Lake Moogerah is well known for its Australian Bass and Yellowbelly fishing, while our onsite bushwalk leads towards Striker Point and the gorge waterfall, offering spectacular scenery along the way.
For those wanting to further explore the region, Spicers Gap National Park is only a short drive away and offers scenic walking tracks and breathtaking views over the Fassifern Valley and surrounding landscapes.
While we do not currently have a boat ramp onsite, groups bringing their own boats can launch at the nearby public boat ramp and utilise the sheltered bay in front of the retreat.
Important Information About Our Retreat
Moogerah Lakeside Bush Retreat is not a tourist park or standalone transit campground.
Accommodation is available in connection with participation in educational, recreational or nature-based programmes and activities offered at our retreat, rather than as unrestricted drive-in accommodation.
All groups wishing to stay at the retreat are required to participate in an educational or recreational programme, with their chosen activities confirmed as part of the booking process and introduced by our onsite caretaker upon arrival.
Our programmes cater for all ages, abilities and experience levels, ranging from simple, self-guided outdoor activities for families and small groups through to fully guided, structured and tailored experiences.
Activities may include fishing, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, bushwalking, stargazing, archery, bush cooking, outdoor survival skills, wildlife observation, campcraft and other nature-based learning and recreational experiences.
Our complimentary Introduction to Outdoor Education & Recreation programme is particularly suited to families, beginners and small groups. It encourages participants to explore, learn and connect with nature through a selection of practical outdoor activities undertaken at their own pace.
Many of our introductory and self-guided programmes are available at no additional cost when participants provide their own equipment, while equipment hire and more structured or guided experiences may attract additional fees.
Programmes can be tailored to suit the interests, abilities and desired outcomes of each group, whether you're planning a school camp, family gathering or reunion, youth programme, workplace team-building retreat, Scouts or Guides activity, sporting group retreat or other organised group experience.
We can cater for groups of varying sizes, up to our approved site capacity of 100 people.

Riverdell is 166 acres located on the eastern side of the Blackall Range extending down to the Mooloolah River headwaters. Escape off grid to enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the cattle grazing in the paddocks, spot the native birdlife or cuddle up by the fire in your own secluded paradise.
Sunrises are spectacular while sunsets by open campfire are also a highlight of the Riverdell experience. Take a short walk up the creek branching west of the Mooloolah River to see some scenic rockpools and waterfalls in the cool of the rainforest canopy. Walking boots/shoes are highly recommended.
There is plenty to do and see in the area including exploring nearby Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, Gardeners Falls, Kondalilla National Park, Australia Zoo, indulge in a tasting at the Barrel at Clouds Vineyard opposite the front gate, stroll through Maleny Botanic Gardens & Bird World or take a short drive to some of Australia’s most beautiful beaches.
Access during daylight hours via 4WD ONLY with AT or MT off-road Tyres, RT Tyres are not permitted due to the steepness of the tracks. Off-road camper trailers are suitable (max weight 1500kg and max length 5m restrictions apply). There are Portaloos located at or near all campsites.
Caravans or motor homes are not permitted due to the steep terrain. Riverdell is dog friendly, off leash if trained, and recommend tick treatment before arrival. For safety, no arrivals after dark unless arranged prior.

We are 10km north of the town of Crows Nest on the Great Dividing Range. 50 minutes from Toowoomba and 2 hours from Brisbane.
The hill on the property (Flat Top) is one of the highest points in the area at 700m altitude.
From the hilltop, you can enjoy 360-degree views of the surrounding area, with views across the Esk Valley towards the Sunshine Coast and sunsets over the hills surrounding Crows Nest.
There are 3 separate campsites on the hilltop, and another site further down the hill alongside the main driveway.
It is very quiet and peaceful, yet only a 10-minute drive to Crows Nest.
Enjoy the spring fed dam in the warmer months. 🏊♂️

How to get to us? We have two ways in .
Option 1:
Via Flagstone onto Bushman Drive – then into Wyatt road follow to the end and turn right onto undullah road follow for 5 ks .
we approximately 14 km from the Flagstone Shopping Centre.
Please note: 10 km of this route is gravel road. 4x4 vehicle access is recommended.
Option 2:
From the Centenary Freeway roundabout, at ripley head 21 km along Ripley Road, which continues and changes name to Undullah Road.
This route is 4x4 access is recommended with some narrow bends – please drive to conditions. We do have 2 wheel drives make the journey !

This is a dog and horse friendly property but no pets allowed in the cabin. There is paralysis tick in this region - so we'd recommend treating any animal before you come and frequent checks while you're here.
No mobile phone coverage at the cabin, but there is a hill you can drive (or walk) up on the property to get phone signal if needed and we have a landline phone in our house which can be used in emergencies.

Stargazers is an up-cycled tiny home, made out of a shipping container, which provides a pet friendly (horse and dog) private glamping experience.
The property has 40 acres, with a main house approximately 500m away from Stargazers. Undulating hills and expansive views surround the site. At night time, the stars are truly breathtaking and are best enjoyed around the fire pit.
Amazing bird and nocturnal wildlife is abundant due to the state forestry right next door which has marked trails, perfect for hiking, biking or horse riding.

Before we even booked Eloise was helpful in answering our questions. Upon arrival you get greeted and told how to get up to the tent. The owners have outdone themselves. The whole set up was amazing. The view was breathtaking. The tent has the softest carpet and the bed is super comfy. There is everything you could think you need while camping. Literally just needing to take your food and drinks of choice. They even provide a little power station that powers the fan and anything you need charged. The portaloo was the cleanest one I've ever seen and had a air freshener in there so there no smells. 10 out 10 stand out glamp spot. Will choose them over hotel holidays away anytime of the year.

Weekend Trip to Stargazers cabin
This is a really intentional, thought out camping spot. It is perfect if you want to camp but don’t have any of your own equipment.
The bed is very comfortable, the utilities are really good.
You need to find the instruction to turn off the system that initiates the water when you use the tap (they have potable water which is another massive bonus) otherwise it does make noise during the night, but if you turn it off you won’t have issues
I will stay here again, the dog fence is great if you bring you dog and the property has friendly horses that come and visit

Beautiful relaxing oasis Kathryn has created. Was a great last minute night away, enjoyed the fire pit in the evening and waking to bird sound in the morning. Very thankful for the freshly baked sourdough too! Loved this spot and would love to come back again soon :)

Weekend Trip to Stargazers cabin
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay at Stargazers! It was a highlight having the cabin within a fenced off area, knowing my reactive puppy dog could run freely without straying too far. The entire cabin is magical, set with some very pretty starry lights, a bar area with a view overlooking the valley, and even a well equipped fire pit area. We were lucky enough to wake up to their three horses - Maggie, Sadie & Willow greeting us up close, which was really special! Sadly we chose to stay there on the night of a full moon, therefore didn’t get the full stargazers experience. So now we will definitely be back on a moonless night! ✨ Thankyou to the hosts Avon & Brian 😊

Absolutely beautiful site! Eloise provided excellent communication from the beginning, helping us with everything we needed before booking and warmly meeting and greeting us upon arrival.
The site itself was beautiful and cozy, with a comfortable bed and all the basic amenities we needed. We absolutely loved our stay and would definitely stay here again. Would also highly recommend it to friends!

Such a beautiful site! The hosts honestly provided so much more than we expected we definitely didn’t need to bring anything! The views are stunning, topped with the relaxing sounds of the cows. We stopped to feed the horses and have a pat and they were so friendly and gentle. Would definitely recommend for a little get away 🫶🏼

Weekend Trip to Hilltop Farm, Camping and Glamping.
Such a beautiful, secluded spot, we didn’t see another person the entire time we were there.
The whole setup was amazing. Everything felt comfortable and thoughtfully done, without being overly modern or losing that cosy camping feel. Definitely my version of camping 🙌
We also ventured out for a couple of nearby hikes and spent some time exploring the local town.
The hosts were incredibly helpful and communicative throughout, which made the whole stay even easier.
Would definitely stay here again!

We had an amazing time glaming here. Communication was great, they met us at the road and helped us find our way. Communication was great. The site has pretty much everything we could possibly need, even a fan! We loved bringing our dogs. The tent itself was so luxurious and clean, it felt like a sanctuary. The views are incontestable, particularly for star gazing wow wow wow. Would absolutely come again.
