Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

It has flat areas with plenty of free timber for the designated fire pits. I have tried to create a haven for wildlife including Kangaroos, wombats, echidnas and platypus. I cherish the cleanliness of the river and surrounds and wish to be able to share this special environment with others who care to preserve all it offers. You can explore the property along the tracks, paddle, swim or fish in the river, enjoy the fauna, wildlife and birdlife. Located not far from Braidwood, a town steeped in history, with good shopping, coffee shops and great food. Sloping to flat land amongst the Scribbly Gum trees offering a number of sites and walks through the property. It provides both sun and shade. Access is good for vans of any size along a track through the bushland. Lovely swimming spots in the Mongalowe River, beautiful clear water, and several lovely bushwalks around the property. To the West there are hundreds of kilometres of Forestry and National Park roads through some of the most spectacular forested mountain country east of the Coastal Range. The Clyde River Berry Farm is just minutes down the road. Local fish and chips, great coffee and handmade bread is 25mins drive at Burrill Lake. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. When you stay at Sunset Point you have lake frontage onto Borang Lake ( 4km from Potato Point), which connects directly with the Tuross lakes. You are able to launch your own tinny at our private jetty. A firepit is provided and you can collect your own wood yourself, or purchase a $25 a wheel barrow load with your booking. Wildlife is plentiful here, so please respect the environment and clean up after your self. There are some amazing local beaches only minutes to Potato Point or down the back track 10 minute drive or, ride your pushie or walk (its a bit of a walk) - straight to Blackfellows Point at Potato Point. There are lovely walking tracks around the property and lots of fishing, kayaking, SUP or pop your Tinnie in and fish till sunset or just plain lazy days. Watch the sunrise or walk to the other side of the property and watch the sunset. Watching the moon rise on the lake is quite beautiful. Launch your tinny and go fishing or simply kayak or lazy around. The site is dog friendly, but your pet must be well behaved and not aggressive as there may be other campers and pets on the property during your stay and a Sunset Point Camp Cat. You may not be right next to each other but please respect other guests, with noise. Just 10 minutes from the charming village of Bodalla, which was founded on the back of dairy farming and cheese production back in the 1860s. 30 minutes drive either way to the hubs of Narooma and Moruya. No barking dogs and no loud music or parties. This is a peaceful getaway. Short car trip to famous beaches where you leave nothing but footprints. It's our secret!

Roagumba, or Roa for short, is our 920 acre patch of paradise in the stunning Yowrie Valley, an area traditionally inhabited by the Yuin people. Roa is a working cattle farm, made up of approximately 60% cleared land and the rest native bushland. The Yowrie Valley is largely surrounded by the beautiful Wadbilliga National Park. It is a 35 minute drive to the beaches near Bermagui, whilst the historic and quirky town of Tilba is 40 minutes away. The crystal clear Yowrie River flows along the western side of the property with numerous secluded swimming holes. The property is a working cattle farm so you're likely to meet some very friendly Jersey cows during your stay, as well as a lot of native wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats and birds. We operate three Hipcamp sites and two different locations on the property. Mountain Camp is a single site and offers complete seclusion and privacy, while River Camp is a double site and offers views across the valley whilst only being metres from the river. Both locations have composting toilets. We cater for small groups who are seeking a quiet, peaceful escape. Our sites are small and are capped at 6 people each, per night. To reduce traffic and out of respect to our neighbours, there is a maximum of 2 vehicles allowed per site. One additional vehicle per site can be organised, however we need at least 72 hours notice.

We are located 8 kilometres off the Princes Highway and we DO recommend 4wd as there is 5 kilometres of rough dirt road with 3 creek crossings that can be flooded in heavy rains. Dogs are accepted but Must be kept on a leash as we have an abundance of wildlife, wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and birds, as well as our own dogs, horses, pigs, goats and a cat. When you stay at Sunset Point you have lake frontage onto Borang Lake ( 4km from Potato Point), which connects directly with the Tuross lakes. You are able to launch your own tinny at our private jetty. A firepit is provided and you can collect your own wood yourself, or purchase a $25 a wheel barrow load with your booking. Wildlife is plentiful here, so please respect the environment and clean up after your self. There are some amazing local beaches only minutes to Potato Point or down the back track 10 minute drive or, ride your pushie or walk (its a bit of a walk) - straight to Blackfellows Point at Potato Point. There are lovely walking tracks around the property and lots of fishing, kayaking, SUP or pop your Tinnie in and fish till sunset or just plain lazy days. Watch the sunrise or walk to the other side of the property and watch the sunset. Watching the moon rise on the lake is quite beautiful. Launch your tinny and go fishing or simply kayak or lazy around. The site is dog friendly, but your pet must be well behaved and not aggressive as there may be other campers and pets on the property during your stay and a Sunset Point Camp Cat. You may not be right next to each other but please respect other guests, with noise. Just 10 minutes from the charming village of Bodalla, which was founded on the back of dairy farming and cheese production back in the 1860s. 30 minutes drive either way to the hubs of Narooma and Moruya. No barking dogs and no loud music or parties. This is a peaceful getaway. Short car trip to famous beaches where you leave nothing but footprints. It's our secret!

Roagumba, or Roa for short, is our 920 acre patch of paradise in the stunning Yowrie Valley, an area traditionally inhabited by the Yuin people. Roa is a working cattle farm, made up of approximately 60% cleared land and the rest native bushland. The Yowrie Valley is largely surrounded by the beautiful Wadbilliga National Park. It is a 35 minute drive to the beaches near Bermagui, whilst the historic and quirky town of Tilba is 40 minutes away. The crystal clear Yowrie River flows along the western side of the property with numerous secluded swimming holes. The property is a working cattle farm so you're likely to meet some very friendly Jersey cows during your stay, as well as a lot of native wildlife such as kangaroos, wombats and birds. We operate three Hipcamp sites and two different locations on the property. Mountain Camp is a single site and offers complete seclusion and privacy, while River Camp is a double site and offers views across the valley whilst only being metres from the river. Both locations have composting toilets. We cater for small groups who are seeking a quiet, peaceful escape. Our sites are small and are capped at 6 people each, per night. To reduce traffic and out of respect to our neighbours, there is a maximum of 2 vehicles allowed per site. One additional vehicle per site can be organised, however we need at least 72 hours notice.

Self guided walks throughout the property to explore the creek, mountain and mini rainforest. You must be self sufficient as there are no toilets or showers available and please take all rubbish with you. We are located 8 kilometres off the Princes Highway and we DO recommend 4wd as there is 5 kilometres of rough dirt road with 3 creek crossings that can be flooded in heavy rains. Dogs are accepted but Must be kept on a leash as we have an abundance of wildlife, wallabies, kangaroos, wombats and birds, as well as our own dogs, horses, pigs, goats and a cat. Please be aware of wombat holes. As well as snakes.

3 nights at Kangarutha Farm

Absolutely beautiful farm and camp site! The Camp by the Dam site was private, peaceful, scenic and sheltered from the wind, with views over the dam. We experienced a lot of wildlife (wallabies, kangaroos, lizards, frogs, horses and heaps bird life). We spotted kookaburras, nectar eaters and two different kinds of Kingfisher birds (if you enjoy birdwatching, I recommend taking binoculars!). It was the perfect spot for our dog to be primarily off lead and she absolutely loved it, with plenty of space to run and play. We had the entire farm to ourselves for our three night stay, and even if other campers had been on site, it still would have been very private. Waking up to bird song was absolutely delightful. The kitchen, toilet and shower facilities were great to have access to, within a short distance walk. The kitchen has a small fridge, microwave and washing up facilities, dining table, air conditioning and power points to recharge our power bank for our phones. There were plenty of communal areas which would be perfect for group events (large outdoor dining area/table and chairs, fire pit, beautifully landscaped spaces, events building with large kitchen, dining and lounge area). There were recycling and general rubbish bins, and toilet paper was provided. We ordered a wheelbarrow of wood for our three night stay which was more than enough for our time there and was ready on site for our arrival. We can't wait to book our next visit! Highly recommend!

We loved our weekend at Wombat Hollow. We were spoilt having the whole place to ourselves which was ideal as we were looking for quiet downtime. After checking out the whole place we realised that even if all the other camps were full, each camp is in its own secluded spot with lots of space around it and between camps so other campers would not have been a bother at all and we still would have had acres and acres to ourselves. The whole place is well maintained and signposted. Lots of helpful instructions when booking so we knew exactly what to bring and if our vehicle amd camper would be suitable. Vallance is a superb host. The camp sites are perfectly simple. Great fire pit. Sturdy benches, level ground, shade and gorgeous lanscape and wildlife all around. Stunning night skies.

Site for which we had was absolutely amazing. It was on the lake and could hear the soft dappling of the tide at night time. The site was very well prepared, and a great pit fire with a grill which we used to cook. The view is absolutely stunning and the wildlife sounds are so relaxing. The highlight though has been Sally who has been amazingly communicative and generous about using her vegetable garden. Sally is a very lovely soul. We would never have known that there was a place like this in the world unless we booked through Hipcamp. And there is an amazing drive down Black fellows Road through an amazing beach side of Woodland… Four-wheel-drive only! This is our first time here it won’t be our last.

We had an incredible stay at this remote private campsite. The journey in requires a 4x4, but that only adds to the sense of adventure — and the reward at the end is absolutely worth it. The property is stunning, and the host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even providing firewood and a great fire pit setup that made our nights around the fire really special. The campsite itself sits in a peaceful meadow bordered by a small creek, and it honestly feels like your own piece of wilderness. The creek is something truly special — crystal-clear water with beautiful swimming holes that are perfect for cooling off or just relaxing and taking in the scenery. It was one of the highlights of our stay. If you’re looking for privacy, natural beauty, and a host who genuinely cares about your experience, this place is unbeatable. We can’t recommend it highly enough and can’t wait to come back.

Picture perfect camp spot tucked away from all the hustle and bustle. Great body of water to swim in. Good mix of shade and sun in the camp are. Nice touch having a picnic bench and fire area with log seating. Vallance was a very hospitable host. He’s happy to have a chat but also respects your space. Unexpectedly picked up my son and I for a little tractor ride which really made it all worth it to stay on private land. We saw wombats, wallabies and a little platypus in the water. Will return again sometime soon.

What a terrific camping location at Wombat’s Hollow. We were welcomed by Vallance to his lovely property. We stayed at Dads Camp and had a great private area with the river at our doorstep, wombats (as promised) and loads of bird life and the many sounds of the Aussie bush. This Hipcamp will definitely make the “let’s go back again” list.

This is our largest site - it can easily accommodate double the cars and tents pictured. We're not precious about the ferns - they grow back very quickly. You get at least 400 sqm completely to yourself - no sharing with others.

The kids loved waking up to the sound of the cows mooing on our doorstep. There was plenty of wildlife to view and plenty of space to explore. Anthony gave great direction and also met us at the gate to guide us to the camp-site. He was a great host and even provided plenty of fire wood.

Where to go

Illawara

On the Illawara Coast, Shellharbour is home to the National Surfing Reserve of Killalea, and the area is also a favourite of snorkellers and divers who can explore the many shipwrecks and marine life-filled underwater cliffs. Beachfront and just a short walk from the centre, various tourist parks offer a range of accommodation including powered sites, ensuite cabins, and self-contained beachside cottages. A little farther south, Killalea State Park has a secluded camping area in the park’s grassy meadows with access to facilities including toilets, hot showers, and an undercover electric barbecue area.

Shoalhaven Coast

Another favourite among surfers and divers, the Shoalhaven Coast is also known as a wine-growing region and for the powder-white sands, crystalline waters, and whale- and dolphin-spotting opportunities of Jervis Bay. Within Booderee National Park at Jervis Bay, the Cave Beach camping area offers some of Australia’s best secluded beach camping with access to cold showers and barbecues. Farther south, beachfront caravan sites and campgrounds in Murramarang National Park let you can camp alongside resident kangaroos.

Eurobodalla Coast

The Eurobodalla Coast is home to the seaside town of Batemans Bay, famed for its fresh seafood, particularly oysters, as well as the Clyde River National Park, where you can go bushwalking, kayaking, and fishing. Just south of town, Batemans Bay holiday parks offer villas as well as powered sites with access to laundry facilities and BBQ areas. Farther south, Tuross Head is perched on a headland between two tidal lakes, making it the perfect spot for kayaking, fishing, boating, and swimming. Look out for peaceful holiday units, plus powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites with ocean views and easy access to the beach and lake.

Sapphire Coast

At the southern end of the NSW coast, the tranquil Sapphire Coast is home to the small town of Eden, one of the best places in Australia to spot humpback whales on their annual migration from May through September. Just outside town, waterfront holiday parks offer large powered and unpowered caravan sites, as well as a range of cabins, with access to camp kitchens. Forty minutes north, rustic Hobart Beach Campground in Bournda National Park has unpowered sites that make the perfect base for swimming, hiking, and exploring nearby secluded beaches.
