Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night. Swimming in the creek is not recommended. So please check by internal message before confirming your booking that way we can confirm a spot while discussing your needs to ensure you have a clear view of your camping area. Close to township of Malanda with tourist activities throughout the atherton tablelands. This area is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than Cairns and does not get the summer humidity. Firewood and fireplaces provided, any small change donations for firewood are not required but they are appreciated and helps us provide abundant firewood for your stay. Water available (filtered but recomended to be boiled or treated prior to drinking) Campers need to be self contained, no toilets on site. Please respect this clean, natural setting, remove all rubbish and no interfering with flora or fauna. Bookings are only for one camp group, max six or seven caravans, camper trailers or campsites to maintain space and atmosphere. Access is by well maintained gravel drive then grassed area. Wet wether events can affect the grassed area and may need to be considered for bookings.

Please respect this clean, natural setting, remove all rubbish and no interfering with flora or fauna. What a lovely spot! We were unfortunately there with the March flies ( November in the tropics!) but we lit a fire and they mostly left us alone to watch the birds. Theresa & Frank offered us the use of the swimming pool but it was cool enough at this altitude that we enjoyed a walk with our pooch and a glass of red by the fire.

We have had the privilege of experiencing this beautiful camp in Summer, Winter, and Spring, and each time it has revealed a new kind of magic. Picture this: You emerge from your camper shortly after sunrise to discover a pale mist curling through the trees, softening the edges of the waking rainforest; transforming your camp-site into a quiet dream. Dew-beaded spiderwebs cling to the trees, and glimmer across the sprawling green lawn like tiny gems as the first rays of sunlight filter through the fog. The intriguing call of the Wompoo Fruit Dove beckons you on a lazy stroll along the banks of the trickling stream. A flash of blue darts by you; the Azure Kingfisher is fishing for his morning meal. Movements in the tree just outside your camper door, the Olive backed Sunbirds are busily flitting from branch to branch. The world around you feels hushed and new-touched by the calm, lingering magic of dawn. For those of you that have visited before, there are some fun developments taking place at camp. I won't divulge too many secrets, you'll have to discover them for yourself. Hints: Where does that quirky creek crossing lead to? What exactly is a 'loo with a view' ? For those who haven't been, you can rest assured that Heidi and Mike are wonderful hosts that keep the property in mint condition, and are always looking for ways to improve your camp experience. What an amazing little hidden gem, the three campsites are so private, all on the creek and surrounded by nature. Right in the heart of the beautiful rainforest of far North Qld tablelands. So many birds, the weather is so much cooler than the coast and the hosts Alan and Sue are super friendly and make you feel at home on their gorgeous property. Great site - especially for children! Our preschool aged children enjoyed feeding the chickens and spotting for wildlife at night (though they were too loud to see much!) I was incredibly impressed that there were no mosquitos!!! Shame we only had one night - but it was worth it and the area surrounding is beautiful - stunning waterfalls, and they’re quiet with no other visitors first thing in the morning!

To be honest nothing stood out at 'Aloomba Homestead' Hipcamp, because it was simply amazingly magical all 'round, our type of Hipcamp. Mother Nature at her best, the birdlife was incredible, a very peaceful and calming location on the Mulgrave River within close proximity to Deeral boat ramp, where we launched our tinny and also topped up with water for our van. As for the hosts Margie & Richard, what a terrific down to earth couple, our kinda people, very genuine and open to a good old chin-wag. We hope they travel down our way to Cape Bridgewater in Victoria one day, so we can return their kindness. Top spot for our 10 day stay. 👌

We enjoyed our stay at Paradise Camps however our request to be as far away from other campers with close access to the creek was not ideal. Dee was very accommodating suggesting that once booked we could change our camp location once onsite. What we ended up with was a non powered campsite away from others but very close to the Bruce Highway, let’s say 150 or so metres or so. It wasn’t what you’d call Paradise and not only was the road noise quite loud there is also the main train line between Brisbane and Cairns and the local sugar cane rail line. The access to the creek was quite treacherous at best for over 60’s and when we went for a swim after setting up camp there was a large group of indigenous folk who were enjoying the swimming spot from access provided via a public road off the highway. They were fine but making plenty of noise, smoking cigarettes and playing loud music in what I thought was a private location and definitely not guests of Paradise Camps that I paid $60 a night for. The road noise was tolerable after dark and we couldn’t complain however the following day we elected to relocate further west away from the highway and although you can’t escape from the noise of the highway & trains completely it was much better. The creek near the camp kitchen is simply beautiful and the access via the concrete stairs makes it safe and easy for all levels of mobility. All in all it’s a nice spot but $60 a night for two people in an unpowered site is a bit rich.

A peaceful acre and a half block straight off the road, flat grassed area with fencing between camp area and Neighbours. Plenty of space to set up where you feel comfortable within the fence and surrounded by horses. 15km or 20 minutes from Cairns City Centre and 10 minutes from Coles or Woolies in either direction. (Please note Gordonvale Woolies is closed on Sundays, Mount Sheridan shopping centre has Kmart, Coles and Woolies). A cane train line runs across the front of the property so during cane season the trains come past a few times during the day and night. They can be noisy but are fairly quick. Fresh and crystal clear swimming hole/ creek at the end of the road if you continue west down Maitland Road. Please stay in the front block and before the horse stables. Now we've only just started with Hipcamp, we do have a lot to discover, happy to listen and learn. We do offer plenty of space and you will not be crowded out as we keep numbers very limited. No facilities, no toilets, showers, electricity, rubbish bins etc. We do ask that you respect this as you must be fully self contained. We do not consider, a bucket with a lid, to be self contained ok! Right now though in our top dam, we have a flock of White Egrets roosting at night, spectacular when they depart & return each day, however due to the number of these birds, hundreds if not more! they have fouled the water in the dam & it's a bit on the nose.

Our 20-acre exotic fruit farm backs onto World heritage rainforest and provides a relaxing base for which to explore the wet tropics south of Cairns. We have a beautiful freshwater swimming hole down the road, and also the Mulgrave River is very close if you want to do some fishing.The camping area is large, grassy and reasonably level, with space closer to the tree line, and space more out in the open. There is a firepit provided, and plenty of firewood around the place for you to help yourself to. We also welcome four-legged family members! We have had recent sightings of cassowary on our property so keep an eye out, you might just see one!We prefer self-contained campers, who have their own amenities, but we do have a toilet and shower up at the main house (about 50 metres away) you are welcome to use if needed. This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy. Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high.We grow exotic fruit on the property including limes, pomelos, mangosteens and more. When it's in season, you're welcome to sample some! Gordonvale is the nearest town, with a quiet historic charm, just 15 minutes drive away, while Cairns is around 25 minutes.

There is high tide boat ramp access and your choice of river front camping areas.
