I have access to the rail trail via private property, or otherwise you can utilise Staines Road to get into Benarkin State Forestry or the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. Dogs are also welcome who are well behaved and on a leash if others have horses with them. Please note that you MUST ensure your dog has tick prevention prior to arrival. Bookings require pre approval please. This is non negotiable to prepare for your stay. All welcome to visit and please enjoy a campsite that will only ever have 2 bookings at a time in the 1 acre camping area. Here at 'Waratan Park' in Oakey QLD, we offer a peaceful, animal friendly stay on our 120 acre property, away from the crowds, but close to town, and only a short drive to Toowoomba. We have a large grassed area for your van, very level, with plenty of space. Enjoy views of the animals from your camp chair. All campers must be self contained with their own toilet and shower, can empty grey water ONLY. There is a dump point less than 1km down the road. We have unpowered sites, along with two sites that have access to power and water. Important - We are a working farm, and have 6 farm dogs on site. Whilst we can accept bookings with pets, you MUST run this by us before making a booking. Any visiting pets must be kept on a lead at all times while on the property. Oakey is a small but great country town, approximately 30km west of Toowoomba. Some nearby attractions include an Australian Army Flying Museum, Oakey Historical Museum, and we're a short 20 minute drive up the road from the Jondaryan Woolshed. Local shops include an IGA, Foodworks, RSL, Tavern, 1 pub with great Friday night entertainment (no meals), bakery, cafe, kebab shop, takeaway, hospital and ambulance 24/7, chemists, hairdressers and local mechanics, Toyota dealership and several service stations, all in close proximity. Nice and peaceful. Great views. Directions to spot were clear. Fire pits to use. We would stay again. Had to use patience when leaving as cows where on both sides of gate trying to get in or out and wouldn't move off easy.The orchard had enough sun for solar and shade to cool off. Thanks

Great Hip camp, powered sites, awesome camp kitchen, showers & toilets. Lynn keeps this place so neat and tidy, lots of shady spaces and close to the rail trail. Close to the road can get a bit noisy at times but didn’t bother us and there is plenty of space away from that. down near the dam is lovely.
