Buxton Bush Retreat is a privately owned parcel of 17 acres located 7 kilometers (6 minute drive) from the quaint seaside village of Buxton.
The front 5 acres is 'home' to Kerrie and Brian, their two puppies (Jazz and Jaxi) and two cats (Bangers and Mash).
The remainder of the property (about 12 acres) comprises of flat, well grassed areas and natural bushland.
There are eight(8) well maintained, large, flat camping areas and each has its own fire pit. An initial supply of firewood will be provided.
There is no water or power throughout these camping areas, hence they are only suitable for "fully self contained" motor homes and caravans.
Apart from humans, dogs and cats, the property is inhabited by kangaroos and a variety of birdlife.
The small township of Buxton is home to a mixture of permanent residents and holiday homes. There is one general store which sells most consumables, including alcohol. They also serve up meals every Wednesday. Buxton has a great little boat ramp on the Isis River which provides easy access for river fishing or to the Coral Sea for ocean fishing.
So, if you're looking for a clean, comfortable QUIET and relaxing campsite with not too many people around then Buxton Bush Retreat many be just the place for you. No 'midges' or sand flies or dirt/sand camping sites .... all sites are flat and fully grassed and maintained.

Sandflies are a problem in this region anywhere near water, in the mornings until about 9am and in the evenings after about 3:30pm, so bring plenty of repellent and apply early and often.
Sites are 30-40 metres apart with a maximum of 8 vehicles and their occupants in the whole property. No overcrowding!

To access the farm, turn right off the Maryborough Highway into Chapel Rd, then turn right at the picnic table beside the bikeway, and do not drive over the cattle grid. We offer numerous camping sites on cleared land lined by trees, near to our gully and seasonal creek. Each site is private and offers plenty of space. Campers must be self-contained with their own camp toilet, but there is a 24/7 dump station just 2km away.
A stone's throw from the campsites is access to the mobility corridor/bike path, which takes you straight into Hervey Bay and continues all the way past the shops to Urangan pier, offering 15km of ocean frontage to explore.
Our farm is located about 2.5km from both hospitals (private and government) for any care that you may need. All specialists and consulting facilities are very convenient.
Next door to the campsites is our fantastic local cafe, The Depot Espresso Bar, open at 6 in the morning. They're happy to take orders for our campers from 5:30 if you knock! It's perfect for hopping on your bike from camp, grabbing your morning caffeine fix, and continuing on the day's biking adventure.
Campfires are permitted, but please BYO firepit, and there is plenty of fallen timber you are welcome to collect and split yourself. Pets are welcome too!
Kids under 5 stay free and don't need to be included in the booking group count. Check-in is welcome after 9 am and you can depart anytime.

The whale watching season in Hervey Bay runs from July - November. Hervey Bay is a short 8 minute drive to some of the most beautiful and safe swimming beaches in Australia. There is several shopping areas including large shopping centres where you can pick up supplies etc. Wander around the weekly markets and enjoy the holiday vibe Hervey Bay brings you. Not forgetting our beautiful K'Gari/Fraser Island. When exploring the area it is a must see and do. There are daily tours to K'gari that leave from River Heads which is less than a 20 minute drive from here. Maryborough is only a 25 minute drive from here and boasts some of the most beautiful heritage buildings and museums. They hold their street markets every Thursday. After all that exploring you can then come back and enjoy the serenity and reflect on the wonderful day you have had. Enjoy the adventure.

Just 30 minutes from Hervey Bay and right off the highway, this spot is such a gem. With farm animals, a magical fairy garden, bikes, a playground, and beautiful bushland surrounds, it’s perfect for a relaxing stopover.
The best part? The most delightful hosts who are constantly adding thoughtful touches — and it’s not even a year old yet! 🙌
There’s a shower & toilet, water refill, and a handy camp kitchen, making it an easy and comfortable stay.
Being relatively close to the highway (not that you’d know it when here as it’s all bush land!), you can hear some noise, but it’s not super loud.
We stayed on site 5 which was large enjoy for multiple families and close to everything!

It is such a beautiful place , different birds flying around, it was so relaxing to sit back in nature , the farm animals were great got to feed the goats and held a fluffy white chook.
The owners Susan and Vince were lovely people made me feel very welcome. I have shown photos to friends , etc and they are thinking of staying. I'm hoping to plan a trip back with family, friends etc.
I recommend people to go and stay , has lots of things for kids , good thing for parents to spend special time with their kids.
I stayed for 15 days and I loved every moment of it, felt a bit sad I was leaving such a wonderful amazing place. Thank you Susan , Vince and Eli for beautiful moments in your neck of woodlands and farmstay .🩷🩷🩷🩷

Splitters farm has to be one of the best things about Bundaberg! This was our second visit to Splitters and it really is a family favourite. So much for the kids to do all while being a relaxing getaway for parents. Facilities are immaculate! Staff are friendly! Highly recommend

Great place to spend Easter. We were lucky enough to be right on the river There was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. Yes there are permanent but all lovely people I met while walking my dogs each morning. The water was muddy from recent rains so we didn’t have much luck fishing

Suzan and Vincent were super lovely, camp spot were very generously sized. We had a great time for out first camping trip away in our camper. Very family friendly, My kids loved feeding and holding the farm animals too!
As stated, there is some highway noise over night, and being self sufficient is definitely recommended. There is one Communal toilet that is enclosed with the shower. It was nice to use however caused a bit of a que at times and using the shower with the kids after somone had been to the toilet created a bit of a wait time to let things settle before going in. Just something to be mindful of. The grounds are lovely, the hosts are so welcoming and we will definitely return once they have continued to expand a little. A really nice place to stay 🙂

Nice spot, quiet, not too over crowded. Close to Howard and Torbanlea.
Fireflies where a wonderful bonus.
NB: be sure to load up on vitamin B and bring the aerogard!

A property that has had so much work done to it, and the aspirations are still plenty to go. Amazing hosts, always up for a chat. Very clean and spacious site, kids loved playing with the goats, chickens, ducks and guinea pigs. Was very appreciative to the easter activities that were put on, even though that meant me "running" around with chocolates attached for kids to get.
You will definitely see us again and we look forward to seeing the ongoing changes you make!

Another wonderful weekend at the farm! So peaceful. Greg is super friendly and helpful. This will become a regular haunt! (Midgies can get really bad, so cover up or use insect repellent and you’ll be fine!)

Absolutely loved everything about it. Kids had a great time patting all the farm animals. The amenities are pretty much brand new and kept clean and tidy. We will be going back again in future.
