We are located just 35 mins from Caloundra and 45 from Maroochydore. We are close to Australia Zoo, Ewen Maddock Dam, Maleny and Glasshouse Mountains. Enjoy mountain walks and cycling.

From the moment you arrive, the pace shifts. The caravan is stationary and fully prepared, with beds made, spaces styled, and the outdoor area ready to enjoy. There’s nothing to organize or set up, and no need to bring a caravan or camping gear—everything you need for a comfortable stay is already in place, allowing you to settle in immediately.
Much of the experience unfolds outdoors. Spend slow mornings by the pool, long afternoons stretched out on sun loungers, or quiet evenings gathered around the firepit as the light fades and the air cools. The deck and surrounding spaces invite you to linger—to read, talk, nap, or simply sit and take in the stillness. Cooroy Caravan Park was very quiet and peaceful, and our dog loved walking up the street (which has stunning mountain views) and around the lake. Kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities were handy.

Enjoyed our stay at the Bamboozle campsite. Lovely weather and green scenic spot with easy access to the Mary river. Our two dogs had a great time off leash. Plenty of shade and only a short 5 minute drive into Kenilworth. Would stay here again.

Camped in the flat hill section and only had to share with 2 other groups so nice and quiet. 2 sets of toilets and showers on the property which were always clean and tidy.
Only mild complaint would be the grass at the site and the path to the toilet were slightly overgrown.

Incredible spot! We couldn’t be happier with our stay at the Happy Hut. Owners were so accomodating and kind. We will DEFINITELY be back! Facilities are great! Indoor shower plus an outdoor shower and bathtub which was awesome!

We had an amazing stay at this property and would highly recommend it. The owners were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and informative from the start. You get the entire site to yourself, with no need to share the space with anyone other than those travelling with you, which made the stay feel very special. You can tell the owners have put a lot of thought and effort into the space.
The property is absolutely picturesque and stunning—very private and secluded, yet still felt safe and peaceful. Having access to a toilet and shower was perfect, giving us the comfort of modern amenities while still enjoying the outdoors.
Hearing the kookaburras at dusk was an absolute highlight and really added to the magic of the experience. We would definitely stay again

A Lovely little park . We chose the garden site , backing onto a little creek with grass and shade trees - cool for our dog, and a decent space between neighbours. The little pool was a godsend for our grandson.

We had such a lovely stay here. The place was peaceful, quiet, and very private. The hosts respected our space and never interrupted us, but when we went to see them they were incredibly friendly, relaxed, and welcoming. We had a really fun and memorable time. Looking forward to coming back next time!

We had the absolute best stay at Kookaburra Park! The camp sites are spread out so you don’t feel on top of other campers. The animal experiences are great and not only for kids!! And it’s dog friendly! Shout out to Steve and Oakley who are great hosts and their love for the land and the animals shows. Would definitely return!

Where to go
Sunshine Coast
North of Sandstone Point, escape to the Beerburrum and Beerwah State Forests to hike bushland trails with views of the Glass House Mountains. Further north, the beaches of the Sunshine Coast are among Queensland’s most popular. Hit the beach at Caloundra, Noosa Heads, or Rainbow Beach, and don’t miss top attractions, including the Eumundi Markets and Australia Zoo.
Moreton Bay
Follow the coastal road south of Sandstone Point through Deception Bay and Beachmere for a scenic road trip. The beach resorts of Scarborough and Redcliffe are ideal for exploring the bay—go paddleboarding, take a whale-watching cruise around the islands, or follow the Clontarf-Redcliffe coastal walk. Ferries for Moreton Island leave from Brisbane, where you can spend the day beach hopping or snorkelling the Tangalooma Wrecks.
Around Lake Wivenhoe
Campers will find plenty of options around Lake Wivenhoe and neighbouring Lake Atkinson, just under two hours’ drive west of Sandstone Point. Swim, snorkel, and fish at the beaches, explore the lake by boat or kayak, or cycle the waterfront trails. Nearby, D'Aguilar National Park has a network of hiking trails and remote bush camping.
When to go
The sun shines year-round in Sandstone Point, and beachgoers can swim and surf right through autumn. Summer (December through January) is peak season, and the small town fills up with holidaymakers, so book campsites well in advance. Daytime temperatures average 20°C in winter, and off-season camping often means lower prices too. Visit between May and September for a chance to spot migrating humpback whales along the coast.
Know before you go
- There is a supermarket and a few shops in Sandstone Point, but for camping gear or to stock up on supplies, head to Caboolture, a 20-minute drive away.
- Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations in advance.
- If you plan to drive on the beaches and trails of Bribie Island, you’ll need a high-clearance 4WD.
