Welcome to A lovely, secluded streamside campsite. With a private maintained streamside camping area of aprox 1 acre on a ten acre property, surrounded by rain forrest and farmland. Kids are welcome to join small farm activities, feeding chickens and cows, collecting eggs and harvesting fruit trees when fruit is available. Some very special wildlife for the quite observer including regular sitings of platypus and tree kangaroos. We also regularly see the Ulysses and cairns bird wing butterflies with glow bugs being fairly common in the warmer months. Close to township of Malanda with tourist activities throughout the atherton tablelands. This area is usually 5-10 degrees cooler than Cairns and does not get the summer humidity. Firewood and fireplaces provided, any small change donations for firewood are not required but they are appreciated and helps us provide abundant firewood for your stay. Water available (filtered but recomended to be boiled or treated prior to drinking) Campers need to be self contained, no toilets on site. Please respect this clean, natural setting, remove all rubbish and no interfering with flora or fauna. Bookings are only for one camp group, max six or seven caravans, camper trailers or campsites to maintain space and atmosphere. Access is by well maintained gravel drive then grassed area. The space at Malanda was beautifully maintained and very private. Gorgeous waterfall for a fresh water dip and so nice listening to the river in the evening and the kookaburra wakeup calls on the morning. Heaps of space for our group and so generous with the fire wood. 10/10!

Creek, rainforest and privacy

Such a gorgeous site, large expansive lawn (mowed and so tidy) alongside a creek. Some trees to sit under (I set up our hammock). A short walk through the rainforest to a waterfall, or swim in the creek by the site. Complete privacy. A short drive to the crater lakes, Yungaburra or Malanda. Wonderful hosts in Mike and Heidi! Will come back again 🙏

What a beautiful little slice of paradise! 🌿 We absolutely loved our stay here. The property is stunning, peaceful and feels like proper bush camping, with the added bonus of being able to spot some incredible wildlife. We were lucky enough to see tree kangaroos, platypus and plenty of different birds. The kids had an absolute ball swimming, exploring and keeping an eye out for wildlife. There was heaps of open, freshly mowed space for them to run around and kick the footy — and not a prickle in sight, which is a pretty big win when you’ve got kids! 😂 The hosts are genuinely good people. They give you the space to enjoy their beautiful piece of paradise but are always friendly, approachable and happy for a chat. And the waterfall… absolutely bloody magnificent! 💦 We feel very lucky to have been able to stay here. It’s the kind of place you don’t want to leave, and it will definitely be our first choice whenever we’re back in the area. Thanks again for having our family — we had an absolute ripper of a time! ❤️

We absolutely loved our 3 night stay in this magical place, such a beautiful campsite, it really did feel very secluded. We loved having the option of a fire at night and spotting platypus. Walk to the falls was a real treat too. Thank you so much Heidi and Mike for sharing your gorgeous property.

Bloody FANTASTIC. We are from Adelaide and it was one of the BEST places we've been. Such friendly people, animals, a beautiful creek right next to where our van was set up, where our Labrador swam and played. Next big holiday going back for sure. Our favourite hip camp!

We had a wonderful time here! Flushing toilet and manderine trees up the top of the hill. A large grassy area to camp to yourself. It was freshly mowed, came with a fire pit and access to firewood for a donation. I wish we had more cash on us (it would be good if you had the option to add a firewood payment when you book like other hipcamps). We went for a walk along the river and found a wonderful waterfall to ourselves!! This is a must visit.

What a gem! Do yourselves a favour and stop in here, it was amazing! We walked through the track Mike told us about, found the platypus and then further on we found the gorgeous waterfall! And you have all this to yourself, one of the best campsites we’ve stayed in on our five month road trip so far!

Such a beautiful and secluded spot, so close to Cairns! Heidi and Mike were very welcoming and generous with their delicious mandarins. A beautiful waterfall, a creek to swim, and a large grassy area perfect for kids and dogs. We will most certainly be back! Thanks so much :)

A beautiful secluded spot near the creek. Some great hikes nearby (Windin falls!!). Unfortunately it rained none stop, we would love to come back in warmer and dryer conditions!

We had a wonderful stay at Heidi's campsite. Heidi was incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel at home from the moment we arrived. The campsite was spacious, peaceful, and well maintained, with plenty of firewood available, which made our evenings around the campfire even more enjoyable. We also loved the beautiful bush walk leading to a lovely little waterfall—it was a great bonus to our stay. We highly recommend this campsite to anyone looking for a relaxing nature getaway, and we would happily stay here again.

Best hosts ever! Prompt replies to requests, offered early arrival, guided us to our site - THIS is magic & beautiful, so serene, stunning nature, we listened to the creek, the birds. We appreciated the free bag of delicious mandarins and bananas. The fire pit and provided fire wood was perfect. - Thank you to our hosts, we will be definitely back

I recently spent a couple of days camping at Malanda Stream Private Camping and had a wonderful experience. On arrival, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly family who own the property. They generously gave me a bag of fresh fruit grown on the farm. The mandarins were so juicy. I had the entire camping area to myself, making it a peaceful and relaxing getaway. Falling asleep to the soothing sound of the stream and enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings was exactly what I was looking for. There is also a lovely walk to a nearby waterfall that is well worth exploring. If you’re looking for a quiet, scenic camping spot with genuine country hospitality, I highly recommend Malanda Stream Private Camping.

They only allow 1 lot of campers (or groups if you want to camp with friends) at once so is nice and private. Large++, grassy site next to a lovely creek with a waterfall. Down hill from hosts house so you wouldn't know there is anyone else around. Resident platypus, but we didn't sight him/her during our stay. Lovely hosts who delivered free home grown mandarins and bananas on arrival. Firewood for a gold donation. Pet friendly. Feels like you're out in the middle of nowhere but it's not far town. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

The place was amazing, nice and cool, with fantastic hosts who made us feel very welcome. The property was well maintained, clean, and clearly looked after with great care. We enjoyed our stay, and the kids had a great time playing spotlight and kicking the footy around. The water was beautiful and very refreshing, and having fire pits supplied was a great touch that made the evenings even more enjoyable. It was a perfect place for the whole family to relax and have fun. We would definitely recommend this place to others and would happily stay here again in the future.

Secluded camping with dogs. Amazing

So wonderful to have this space for ourselves off grid. Our dogs loved being offlead and gave them more practice for recall. Kept them on lead at night as the strange wildlife sounds were new to them. They had fun swimming in the stream. And we could do nothing but chill out, make a damper and relax and enjoy the temperature drop with no air con or fans needed. A little sanctuary with well kept flat grass. We didnt see the platypus but probably just as well it stayed hidden this time.

Great spot to camp, lovely spacious grassy area with lots of shady trees and the creek nearby. Very quiet and relaxing place with plenty of room for everyone to run around, and it was great to have the place to ourselves. We would stay again, especially if the weather is fine and sunny!

Great Hipcamp! The big grass flat camping area down by the creek is just beautiful. Unfortunately we chose a rainy weekend however the hosts were extremely accomodating doing what they could to help keep us comfortable. Lots of firewood around, a flushing toilet and shower was a luxury. We will most definitely be back to make the most of this camp when the sun is shining!
