The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. 1 night at TerraLyra Sanctuary Retreat

A pleasant overnight stop while making our way south to Brisbane. Our stopover was on a Monday with very few people on site, so plenty of places to choose from for us and our van. A 4WD to access the secluded sites would be recommended as it might be tricky getting out if you had any rain as the trek out is relatively steep, grassy but steep. We camped next to the dam and went to sleep with the sound of frogs chatting which is quite soothing and made for a good night. The camp ground is far enough off the “Bruce Hwy” which made for a quiet night and no street lighting is a bonus as well. Highly recommend this place and we will be back again.

We didn't make it to our camp site due to my car being not suitable. But we made it a couple of KM in and me and my daughters were stunned by the tranquillity of this beautiful property. The property is a beautiful spot with some gorgeous views and wildlife. The swimming hole was a favourite as it was so much fun! The waterfall walk was very refreshing, it will look amazing when it is in flow. The doggies had the best time with plenty of space to run around. My group of 6 stayed at Big Fig which was a lovely spot with plenty of room. The bathroom was also rather pleasant with plenty of hot water. We would definitely come and stay again!

5 Star camping ground!! Would definitely recommend to everyone, host came to welcome us as soon as we arrived. Plenty of activities to do there and room to create your own fun. Campsite spacing was really nice, not so close from other campers. Would definitely be back when given the chance!

Beautiful location. Jason has done a great job of setting the campgrounds up. Plenty of space between camp sites and the swimming spot was a real treat. Really glad we found this Hipcamp, and will definitely go back.

My man and I loved tent camping along the water. The sunset views and starry nights were to die for. So peaceful and the ladies who run the stay were absolutely wonderful. While packing up my car wouldn't start so they came down and fixed my car. Dogs were so cute and my puppy had an amazing time swimming in the dam. As a young couple with a dog, this place was perfect.

Very quiet lovely open rolling green fields, lots of flat areas, the dam was lovely and warm for swimming or kayaking and the river walk on the river side was very pretty. Internet service was very hit and miss couldn't monitor the storm activity

Private camping sites along the forest filled seasonal creek, makes for the ideal weekend escape. The best time to visit would be after the summer rain to enjoy the creek, though, there are some great walks to enjoy, including Wrattens Falls or the cave. The owners have done a great job on the property providing visitors a great outdoor experience.

This was our second time staying at Little Fig Flat. We love it here plenty of space, peaceful and Jason is an awesome host always improving the campsite. We really like that campsites are not crowded in and you have plenty of space available.
