Be aware tropical North Queensland has paralysis ticks and we have snakes at times and visiting pigs. Water can be supplied upon request. Power generators are permitted . There may be minimal mobile service with Telstra. Campfire will only be permitted within fire pit. All campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace behind. Checkout is generally when you feel like it. Dog friendly. Site may be closed in the wet season from December to April, once monsoonal events occur

We stayed at site 4: The Views. Absolutely perfect with 2 little kids. They loved the horses being so close and it was an easy and relaxing sight for us. Sheree is so welcoming and gave us some great places to explore the area! I’m still amazed this is in her backyard!

Weekend Trip to Wakana Ridge Homestead

Wakana Ridge was a stunning place to stay for the weekend! Endless amazing views with easy access down to Tinaroo dam where the kids had a ball on the kayaks provided. Katrina and Jesse we're fabulous hosts, so welcoming and friendly. An added bonus too was feeding the cheeky goats and the kids collecting the chicken eggs. We absolutely loved it here and will be back.

Weekend Trip to Three Falls Holiday Millaa Millaa

Great site - especially for children! Our preschool aged children enjoyed feeding the chickens and spotting for wildlife at night (though they were too loud to see much!) I was incredibly impressed that there were no mosquitos!!! Shame we only had one night - but it was worth it and the area surrounding is beautiful - stunning waterfalls, and they’re quiet with no other visitors first thing in the morning!

10 nights at Aloomba Homestead (Tropical Qld)

To be honest nothing stood out at 'Aloomba Homestead' Hipcamp, because it was simply amazingly magical all 'round, our type of Hipcamp. Mother Nature at her best, the birdlife was incredible, a very peaceful and calming location on the Mulgrave River within close proximity to Deeral boat ramp, where we launched our tinny and also topped up with water for our van. As for the hosts Margie & Richard, what a terrific down to earth couple, our kinda people, very genuine and open to a good old chin-wag. We hope they travel down our way to Cape Bridgewater in Victoria one day, so we can return their kindness. Top spot for our 10 day stay. 👌

We have a 12.5m motorhome, trailer and 4X4 and our site (#2) has ample space for all plus much more. It's super quiet and relaxing here, yet only minutes drive into Mission Beach town. The owners are very friendly and have plenty of knowledge about the area and great things to do. We recommend this place and wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

This place was incredible! Sheree and Jacko the dog were so friendly, as were the little turtles that came to say hi to us! We initially booked Site 3 - The Waterfall but Sheree was so kind and messaged to say the water was low due to the lack of rain recently and gave us the option to move sites. We moved to Site 1 - The Dam…. And WOW! It was stunning! My kids loved playing in the water and it was so tranquil. We got some firewood and sat out admiring the sky which was incredible. We really wish we could’ve stayed longer here. Massively recommend this beautiful place and wouldn’t hesitate to return one day!

Weekend Trip to Paradise Camps

We enjoyed our stay at Paradise Camps however our request to be as far away from other campers with close access to the creek was not ideal. Dee was very accommodating suggesting that once booked we could change our camp location once onsite. What we ended up with was a non powered campsite away from others but very close to the Bruce Highway, let’s say 150 or so metres or so. It wasn’t what you’d call Paradise and not only was the road noise quite loud there is also the main train line between Brisbane and Cairns and the local sugar cane rail line. The access to the creek was quite treacherous at best for over 60’s and when we went for a swim after setting up camp there was a large group of indigenous folk who were enjoying the swimming spot from access provided via a public road off the highway. They were fine but making plenty of noise, smoking cigarettes and playing loud music in what I thought was a private location and definitely not guests of Paradise Camps that I paid $60 a night for. The road noise was tolerable after dark and we couldn’t complain however the following day we elected to relocate further west away from the highway and although you can’t escape from the noise of the highway & trains completely it was much better. The creek near the camp kitchen is simply beautiful and the access via the concrete stairs makes it safe and easy for all levels of mobility. All in all it’s a nice spot but $60 a night for two people in an unpowered site is a bit rich.

With only 3 very private and demographically separate campsites you can enjoy the rainforest serenity in your own little private slice of paradise. The hosts Sue and Alan are very friendly and accommodating, we will be back 😊

Fantastic stay at Platypus Lagoon! We had a great experience here — the site was quiet, private, and easy to find. The area is spacious, flat, and beautifully shaded, making it really comfortable for camping. Perfect spot if you’re after a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature. Would definitely stay again!

The areas are well looked after, and the visits from the farm animals every now and again was pleasant too. Will be visiting again in the future to witness the waterfall on site 3, if the spot isn’t already taken
