Hold it Flats is a 120 acre property that borders the beautiful O'Connell River that has water all year round. Take a walk around the property to check out some of the creatures that have been built out of scrap metal and bush bars that have been built all around the property.
There is nice shady trees, green grass and flat camping sites right beside the river with hot showers and flushing toilets. There is plenty of room and some great tracks for the kids and the big kids to ride their push bikes on. The swimming hole is about 2 meters deep and has big shady trees on the edge. There is also enough room for kids to bring their kayaks and have a paddle along the river.
We have some hiking tracks up around the hills of our property that have amazing views of the area.
All campsites can be provided with their own fire pit. You just pick your spot and we will bring a portable fire pit to you. Fire wood can be purchased at the property. All rubbish must be taken when you, there are no rubbish bins provided.

On arrival, powered sites, please phone our on-site caretaker Dylan 0488 611 706, and he can assist you to find a spot that suits you and your group. Unpowered sites can choose anywhere suitable for them.
We do have internet reception. Occasionally reception can be weak depending on what the network is doing. Generally, it is not a problem.
Bring Mosquito/sandfly spray especially if camping by the lake.
Campfires allowed. Wood for sale, $15 cash per milk crate, from camp kitchen. Please be honest and place cash in the "Honesty Box" and return crates for refilling.
Fire rings are available at the sites. Please leave them where they are as moving them is destroying the surrounding areas. Thankyou.

Operating for over 40 years, this bush camp and rainforest retreat is often described as one of Australia’s most unique stays — and it really does feel that way. Four clear creeks flow all year into an absolutely stunning swimming hole, the largest and deepest in Finch Hatton Gorge.
The camp facilities are off-grid but offer powered sites. Site 1 right down on the creek large grass flat space big enough for two families to set up camp. The creek runs around the outside so there are a number of viewing points to see the wildlife mentioned above. A set of solar lights hang over the firepit area allowing for more light while cooking on our wonderful swinging hotplate BBQ.
Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night.
Swimming in the creek is not recommended.
So please check by internal message before confirming your booking that way we can confirm a spot while discussing your needs to ensure you have a clear view of your camping area.
Onsite we have our shared outhouse porta toilet which is positioned in the middle of both camping areas for everyone's convenience.

Operating for over 40 years, this bush camp and rainforest retreat is often described as one of Australia’s most unique stays — and it really does feel that way. Four clear creeks flow all year into an absolutely stunning swimming hole, the largest and deepest in Finch Hatton Gorge.
The camp facilities are off-grid but offer powered sites. It's truly a very private and relaxing spot to chill out and enjoy camping for a few days or whatever suits your needs while passing the area. Plenty of fantastic swimming holes nearby including Josephine falls and Babinda boulders very popular spots for tourist and the locals.
Site 1 right down on the creek large grass flat space big enough for two families to set up camp. The creek runs around the outside so there are a number of viewing points to see the wildlife mentioned above. A set of solar lights hang over the firepit area allowing for more light while cooking on our wonderful swinging hotplate BBQ.
Site 2 Our newer spot work in progress not so ideal for camper trailers. your situated under our tree line away from the main creek. A smaller paver firepit, plenty fine for sitting around an open fire while watching the stars at night.
Swimming in the creek is not recommended.
So please check by internal message before confirming your booking that way we can confirm a spot while discussing your needs to ensure you have a clear view of your camping area.
Onsite we have our shared outhouse porta toilet which is positioned in the middle of both camping areas for everyone's convenience.

Loved our stay here so much that we extended another day. There is so much to see in the region. The property itself has the most beautiful creek cascading through the property the walk is beautiful through the rainforest along the old tram track highly recommend. Another extra bonus is they have a food fan at the top of the property that's open from 6 am in the morning till 2 o'clock in the afternoon seven days a week certainly makes life easy when having to get off for an early start you can grab yourself a coffee and a bacon egg burger and off you go
