The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal. “We have been blessed beyond measure with a small slice of God’s wonderful creation that we would love to share with you.”

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Large groups are welcome. There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Creekside Camp (our main camping area) is relatively flat, well drained sites along a creek that usually runs. This area offers multiple composting toilets and wood powered hot water bush shower and outdoor bath. There is also a large permanent deep waterhole a short distance from this camping area. We have temporarily paused out Hill camp sites, due to continuing property maintenance and improvements. The Hilltop on our place is a lovely spot to watch the sunset with a glass of your favorite beverage, and even if you are camped at Creekside, you are welcome to walk or drive up to hilltop. Just remember we are a working property, so leave gates as you find them. Our property is an easy drive from wineries, large dams, Bunya Mountains, art galleries, state forests, mountain bike tracks, and scenic Kingaroy. Fresh farm eggs can be bought if available at the time. This farm has been used as a working farm for around 40 years. This area is where the government planned a dam so generally we have water in the creeks. Most of the camp sites border the creek and all are designed to take caravans. The house was the original Amamoor Head Ranger, Forestry division, home which was cut in two and relocated from town up to the top of our hill. From here during the bush fire season you can see fires from Widgee, Kilcoy or the Sunshine Coast. We run on solar and rain water for everything in the house and creek or dam water for our orchards and gardens. We run a variety of animals and several small orchards as well. Our creek runs into another near this causeway which leads to lots of water in a short time where it sounds like you are living on a beach. Always check with us beforehand if there has been heavy rain and there are several creeks in this area which leads to a rapid build up of water in a short time over many of the causeways out here. When there is water around, the creek will have lots of little fish and a large variety of frogs, some very weird looking ones to study. While there are many animals on the farm, there are also wild animals who use it as their home and refuge so your pets must be kept safe with you at night. Swimming pool on the farm can be used if requested through booking.

On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset. We are a busy working property and horse training facility. Our business consists of backgrounding cattle, growing and irrigating of cattle feed and lucerne, as well as making hay. Stirling’s Crossing is situated in the Mary Valley on a lush 150 acre Equestrian property, which is bordered by the Yabba Creek and the Imbil State Forest. Our spacious level sites are surrounded by lush paddocks and beautiful scenery. Large drive-thru sites perfect for buses and big rigs, there’s plenty of room to relax and enjoy the peaceful farm setting. Guests can also bring their horses to Stirlings Crossing as Imbil State forest is perfect for horse back trail riding. Horse yards can be set up on request. The Tom Quilty has been held here twice before and will be held here again in 2026. Other endurance events are also held here during the year. There is an extra $10 charge per horse per night. Unfortunately there are no horses available here to hire. It is just over 100km north of Brisbane. The town of Imbil is only 6km away and has a recently opened IGA with all the supplies you need. There is also a bakery, 2 coffee shops, a pub with great meals, and a well equipped petrol station. There are markets every Sunday in the Main Street. Borumba Dam is 4.5kms up the road. It is perfect for boating enthusiasts who want to fish or do various water sports. The property has a large modern ammenities block. * Ladies toilet and shower amenities x 5 * Mens toilet and shower amenities x 4 * Disabled/Family bathroom x 2 There are limited powered sites available on request. There is access to the Yabba Creek for kayaking, swimming and fishing. You can also access the Imbil State forest either by 4wd, trail bike or mountain bike. This is a breeding and training horse facility so could guests please stay away from fenced off paddocks and the large horse complex. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Fresh farm eggs can be bought if available at the time. This farm has been used as a working farm for around 40 years. This area is where the government planned a dam so generally we have water in the creeks. Most of the camp sites border the creek and all are designed to take caravans. The house was the original Amamoor Head Ranger, Forestry division, home which was cut in two and relocated from town up to the top of our hill. From here during the bush fire season you can see fires from Widgee, Kilcoy or the Sunshine Coast. We run on solar and rain water for everything in the house and creek or dam water for our orchards and gardens. We run a variety of animals and several small orchards as well. Our creek runs into another near this causeway which leads to lots of water in a short time where it sounds like you are living on a beach. Always check with us beforehand if there has been heavy rain and there are several creeks in this area which leads to a rapid build up of water in a short time over many of the causeways out here. When there is water around, the creek will have lots of little fish and a large variety of frogs, some very weird looking ones to study. While there are many animals on the farm, there are also wild animals who use it as their home and refuge so your pets must be kept safe with you at night. Swimming pool on the farm can be used if requested through booking.

On the website a quote states, “In the late 1980’s, fossils found near Boat Mountain just outside Murgon in Southern Queensland rocked the palaeontology world. 15 new fossil species discovered here were found to be 55 million years old, predating any other Eocene period fossils found in Australia by 20 million years.” Suited to all, make a day of it and visit 55 Million Years Ago in the morning, enjoy lunch at a local winery before heading to Boat Mountain to see where they found the fossils and enjoy the sunset. We are a busy working property and horse training facility. Our business consists of backgrounding cattle, growing and irrigating of cattle feed and lucerne, as well as making hay. Such a lovely peaceful place to stay for a couple of nights. Loved the outdoor bath to cool down in with a cold beer in the afternoon! The creek was a bit high and muddy due to the rain when we first got there so didn’t swim but loved how the hosts had set up chairs and swing seats for those hot summer days of swimming.

We had a great camp setup at Pilgrims Rest! They aren’t kidding when they say 4x4 only. It was our first experience towing our van in these conditions: steep, rocky and creek crossings. (We nailed it). Got in and out of camp no issues even though it was a little tight. Excellent creek for the kids to explore right in eye sight of camp. A few cars came by but nothing that was disturbing. Had some visitors (cows and horses). Quiet and remote. No phone service. Star-link worked until the weather kicked off. We had a deluge in the afternoon and overnight. Anita came down in the morning to check the creek crossings on our departure day. Advised us to head off as soon as possible due to the possibility of being flooded in. Great hosts. Good communication and excellent directions given. If we are in the area again we would visit again.

Our family had such a wonderful weekend away at Anita’s beautiful property. It was so peaceful, we explored the area on foot, along the creek and also in our 4WD up to a lookout high on the ridge. The horses visited us at our cabin several times, which was a highlight. The cabin was so private we felt like we had the property to ourselves. Definitely need a 4WD! And the drive to Anita’s property is so beautiful too.

10 out of 10 for me! We camped at pilgrims rest and were the only people there. Right beside the freshwater Creek. Not much water in the creek ATM but holes deep enough to dip in. Could hear the water running constantly. It was exactly what I wanted. Cows and horses grazing on the property

We had an amazing 3 nights. We were lucky to see a koala on the day of our arrival which was right next to our camp site. We had frequent visits from the 2 horses, kangaroos and multiple species of bird life. It was so relaxing, we didn’t want to leave. We also caught plenty of blue claw which were yummy. We would highly recommend this stay. It was also close to town if the need to purchase anything you had forgotten to bring, but still have the feel you were remote.

The property is a beautiful spot with some gorgeous views and wildlife. The swimming hole was a favourite as it was so much fun! The waterfall walk was very refreshing, it will look amazing when it is in flow. The doggies had the best time with plenty of space to run around. My group of 6 stayed at Big Fig which was a lovely spot with plenty of room. The bathroom was also rather pleasant with plenty of hot water. We would definitely come and stay again!

Please message me prior to booking as we don't live here, to make sure that we have vacancies. Also if you are making a booking for more than five people, you'll need to do two bookings, so that we don't end up overcrowded. Thank you. Self sufficient campers are preferred. If you are looking to get away, put your feet up, switch off and recharge, then this is your perfect spot to enjoy the serenity of farm life with the added mountain views. We have potable bore water, electricity connection, picnic table and bench and firepit. We have two powered caravan sites that can also double up as tent sites. Ideally you should be self sufficient. Our bore has a solar pump that is rigged up to the water tank at the camp kitchen. Please turn the tap off once you have finished filling up your containers or caravan tanks. Bore water is potable, so can be used for cooking, cleaning, pets, etc. Any cooking implements and tools that you might need during your stay can be provided at request. Dogs are welcome, just please be mindful of our free ranging chickens, which are generally located at the top of the farm, near the big new shed. We have a calf and mini goats that you are welcome to help us feed. We are also looking at providing yoga, tai chi and meditation classes in the near future and are also setting up more sites at the back of the property as well as providing access to the creek in the summer. Please ensure that you are mindful of our neighbours, no loud noises between 9pm and 7am and kindly clean up after yourselves and take your rubbish with you, as we don't have garbage collection at the property. Nanango has a lovely vibe. It's Queensland's oldest and friendliest town. There are great playgrounds, swimming pool and cart racing in town, which is only about 10 minutes away from the farm. Kingaroy is about half an hour away. There is a great off roading spot in the forest that is literally up the road from us. According to previous campers it's perfect for beginners. The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. 4WD Recommended - dirt/gravel road and two creek crossings (through the creek bed) to get here. We have a whole beautiful valley with crystal clear spring-fed creeks, patches of rain forest and hillsides covered in grass-trees backing onto Wrattens State Forest. There's 1,375 acres of land - the boundaries of our property are the ridges of the mountains that encircle us, and many rare species abound here. This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here. No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Our accommodation is ideal for those wanting to escape the hussle and bussle of city living, for families (especially those with small children who'd love to spend time with farm animals), romantic weekend getaways, groups or clubs (including business and family/friends) and those simply passing through the area. And of course, we're pet friendly! We offer a large Queenslander home and 4 cottages, all built with comfort and convenience in mind. Our farm is home to a wide variety of friendly animals. There are goats, alpacas, chooks, sheep, miniature horses, guinea pigs, birds, peacocks, dogs, cats, cows, turkeys and ducks! You're able to join us in feeding the animals at approximately 8am and 4pm; this is a particularly special experience for children of all ages! You're also welcome to take part in other farm activities when they occur, including collecting chicken eggs in the afternoon!

Our property is located on the site of the First Kilkivan Township and was home to a gold rush in 1868 where a 73 oz nugget was discovered. Guests will have access to a portable toilet and fire pit throughout their stay. Gold is still found in and around the creek with fossicking permitted at an extra daily rate of $25 per person. As this is private property we require that all the QLD Fossicking Act rules and regulations are followed this includes having your own permit which must be supplied before fossicking is permitted. These rules include no machinery or pump operated sluices such as high banking sluices. Detectors are welcome and some great finds have been found with them including gold and coins from the 1860’s. Large groups are welcome. There are many great shaded camping spots along the creek or a large open area of about 50 acres for larger groups. There is also a year round swimming hole fed by a solar bore on the property for anyone wanting to cool down. Kids under 12 are free but if fossicking must be covered by a permit. Pets are welcome.
