You will come here to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of `Black Mountain'. `Black Mountain’ is on Gumbainggir country. It is a registered conservation property bordering Nymboida River and Nymboi-Binderay National Park. Alastair and I have shared the property for more than 25 years and consider ourselves custodians of this precious place. Visitors enjoy: the pristine river; walking tracks through diverse terrain; starry night skies and campfires. Previous guests recommend staying at least two nights to soak up the atmosphere and explore the area. Choose from the 'Ant Shack' or four adjacent campsites with easy access and views to the Nymboida River. Shared facilities include a hot shower and composting toilets. You can walk, swim and kayak, explore the area or just relax for days. We can’t accommodate domestic animals or allow fishing, not even catch and release, because we protect our wildlife and the endangered Eastern Cod. Black Mountain is remote but just 60 kilometres from Grafton or Coffs (via back way). 2WD access to our house is from Nymboida only. 4WD/AWD from Lowanna or Glenreagh and 4WD/AWD down to the river/campsite area - Not suitable for caravans. All proceeds from Airbnb and Hipcamp are invested in the continuing conservation of Black Mountain.

Richard's farm is a massive piece of land and we were allowed to pick any spot. Richard is a gracious host who proved all the necessities for the travelers - fresh water and power. There is plenty of wood on site and Richard can lend you an axe if you feel up to it. Bring some carrots and apples to feed the neighbours horses - kids will love it. The site itself is reasonably leveled and we had no issues in parking our motorhome. Overall our stay was fun and enjoyable.

Beaut campsite overlooking the Nymboida 😊 We went walking along the well marked tracks early morning for a couple hours which were delightful with the quirky additions along the way. In the afternoon paddled out in the Nymboida river and had a dip. Camp fire in the evening and lots of fireflys around amazing. Great couple days n lucky good weather. Steep hill down but little Subaru handled it well 👍.

We absolutely loved camping at Mer and Ben’s Hipcamp!! The property is beautiful, there is so much wildlife (particularly frogs) and the sites are very spacious and shaded. They provided us with a fire pit which was a great size! The toilet was very clean and the camp shower was a fun little experience and super handy to have. The property was easy to find and a short (20 mins ish) drive to the beach. As much as I want to keep this beautiful place a secret i genuinely think anyone that visits would have a much stronger relationship with nature and wildlife after their visit! Can’t wait to be back again!

The instructions for staying here are very clear and easy to comply to. There are also optional extras you can include by giving Rob plenty of notice as it is a working farm. Overall, a very relaxed farm stay with an interesting history.

Camping at Island Acres was fantastic. Justin was extremely helpful and always made sure everything was OK, and that we did not need anything. From Headland 1, we has an awesome view west to the mountains overlooking the island and the cane fields. We were lucky to see some cane burning one night while we were there. Island Acres is highly recommended, and a great spot to stay while exploring the area. Easy access to and from the property. Molly and Bindi, Justin's dogs were also very friendly and dropped by occasionally for a pat.

What an amazing spot to take our family, this was. Ben met us at the gate and made sure we were set up well in our spot. We camped at the big tree in a 40x40 metre fully fenced area. Our toddler grandson and 5 dogs could run free and safe all day. The sheep and deer are delightful to see and pat. The amenities are lovely and clean. There’s plenty of space to wander around and it really is a beautiful place to stay. We easily got our big rig in, as well as our sons caravan and daughters small RV. This absolute gem is worth a stay. Ben is an encyclopaedia of information and both he and Catherine were amazingly thoughtful and left us to our own devices bit were easily accessible if we required anything. Thank you 🤩

We loved our overnight stop at Reltec Springs. Great set up for RV’s and although the driveway isn’t tarmac (it’s dirt), and a tiny/little steep, our 15tonne big rig made it up there easy. The scenery is beautiful and the camp kitchen, bathroom, toilet and washing machine are well appointed and spotless. Ben and Leah are very nice and helpful. 100% recommend a stay at the beautiful Hip Camp venue.

Weekend Trip to Island Acres

We stayed in campsite Nursery Grass1 for 2 nights in mid June. A beautiful and peaceful spot overlooking the nursery and the Clarence valley beyond. We had a bit of cloud on the horizon both evenings making for a great sunsets. Justin was very welcoming and helpful and even showed us around his nursery after we asked him about it.
