The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. Book your trip around something exciting, then retreat to solitude. The rules are simple come, clean go clean. You can send through a Queensland certified weed certificate for your vehicle not more than 24 hours old; or have a quick inspection before you arrive, at most you will have to do a 20 dollar car wash. Lantana, Parthenium and fire ants are not something to be taken lightly. Your host wants people to be able to camp like they have but, not at the expense of this special place; that is healthy, vibrant and in control of weed species related to this area and the grazing practices. You'll enjoy peace, nature, amazing views, stunning sunsets, big starry skies, misty valley mornings amidst lovely countryside, farmland and the Aussie bush. Each campsite has its own rock firepit, and firewood is available (quality split ironbark firewood available in 'extras'). Wildlife often seen on the property, and there's currently no livestock in the paddocks. Pet friendly, family friendly, a quiet retreat for couples / singles, or group bookings available. Old Peppertree campsite is an elevated campsite that has all weather access and is suitable for 2wd and 4wd vehicles and all RV's and tents. Bush Camp campsite is further down the back of the property, nearer the bush, downhill, and is suitable for 4wd / SUV vehicles and off-road / higher clearance RV's and tents. However access is fairly easy and this is only a recommendation. Coobindah is just under 2 hours from Brisbane and is located on the Great Dividing Range. It boasts crisp mountain air and glorious views from the hills. Nearby attractions: Lake Cooby (Cooby Dam) is just 3 mins down the road; fishing, kayaking, paddle boarding, bush walking, picnic area and playground. The renowned Meringandan Pub 5 mins. Highfields 8 mins for shops, cafes, restaurants; Chocolate Cottage, Tavern, Monty Brewery (pet friendly), Pioneer Village and Highfields Falls. Rosalie House winery, restaurant 10 mins. The private, 3 acre single booking, off grid (EV Charge) camp area is located on a large property, surrounded by private bushland and farm land. It is a working cattle property. (500 acres) The nearest residence is 1 km away as the crow flies. You will be completely alone with the stars the moon and the sky. You will have access to walk most of the cattle property at your leisure. 15 minutes drive from Kingaroy. Please respect fence lines and the cattle. The property is a semi arid grass land surrounded by Ironbark timberlands. You must adhere to fire ratings. We have easy, medium and black diamond camping sites available. One must do a easy before the other aspects of the property are available for camping. The easy campsite (pictured) can accept tents all season and camper trailers, RV's when it is in the dry season! The entry level campsite is called Dragons Lake. It is run by a water dragon that likes to see you and is keen to see you go. The sky's are patrolled by a resident pair of wedge tailed eagles, all the reptiles you imagine in this country appear and are happy to do their own thing. Local activities include Bacon Fest, Car racing, agricultural shows, music and of course peanuts. There are several hikes and mountain bike trails. Book your trip around something exciting, then retreat to solitude. The rules are simple come, clean go clean. You can send through a Queensland certified weed certificate for your vehicle not more than 24 hours old; or have a quick inspection before you arrive, at most you will have to do a 20 dollar car wash. Lantana, Parthenium and fire ants are not something to be taken lightly. Your host wants people to be able to camp like they have but, not at the expense of this special place; that is healthy, vibrant and in control of weed species related to this area and the grazing practices. Every site has access to water, swim in the dam NO SOAP IN THE DAM. The entry level site has access to water approximately 50m from the site and a dam. All other sites have access to dams for swimming and fresh water that is not potable. Bring your own fire pit and toilet, take what you bring, leave no trace. Hiking and mountain bikes only, (highly fragile soils). Limited selection of camping supplies for sale.

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend by the lake. Didn't see the local platypus family but the abundance of birdlife and endless tranquility made this campsite worth the effort to get there. An unexpected 6am storm on the last day put the camper trailer through its paces but it survived well. Laying in bed watching and listening to the storm rollover the lake was awesome. We loved it and the hosts were wonderful. Thanks Neil and Joss!!

We camped with a party of 5 caravans / camper trailers at the quiet end of the lake, farthest from reception. Enough room for an even larger group. We were only a 300 metre walk from the main swimming hole. With lake frontage, shaded camp sites. A great weekend even with rainy weather. Will definitely come back to Bushywood!

The property is a beautiful spot with some gorgeous views and wildlife. The swimming hole was a favourite as it was so much fun! The waterfall walk was very refreshing, it will look amazing when it is in flow. The doggies had the best time with plenty of space to run around. My group of 6 stayed at Big Fig which was a lovely spot with plenty of room. The bathroom was also rather pleasant with plenty of hot water. We would definitely come and stay again!

Lovely spot to camp. They found us a perfect spot for our tent to be flat and with a fire pit. With enough space for privacy but still close enough to everything we needed like the toilets and showers which were very well kept. The lake was great to cool off and overall a beautiful camp site. Had an absolute wonderful stay down by the lake at Tremayne. Fantastic hosts Neil & Joss, guide you to your campsite and swttle you in for your stay. Heading down to the lakeside is some steep downhillbsections and if your towing a van need to take some time to manuvre vehicle etc, but well worth the the stay if you have the skill. Thanks again guys, we'll be back maybe after our lap in 18mths. Cheers Darren & Julie
