Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Yerrinbool is 1 hour from Sydney and a great spot to spend a weekend away, 15 mins from Bowral and 10 mins to Mittagong There are animals on the farm including ducks, chickens, goats, sheep and sometimes even baby cows. The property does need a little clean up but the rear of the property is nice and tranquil. We are directly next to the HWY so sometimes there is road noise, but it's a great location for an easy stopover. Easy access for caravans, keeping in mind the weather as like in all areas it becomes soft when wet. Please note, while we do permit more than one car per site booking, we only allow 1 caravan per site. So if you are in a group with more than 1 caravan, you will need to book multiple sites. Any questions, please let us know. We have Fire Pits in key locations around the farm PLEASE DO NOT move them as they signify each spot for camping. They have allocated spots and we do not need them moved. We also have a toilet in a small shed in the rear paddock for people who are using tents. Also when you come to the campsite please insure that when using the toilet to keep it clean as it is a bush toilet. buckets must be filled up from the dam and using the dam water to flush the toilet please keep clean for the next camper. and water is at the front of the property, if you're required to fill your tanks or rinse off. We have two dams with yabbies you are welcome to collect. We live on property and are happy to share and let people enjoy our beautiful location. The morning birdsong and evening are restorative. The sunrises and sunsets amazing. Far enough away to unwind and relax, close enough to get a caffeine fix if needed! Coming into summer camp fires are subject to weather conditions and fire warnings. Campers must be self-contained. Off grid campers, 4wd vehicles with pop ups or tents on ground and RVs can be accommodated. We have a leave only footprints philosophy. Bebrue was created in 1972 when 8¼ acres of natural bushland on the top of Mount Gibraltar (“The Gib”) at Mittagong was donated to the Girl Guides Association for the establishment of a camping and outdoors facility.Today, the site offers a well-protected camping facility set amongst beautiful, natural surrounds that are ideal for many activities. The adjacent north-east side of Mount Gibraltar offers walking trails to explore.The Mount Gibraltar Forest is significant due to its rarity, being identified as an endangered and threatened ecological community. The unique geology of the area supports a collection of flora that, as an assemblage, does not exist outside of The Gib. One very important resident of The Gib that you may meet is the extremely rare Powerful Owl. Bebrue is one of the largest privately own properties on The Gib and Girl Guides have always worked hard to protect the natural bush at Bebrue. Bebrue has also been recognised by the Mount Gibraltar Landcare and Bushcare Group as being an important local wildlife corridor. Enjoy our little getaway down by the Hawkesbury River only 10 minutes from historic Windsor. A beautiful river shack for your use exclusively, including fire pit with direct access to the Hawkesbury river. Destroyed in the March and July 2022 floods, we have now re-built and are loving welcoming back our guests. Bring your caravans, tent or swag - all are welcome! Unfortunately, boats are not. Wonderful campsite in close proximity to Princes Highway and Wollongong area. A true campsite amongst the trees it truly felt secluded and away from it all. We stayed at site 2, a short drive on the property. No issues with overhanging trees or any obstructions and was easy to drive down and turn around. Plenty of privacy and secluded from all else, the running creek is a joy to be beside. Fit pit provided, BYO firewood. Small slope to the site but not major or inconvenient. Would easily return and would be suitable for small groups of 2 or 3 to make a enjoyable camping experience.

A lovely camping spot, there’s a good amount space between the different spots so we had privacy and could use our little music speaker without worrying about annoying anyone :) There was a lovely smooth area for our tent so it was super comfy sleeping! The Little River walk was lovely, as was the pond with the kayaks (my partner had a swim there and really enjoyed it). The toilet was very clean, and having clean water was really great too. Also no mozzies at all even though we were near the pond in November!!! I definitely recommend :)

Camping at Jila Campgrounds was an experience. The mountain-perched site with river frontage is perfect, lovely for kayaking or just unwinding by the water. They provide toilets and showers, which makes things comfortable. The campground feels very safe, even for solo campers, and it’s pet-friendly so Kyoto was happy exploring. One great thing: there’s no reception or mobile signal, which is ideal if you want to disconnect. Just make sure you save all your important notes offline before you arrive. The owner was super helpful. When our car broke down, he helped us get it working again. That kind of support made a big difference. A word of caution: during a short but heavy rain with strong wind, a nearby car was struck by a falling tree. It’s wise to camp a little distance from large trees if the weather turns. Overall, I really like this place: mountain views, riverside calm, and a helpful owner. It’s about an hour from us, and we’d definitely go back.

This is our largest site - it can easily accommodate double the cars and tents pictured. We're not precious about the ferns - they grow back very quickly. You get at least 400 sqm completely to yourself - no sharing with others.

Elouera Vale is a working farm located just outside Mittagong NSW. We breed and train camels for sale, especially into the Southern Highlands. Camels are excellent for weed control and co-grazing with cattle. 'Elouera Vale' also breeds Belted Galloway cattle, Dorper and Wiltipol sheep and donkeys. Our property covers over 140 acres, 80 acres cleared and pasture improved and the rest consisting of forest. The Chain O Ponds creek runs through the property and makes for a lovely walk. You will probably get to see kangaroo, wallaby, wombats, echidnas, koalas and lots of bird life. The lush green hills abound with walking and cycling trails. You can head to the spectacular Nattai Gorge via the Box Vale Mine walking track, an easy 4.4km circular walk that follows an old railway line through a tunnel to breath-taking views. Enjoy a picnic in the magnificent Lake Alexandra Reserve or hike up extinct volcanic peak Mount Gibraltar. The closest shops are approximately a 15 minute drive to the Mittagong Town Centre where you will find all the shops, cafes and restaurants for your needs. It is well worth a visit to ‘The Shaggy Cow’ cafe, one of our favourite foodie spots (don’t forget to mention Elouera Vale). While you're here please try the Cool Climate wines. The region’s rich soil and high altitude are ideal for cool-climate wine growing. Visit cellar doors in the hills and valleys around Mittagong, including Centennial Vineyards. The Camel Cottage offers a luxe off-the-grid escape for couples just one hour from Sydney but feels like "miles from anywhere". The Gums Cottage is a fully contained, off-grid modern getaway, surrounded by the magnificent white gum trees that are its namesake. The serene setting and stylish interior of The Gums provides all the essentials for a picturesque and peaceful country escape. If your heart beats to the vibrant drum of the Southern Highlands but you want the space and freedom of camping on a great river, then Wings of the Carribee is for you. Two campsites share 20 Acres of cottonwood trees on the Wingecarribee river. They are 250m apart and both on the riverfront giving you the seclusion you need while allowing you access to all that the Highlands have to offer. Bring your fishing rod and yabbie net, sit at the large picnic table, rent a kayak and go for a paddle, come say hello to the miniature Hereford cattle and enjoy the half drum fire pit while watching the cows grazing across the river. If you are bringing dog(s) then they must be on a lead or consider Yabbie which is enclosed. Of course you will be tempted to explore the area. Wings sits directly between Bowral and Moss Vale (both are less than 5km away) and is 14 km from historic Berrima so you can leave the camper and head into town to enjoy the old world charm of the area. The Southern Highlands is ideal if you’re wanting to escape Sydney (100km) or Canberra (160km) without lengthy travel. Discover all that the area has to offer including a host of idyllic country towns, fascinating shops and regular country events. With it’s abundant wineries, award-winning restaurants, culinary delights, and natural splendor, it’s the place to unplug, find yourself and indulge in some of life’s finest pleasures. If the birds and the bees are your thing then you are also in for a rare treat. We have eastern greys, rabbits, the odd fox and a host of birdlife (eyes open for the resident wedgetail pair, pelicans, black swans etc.), but whatever you seek from your break, we look forward to hosting you.
