Our 20-acre exotic fruit farm backs onto World heritage rainforest and provides a relaxing base for which to explore the wet tropics south of Cairns. We have a beautiful freshwater swimming hole down the road, and also the Mulgrave River is very close if you want to do some fishing. The camping area is large, grassy and reasonably level, with space closer to the tree line, and space more out in the open. There is a firepit provided, and plenty of firewood around the place for you to help yourself to. We also welcome four-legged family members!  We have had recent sightings of cassowary on our property so keep an eye out, you might just see one! We prefer self-contained campers, who have their own amenities, but we do have a toilet and shower up at the main house (about 50 metres away) you are welcome to use if needed. This is an unused bathroom downstairs so you will still have privacy.  Access into the property is not suitable for large motorhomes. Entry will be too small for vehicles approx 8.5 metres long and 3.5 metres high. This was definitely a favourite of ours the ease of getting there the proximity to cairns only being 20 mins the un powered sites were pick your own spot it was peaceful and tranquil the horses and chickens roaming freely made it feel like a farm stay and a big shout out to ROXY the kelpie you are a god send so beautiful always coming to say hello and have some play time loved every minute of this stay wish I had more time to stay here we will definitely be back

Beautiful and peaceful sanctuary tucked away 30 minutes from Cairns. Super friendly pets including dogs, chickens, and horses. The couple that maintain the grounds were super helpful and even providing an extension lead when our personal stopped working.

Absolutely lovely camp. Had the back corner of the lower orchard to ourselves backing onto the pristine rainforest beside a dry seasonal stream. Very quiet area which we enjoyed. Had a visit from the horses and the dog plus the rooster and his harem of hens, a bandicoot, a scrub turkey and bush hens and the butterflys and birds which were plenty. Hosts were great clearly explaining entry conditions and checking we were ok and even offering firewood for the cold nights. We were self contained but there was power offered and toilet and shower if requested up top at the house. Would like to stay again if we are ever doing a camping trip up this way with caravan. Positive experience for sure.

Lovely, simple space in the gardens around the family home. The hosts were very welcoming. The animals are friendly and sweet. We were there in winter so had the back space to ourselves which was nice and peaceful.

Pamona is a great little spot just outside of Cairns. Helen and her husband are extremely welcoming and nothing is too much trouble! Our 2x boys loved the menagerie of animals, including the horses, dogs and chooks.. They enjoyed exploring the property and feeding the horses. There were a few campers at the same time as us and there is plenty of room to share so you weren’t camping top of each other. They offer both powered and non-powered sites. Highly recommend for a quick get away if you live near by or even just a few nights when just passing through

We loved tent camping at pamona park. Chris and helen are very warm and welcoming even the dogs and the horses. It is very private and we really felt secure. We had a really relaxed weekend and we will definitely want to go back. Chris also gave us pomelos to take back home which is nice. Pomelos are really sweet too 👍

Horses Trashed our Campsite

The hosts are so sweet and helpful, and it’s a beautiful property in a serene and gorgeous area. That being said- our only problem was the horses, which I would kindly describe as “overly friendly.” The two horses are loose at all times, and completely trashed our campsite both nights. Tore open packaging and ate any food left out, chewed on all the cups and pans, ate multiple decks of cards and other paper products, ruined clothes, towels, and other camping gear, and even found their way into plastic bins and into an ajar car door to eat more food. We got up multiple times in the night to try to scare them away, but they just came back, even walking on top of one of our tents while someone was sleeping inside. This is obviously a huge safety hazard, as well as an inconvenience, as we spent a couple hours every day trying to clean up all the destruction. I would be worried about little kids walking around with giant horses loose who are difficult to deter. If the horses were penned up at night, that would make a huge positive difference.

This is a great place to stay if you are looking for a quiet get away. The hosts were super friendly and made me feel welcome. Helen even dropped off some eggs at my camp site in the morning for breakfast :)

This was our first time using Hipcamp. There were way too many mosquitoes to enjoy our time. It felt very crowded with the trees around. Not much clearing to let the breeze in. Very hot night and it rained which can't be helped but wasn't a pleasant night.

We loved staying at Helen's camp. It was so spacious and shady. We loved being able to take our dog and our baby to enjoy the open spaces.

It’s been a lovely stay!!! Beautiful property in the rainforest, with access to power, potable water, toilets and showers. Extremely clean. The hosts were welcoming kind and helpful as they also provided us with an extension to get some power. The animals are friendly and run freely around the property without disturbing.

This is an amazing camp site on a beautiful property. It was very easy to find as the driveway is well signed. The hosts are very friendly and acommodating. They also recommended us a swimming spot just 2 minutes drive from the campsite which was an amazing spot. We have 3 border collies that had a great time. There was a home made fire pit that we camped up next to so we could have a fire every night. Plenty of fire wood to collect from around the property. There were a couple of very friendly horses that wandered up to say hello most days. We will definitely be back soon!

Magic spot among the mountains, dog friendly and can have camp fires. basic facilities with access to shower and toilet under owners house. Was able to connect to 240v power.

This place was really nice. Very quiet and peaceful. Powered sites and water available. Chooks and horses come to say G’day. Little-to-no phone signal (0-1 bar Telstra 3G) so perfect for switching off and relaxing.
