic nine hole golf course at Scamander. Our property runs beef and cultivates crops alongside the Ringarooma river, North East Tasmania. We often host mountain bike riders here to access the world-class trails at Derby. Nearby are many marked mountain trails, and numerous falls. Skiing is 1hr away in the winter. Our camping site is alongside cattle grazing paddocks and the Ringarooma river, and we offer one site only, to one group at a time, so it's yours exclusively. A toilet is available nearby. A gravel track descends to the river with a short steep bank preceding the flats. When the track reaches the river the camping site is just through the gate on the right. One gate and two wire gates may require opening on the way and these gates need to be closed again to prevent cattle from wandering. Electrical fencing is in use and alive - please be careful! Wood for your campfire is available to purchase, $15. I can supply fresh sourdough loaves $6 also fresh eggs $3perhalf doz, and fresh cows milk most of the year $5/2L. Fly fish for trout and cook over the coals for a treat. Welcome to bring your dog along, but please keep them under control.

We have been travelling Australia for 3 months now and this hipcamp is the best one we have been too. So much space, massive sites, water available for unpowered sites. Our kids had a great time and the pups loved it. Very good pricing and maintained really well. Thanks for having us.

Great camp. Really friendly hosts. The camp-site is only 15minutes further than staying at the showgrounds. We had the place to ourselves. Kids loved the trampoline. Huge, flat site and water to fill your tanks. Really easy to get into Hobart. Highly recommend!

Great place to stay! Big property and had our own private space away from the other staying in the campsite. Nigel was great giving tips and advice about the best spot to camp at his property and places to visit on the island. Highly recommend!

Great location private yet was packed most of the time. Taj was so accommodating and Acaica site was great. We had two campers trailers and swag at our max plus room for more. Water was only five minute drive the same as disposing of rubbish. Great location to just set up and explore the coast beaches, walks, boating and more. Thank you Taj and family for such a great stay and for brr e ing pet friendly, what I would want to say to someone wanting to stay book in advance and any questions just ask Taj

We had a lovely stay at Kathryn and Alex’s place. Their berry farm is immaculate, a true credit to them both. The site we stayed at was so private and quiet. It was very generous, with a beautiful hand sawn picnic table and fire pit with seating. The visiting pademelons kept us entertained and the beautiful fresh water stream sent us off into a deep sleep each night.

Where to go

North-East Tasmania

Start your East Coast road trip in the north, where spectacular views and wildlife sightings await at the Bay of Fires—there are even free camping spots to be found. To the north, the striking coastline of Mount William National Park is ablaze with wildflowers through spring and summer, and it’s the ideal time for snorkelling and scuba diving. Further south, St Helens and the Surf Coast is the place to surf, hike, and fish along the coast.

Freycinet

Three of the East Coast’s national parks are found along the southern stretch of coast, starting with the hugely popular Freycinet National Park. Hiking, sea kayaking, and snorkelling are fun ways to explore Wineglass Bay and the surrounding coastline, and the beach camping is second to none. Nearby, there’s forest hiking and camping at Douglas Apsley National Park and car-free camping near the painted cliffs of Maria Island National Park.

Tasman Peninsula

Dangling off Tasmania’s southeast corner, the Tasman Peninsula is dominated by towering sea cliffs. Explore the coastal hikes, hidden sea caves, and windswept beaches of the Tasman National Park, uncover Tasmania’s convict history at the Port Arthur Historic Site, or tackle some of the island’s most epic surf. You’ll find great camping in and around the national park or, for a more local experience, the peninsula is also peppered with Hipcamps.
