Newcastle is about 1.5 hrs drive away and has a commercial airport and many other facilities of a large sea side city. Wollombi is about 20min drive to the South and is one of the first areas settled in after Sydney. It has many items of historical significance including jail, museum, post office and Wollombi Tavern, the home of Dr Jurds Jungle Juice. Sydney is about 2.5 - 3 hours south. Truly excellent sites at Banjos. Joanne was most accommodating when we arrived offering to show us the property to see where best suited us whilst not hindering the others there. Access is slightly rutted but our 21ft road caravan made it into the first area with no issues just take your time :) Landscape views were amazing and there was so much space and privacy which was perfect. Definitely recommend this camp to those who are self contained and who want some space for themselves. 10/10. Thanks Jo!

Banjo’s Retreat was an absolute gem. Jo and Barry were such wonderful hosts — incredibly friendly, thoughtful and welcoming from the moment we arrived. You can really tell they care about creating a special experience for their guests. The campsite itself was unbelievably peaceful. It had such a sense of serenity, overlooking the paddock and dam with the beautiful Watagan Mountains in the background. Waking up and winding down to the sound of bellbirds and other native birdlife, with a fresh breeze drifting through, was just magic. There are so many lovely bushwalks nearby, and after a day of exploring, it was so relaxing to sit by the campfire in the evening and soak it all in. One of the loveliest touches was watching the cows slowly wander past to say hello — it really added to the charm of the whole stay. Access was also excellent. We had no trouble getting in and out with our 4WD and off-road 19.61’ off-grid caravan, even in the rain, which was a huge plus. A beautiful, restful spot to switch off and reconnect with nature. We would happily stay again and highly recommend Banjo’s Retreat to anyone looking for peace, scenery and genuinely lovely hosts.

Probably the busiest site I've been so far. But it is well maintained. Lots of people can be a bit overwhelming but I always felt good about where I'm. Good amenities, lovely pool, friendly staff. Most of the spots are flat. Getting in town could be challenging on a Sunday. All in all loved the stay

Campsites right off the freeway, views of the bush or the cow paddocks . We nearly had the place to ourselves, very peaceful. Lots to do in the area. Will definitely stay again.

Perfect camping spot, big green grassed area surrounded by trees and paddocks. The cows came up to the fence in the afternoon and the morning - super peaceful spot will definitely stay again

Great spot. Well located close to shops if needed. Private and lively bush setting. Some sites will need a 4WD to access but there are alternatives if you only have 2WD.

Being close to the communal kitchen , toilet and pool was good , though , I was placed adjacent to the jumping pad and generator ( that blows up the jumping pad ) wasn’t , when the were other spots available .
