Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement.
The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. During NSW School Holidays, host led animal interactions will be available at designated times.

Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

River Front Campsites is a picturesque camping area on the eastern edge of the Barrington Tops National Park (Gloucester Tops) and nestled on the banks of the crystal clear Gloucester River. A great spot for families and groups of all ages who love wide open natural spaces. A place to relax and enjoy the amazing mountain scenery, fabulous sunsets and bird life local to the area, along with other wildlife that graze the land.
If you want to indulge in the natural wonders of the area, there are numerous walking trails in the nearby Gloucester Tops National Park, swim in the crystal clear water of the Gloucester River. Do some Bird watching.
We are an active beef cattle farm. We run approximately 80 head of cattle. You will see our herd of cattle across the paddocks, which includes pregnant cows, younger cows, calves, and Brutus our bull.
We will endeavor to run our cattle outside of the paddocks containing the campsites.
For this reason, we ONLY allow dogs to stay if they remain on a lead or are well controlled.
There are 6 sites to choose from beside the flowing river to set up your campsite, with shady areas, spacious grassy areas for the kids to run around or just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
All of our campsites are perfect for having a campfire (fire season dependent). NO rubbish can be burnt in any campfires at all. Each Site will have a fire pit. BYO wood.
These are sites only and NO toilet or shower facilities are provided, or freshwater. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN CAMPING TOILET OR ONE IN YOUR CARAVAN/CAMPER. (There are dump points located in Gloucester and Stroud townships, both approximately 40 min away).
Access to River Front Campsites is partially by 12kms of gravel council managed road with 6 water crossings. Campsites are easily accessible by 4WD and 2WD vehicles. (Weather conditions permitting)

Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops.
We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity
We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022.
Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park.
You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is.
You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution.
With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful.
Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester.
Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park.
This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds.
We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you.
When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand.

Bernard and Susan are custodians of the farm, primarily using the land for poultry (egg), pig, and goat farming. They are transitioning to an off-grid and eco-friendly lifestyle for their retirement.
The Hatch Farm is home to many animals, most of whom are rescues - including border collies, cavalier king charles spaniels, chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, goats, miniature horses, cows, cats, rabbits, and guinea pigs. There is plenty to do and see around the farm from complete relaxation, interacting with the friendly animals (there is usually a variety of babies to cuddle!), to casting a line or launching your boat from the rustic boat ramp. Please note that all animal interactions are self-led (including our animal nursery), and children must be supervised by their parents/carers. A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle.
Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

We wish to acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the Worimi, Gringai and Biripi people the custodians, spiritual and cultural owners of these lands on which the Gloucester River runs.
River Front Campsites is a picturesque camping area on the eastern edge of the Barrington Tops National Park (Gloucester Tops) and nestled on the banks of the crystal clear Gloucester River. A great spot for families and groups of all ages who love wide open natural spaces. A place to relax and enjoy the amazing mountain scenery, fabulous sunsets and bird life local to the area, along with other wildlife that graze the land.
If you want to indulge in the natural wonders of the area, there are numerous walking trails in the nearby Gloucester Tops National Park, swim in the crystal clear water of the Gloucester River. Do some Bird watching.
We are an active beef cattle farm. We run approximately 80 head of cattle. You will see our herd of cattle across the paddocks, which includes pregnant cows, younger cows, calves, and Brutus our bull.
We will endeavor to run our cattle outside of the paddocks containing the campsites.
For this reason, we ONLY allow dogs to stay if they remain on a lead or are well controlled.
There are 6 sites to choose from beside the flowing river to set up your campsite, with shady areas, spacious grassy areas for the kids to run around or just relax and enjoy the surroundings.
All of our campsites are perfect for having a campfire (fire season dependent). NO rubbish can be burnt in any campfires at all. Each Site will have a fire pit. BYO wood.
These are sites only and NO toilet or shower facilities are provided, or freshwater. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR OWN CAMPING TOILET OR ONE IN YOUR CARAVAN/CAMPER. (There are dump points located in Gloucester and Stroud townships, both approximately 40 min away).
Access to River Front Campsites is partially by 12kms of gravel council managed road with 6 water crossings. Campsites are easily accessible by 4WD and 2WD vehicles. (Weather conditions permitting)
Flood detour road available if needed.
There is no rubbish collection on the campsites. You will be required to take all rubbish off the property when you leave.
THERE IS NO MOBILE RECEPTION.

Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops.
We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity
We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022.
Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park.
You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is.
You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution.
With some lovely Spring rain the river is running beautifully and is great for a swim, fish or canoe. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful.
Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester.
Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park.
This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds.
We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you.
When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand.

There isn't really anything negative to say about this place. I won't repeat what everyone else has said, so I'll try and add a few points.
No mozzies? Mid Jan and no mozzies. I don't know if this is normal, but it's awesome.. Lots of flies though.
The water is just so wonderful. We swam and explored all over the immediate body of water near the camp. We had goggles too. You don't see much life when swimming around, but stay still in the one place for a few minutes and you'll have baby bass, gudgeon and rainbow fish swimming up to say hello. We had a bit of a fish for bass and caught a few little fella's. Nothing large though. You have to go wandering up the river to find some holes..
Sit on the bank and you'll catch kingfishers diving in the water, herrons and an assortment of other birds. Beautiful little blue fairy wrens hang around the tents too.
So much life around..
Anyway, we loved it. Will probably come back at some point

This was our second visit to Rick and Cheryl’s wonderful campsite and definitely not our last. It was even better than the first time with new animals, the new toilet block and Nicole’s delicious sweet treats. You couldn’t ask for better hosts with the time they generously give each afternoon showing you the animals, the knowledge they share about farm life and the time they allow you to explore. Can’t wait to get back.

This place really surprised me, as it is a field, with a fancy bathroom in the middle. As well as a sheltered seating area. I'd go again, really looking forward to seeing how this place develops.
It has everything you'd want for a camp spot, a fully functional bathroom with hot rain shower and flushing loo, very clean and smells clean too. It has a nice sheltered sitting area which is good for cooking and eating in when it's raining or sunny!
It is a nice big field with lots of space for all kinds of vehicles and camping options. It's really remote and quiet, there's a pretty creek, and some swings for kids. It's an actual farm so animals have to be on leads.

Each site is well spread out, so you've got plenty of space, you can barely see the next site.
The space is grassy with a great view of the creek. Loved sleeping to the sounds of the rapids mixed in with nature.

We stayed at Creek Front Six and absolutely loved it. The site itself is beautiful—peaceful, well set up, and right on the creek, which made it incredibly relaxing. Waking up to the sound of the water and being surrounded by nature was exactly what we were hoping for.
What really made our stay special, though, were the hosts Greg and Jamie. They were welcoming, friendly, and genuinely cared that we had a great experience. Nothing felt like too much trouble, and their local knowledge and warmth really stood out.
It’s clear a lot of thought and care has gone into this campsite. We left feeling refreshed and already talking about coming back. Highly recommend Creek Front Six to anyone looking for a beautiful spot and outstanding hosts.

We camped on Long Flat and had an amazing time! Thank you Ian and Jo for the flexibility you showed in accommodating our group (tent city). We were so blessed on the first night to be invited by another family camping on the property to join them in viewing the planets and stars through Dusty’s Telescope Views of the Night Sky. A true highlight! Thank you Jo for arranging this. The stars out on the property are next level!
We camped during a heatwave and were amazed at how much the river offered relief. The Riverbank also allowed for great shade. Long Flat feels very private and there’s nothing like waking up to the beautiful view of the farm. And going to sleep to the sounds of the river.
Thank you also for the eggs Jo! Jo and Ian are amazing hosts and they really seek to make sure we have the best experience.

We love it here. Have been twice and plan to come back. The sites are roomy, plenty for the kids to do with visits up to the farm to feed the animals and snuggle the bunnies. The river is clear and safe. We brought some biscuits and brownies from their daughter too and they were delicious as well as eggs. A very safe relaxing place to go!

The camping area is absolutely fantastic. Right next to the Ballengarra river. Rick and Cheryl provide kayaks and boogie boards for guests, an undercover bbq area and immaculately clean toilets.
Their daughter Nicole comes down daily to sell delicious baked goods and fresh eggs can also be purchased.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the farm and will be back for sure. Will also be recommending it to our friends and family for sure.
If you want a relaxing enjoyable camping experience with friendly hosts this is the place to go.

We had a wonderful four-night stay at Willowbank and couldn’t recommend it more. The site is beautifully maintained, shady, and incredibly peaceful — a perfect spot for a family getaway, even in cooler weather.
The kids had an amazing time, especially playing and dipping in the river, which was a real highlight. Jo and Ian were fantastic hosts: so friendly, welcoming, and helpful. We even went on a lovely little walk around the property, which was lovely.

Camp Kundle was such a pleasant stay. We were there for 5 nights in January. The creek was lovey to camp near for swimming, facilities were clean and well kept. The hosts checked in on us every day and gave us tips on what to do and see locally. Highly recommend this place and look forward to returning!
