Alex is a really is a really friendly host and very welcoming and accommodating. The communication and directions make Alex’s camp very easy to find. The dam is west to the campground with the range also in view making for a great spot for the evening sunset blended with a nice campfire.

We had a fantastic 2-night, 3-day stay at this peaceful property in Lowood, hosted by the wonderful Lynette and Lauren. This is the ideal spot for true off-grid camping. Important Note on Facilities: This is a primitive camp, meaning there are no shower or toilet facilities. Campers must be fully self-sufficient, but if you're prepared, the reward is pure quiet and space. What it lacks in amenities, it makes up for in space and charm. There is plenty of open land and the entire experience was incredibly relaxing. The check-in and check-out process was easy and seamless. The absolute highlight was the friendly resident horses! We highly recommend you pack carrots and apples to make some new friends. For restocking supplies like wood and ice, the town of Lowood is only a quick 5-minute drive away. Michaela's place is delighted with creativities. There are art installations, studios, and even karaoke bar with lots of custumes to choose. We enjoyed our camping time with doggos and horses. Besides, each camp ground is huge and far from eachother. We even had a dam view in the front of our camp ground! Michaela always responds messages instantly and helped us a lot. :)) Would definitely recommend to come!

Michaela’s land is peaceful, scenic, and full of charm—perfect for a relaxing getaway. What really stood out were the friendly farm animals, especially the pony, pigs, dogs and horses, which added a unique and fun experience. The property is well cared for, with plenty of open space. Michaela was a welcoming and thoughtful host, making sure we felt comfortable throughout our stay. If you enjoy nature, animals, and a quiet escape, this spot is definitely worth visiting!

We found this campsite during our trip from Japan, and it truly became one of the most unforgettable places of our lives. The sunset and scenery were absolutely beautiful, and our children were fascinated by the daily activities. Great spot, just out of Lowood. A gate from the property on to the rail trail was excellent for a bike ride. Great communication. Track in was a little rough but this was communicated well and ok with our set up.

We booked with another family and we had a blast. It was quiet, the water was perfect for the kids to play in and there was a kayak for a bit of fun. The kids loved the different animals visiting, or going to different parts of the property to visit for feeding times. We enjoyed having a short time away close to home.

Weekend Trip to Dragonfly Dam - Moogerah

Great spots for a quick getaway. When we arrived, the host welcomed us and gave a few helpful suggestions for nearby points of interest, but otherwise gave us our space. The location was quiet enough, being close to a road. Lovely view of the dam and nearby mountains. Was a peaceful spot to watch birds and dragonflies, and go to sleep to the sounds of frogs.

Geoffrey’s hospitality is truly unmatched — he went out of his way to help us with everything we needed (and even things we didn’t realise we needed, but absolutely did). The campsites are well maintained, secluded from others, and easily accessible. There’s heaps of timber available, plus plenty of space for big groups or families with kids. Sadly, they’ll be moving on soon, so we’ll definitely try to come back before you go! :D

We had such a wonderful stay at Rob’s place! From the moment we arrived, Rob made us feel welcome and at ease. He’s an amazing human being, very kind and easy-going. One of the highlights was definitely feeding the animals with Rob, which I highly recommend. It was such a unique and memorable experience. The facilities are excellent as well. The toilets were spotless, and the hot shower were perfect after a day outdoors. Everything was clean, well maintained, and clearly looked after with care. We left feeling refreshed, relaxed, and grateful for the experience. Thank you Rob for your hospitality. We’ll definitely be back!
